Open Loadouts from the main menu, choose the class, then select the weapon or soldier you want to change. For a weapon, open its customization screen and choose a camo or package. For a soldier, select NATO or PAX Armata, choose the character, and press Customize (Square on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or X on PC). Selecting the correct faction and checking the base weapon separately from its Weapon Package solves most cases where a skin appears unavailable or does not show in a match.
Change a weapon skin from Loadouts
Battlefield 6 puts weapon appearance and weapon setup in the class loadout. The same general workflow applies to classes, weapons and vehicles, as described in EA’s missing-content guide.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- From the main menu, open Loadouts.
- Choose the class whose weapon you want to edit.
- Select the primary weapon in that class. If you are changing another equipped weapon, select that weapon instead.
- Open the weapon’s customization screen.
- Choose the available camo, skin or Weapon Package, then confirm the selection.
- Save or back out to the loadout and verify that the selected item is shown on the weapon preview.
Weapon appearance is separate from the attachments that determine how the gun handles. The loadout guide allows up to 100 attachment points; the points available to your build are used by attachments rather than by a cosmetic camo. You can therefore change the look without rebuilding the weapon, or change the attachments while retaining the same appearance. Details on the attachment-point system are in EA’s loadout-building guide.
What a camo changes
EA defines Camo as a complete paintjob for the weapon. It is the straightforward choice when you want the gun’s existing configuration to keep its visual identity while applying a different finish. A camo is cosmetic; it does not supply a new attachment arrangement.

What a Weapon Package changes
A Weapon Package is both a visual preset and a functional shortcut. Each package starts with a hand-crafted attachment setup intended for a combat scenario, and you can edit that package from its base form. The attachment choices can alter recoil, aiming speed, hip-fire accuracy, muzzle flash and sound, so selecting a package may change the way the weapon feels as well as how it looks. The explanation of packages and weapon classes is available in Battlefield’s official loadout and weapon-classes article.
Why a camo may not appear on a Weapon Package
A universal camo does not always sit on top of every other visual layer. EA notes that a Weapon Package can prioritize its own cosmetic changes over a universal camouflage. The result is a correctly equipped camo that is hidden by the package’s appearance, not a lost unlock.
Check the base weapon first
- Open the class in Loadouts and select the weapon.
- Temporarily choose the base weapon rather than the Weapon Package.
- Open the camo section and equip the desired paintjob.
- Check the preview and enter a match or firing range to confirm the finish.
Then check the package separately
Return to the same weapon and select the Weapon Package. If the package’s visual layer returns, the camo is working on the base weapon but is being overridden by the package. You must decide whether the package’s preconfigured attachments are worth keeping or whether the universal camo is the priority. Editing the package’s attachments does not necessarily remove its package-level visual treatment.
Customize soldier outfits and character parts
Soldier cosmetics are organized by faction. The menu path uses NATO and PAX Armata; an outfit found under one faction is not automatically available under the other.
- Open Loadouts from the main menu.
- Select the class you want to use.
- Open the soldier-parts panel.
- Select NATO or PAX Armata.
- Choose the soldier or character.
- Select Customize. The official prompt is Square on PlayStation, Y on Xbox or X on PC.
- Choose the earned outfit or character part and confirm it.
Use the faction selector before searching through your unlocks. If you open the wrong faction, the game can make a legitimately earned skin look missing because it is restricted to the other side.
Faction-specific availability
Some skins are available only to one faction. This is a restriction on where the cosmetic can be equipped, not a statement that the item has failed to unlock. When an outfit does not appear, switch factions in the soldier-parts panel and check the character list again. The faction and missing-content steps are documented by EA Help.
Weapon rules that can block an otherwise valid setup
Cosmetic customization and weapon eligibility are separate systems. The class guide distinguishes between open weapons and closed weapons, as explained in EA’s Battlefield 6 class guide.

| Weapon rule | What it permits | Where it can fail |
|---|---|---|
| Open weapons | Every class can equip any weapon type. | Usually no class-based block; other playlist rules can still apply. |
| Closed weapons | A class can use only its assigned weapon category. | A weapon customized in one class may be unavailable when that class is limited to another category. |
Most modes use open weapons by default, but locked-weapon playlists restrict the choices available to a class. If a customized gun disappears from a preset or cannot be selected, check the playlist’s weapon rule before changing the skin again. A weapon can be fully customized and valid in one playlist while being ineligible in another.
How cosmetic unlocks are obtained
Battlefield 6 distributes weapon and soldier cosmetics through several systems rather than one universal store. The available route depends on the item.
| Unlock route | Typical scope | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware-level progression | Weapon Packages and related weapon rewards | Progress the specified hardware or weapon track. |
| Challenges | Weapon, soldier or profile cosmetics | Complete the listed objective and claim the reward if the interface requires it. |
| Battle Pass | Weapon Packages, Soldier Skins and profile items | Advance through the current season’s tiers; seasonal availability can change. |
| Bonus Paths | Additional seasonal rewards | Follow the path and meet its stated progression requirements. |
| Store Bundles | Grouped cosmetic sets and sometimes packages | Availability and contents are determined by the live store rotation. |
| Events | Time-limited cosmetics | Complete the event requirements during the active period. |
| Edition rewards | Items tied to a purchased game edition | Use the account and platform that owns the qualifying edition. |
| Twitch Drops | Promotional cosmetics | Link the required accounts, watch during the stated window and claim the drop before the deadline. |
| Beta and Road to Battlefield 6 rewards | Promotional or legacy rewards | Eligibility is tied to the original promotion or participation conditions. |
EA lists these sources in its Weapon Packages article and missing-content support article. A reward can be earned but not immediately visible if it still needs to be claimed, if the qualifying account is not linked, or if you are viewing the wrong faction or weapon.
These routes differ in both scope and permanence. A camo normally affects the appearance of one weapon, while a Weapon Package combines a weapon look with a preconfigured setup. A Soldier Skin belongs to a character and faction, and profile items affect your player presentation rather than the gun or soldier in the match. Before spending currency or time, identify which of those scopes the reward actually covers.

Battle Pass cosmetics and current Season 3 pricing
The Season 3 announcement says the Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Battle Pass contains over 100 tiers, including Weapon Packages, Soldier Skins and profile customization items. For that season, EA lists the full pass at 1,100 Battlefield Coins and Battlefield Pro at USD $24.99 MSRP. These are Season 3 live-service prices, not permanent prices for every future season; check the current in-game offer or the latest official announcement before buying.
Seasonal rewards are also subject to the pass’s progression structure. Buying access does not mean every tier is awarded immediately unless the specific offer says so. Review the tier track, Bonus Paths and any claim buttons so you know whether a cosmetic is unlocked by purchase, by progression or by a separate challenge. The Season 3 details are in EA’s official Battle Pass announcement dated May 12, 2026.
Read the customization screen correctly
The game presents several choices close together, but they do not all do the same job. Selecting a weapon chooses the object being edited. Opening its customization screen exposes appearance and package options. Choosing a camo applies the complete paintjob to the base weapon, while choosing a Weapon Package selects a package-level visual treatment and its starting attachment arrangement. Soldier customization follows a parallel pattern: choose the faction, choose the character, then open Customize to see the available parts.

This order matters when diagnosing a missing item. Looking at a package while expecting a base-weapon camo, or looking at PAX Armata while expecting a NATO-only outfit, can make an unlocked item appear absent. Always note the object name, faction and cosmetic category shown at the top of the screen before assuming the reward failed.

Fix a missing weapon skin or outfit
Work through the checks in this order. Each one targets a different reason the item may be absent.
1. Confirm the account and edition
Edition rewards, beta rewards and Road to Battlefield 6 rewards require the account that earned or purchased the entitlement. If you play on more than one platform, verify that the game is signed into the account used for the promotion. A platform or account mismatch can leave the loadout menu unchanged even when the entitlement was valid elsewhere.
2. Claim the reward
Open the relevant challenge, Battle Pass, event or promotional screen and look for a claim action. Twitch Drops in particular require linked accounts and must be claimed within the stated window. An unclaimed drop is not the same as an unequipped drop.
3. Select the right faction
For soldier cosmetics, switch between NATO and PAX Armata before searching the character list. A faction-specific outfit will not be listed as an option on the opposing side.

For weapon cosmetics, inspect the base weapon and the Weapon Package independently. If the camo is visible on the base weapon but not the package, the package’s appearance is taking precedence.
5. Check the playlist’s weapon rule
Open-weapon modes normally let every class use the selected weapon. A locked-weapon playlist can remove that weapon from the class even though its customization remains saved. Switch to a mode with the appropriate rule or equip a permitted category.

6. Reopen the loadout after a seasonal change
Live-service content can move when a season, event or store rotation changes. Re-enter the current Battle Pass or event page, confirm the reward’s availability and then return to Loadouts. Do not assume that a past promotional window is still active.
Cosmetic choices versus functional choices
Use a camo when your priority is a consistent appearance across the normal weapon. Use a Weapon Package when you want a ready-made attachment setup for a particular combat scenario and are willing to accept its package-level visual treatment. Edit the package when you need to tune recoil, aiming speed, hip-fire accuracy, muzzle flash or sound, but remember that changing attachments does not necessarily replace the package’s own cosmetic layer.
| Decision | Best starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Keep the current gun behavior and change only its finish | Base weapon plus Camo | The camo is a complete paintjob and does not provide a new attachment setup. |
| Start with a scenario-focused setup | Weapon Package | The package supplies a hand-crafted attachment arrangement as well as its visual treatment. |
| Change a soldier’s appearance | Faction, character, Customize | Soldier cosmetics are filtered by NATO or PAX Armata. |
| Use the same gun in a restricted playlist | Check the class guide and playlist rule | Closed-weapon rules can make the weapon unavailable regardless of its skin. |
Common mistakes to avoid
- Changing the wrong class: Loadouts are class-specific, so editing a weapon in one class does not automatically alter a different class’s slot.
- Confusing ownership with visibility: An item can be owned but hidden by a faction filter, a package layer or an unclaimed reward.
- Assuming a package is only cosmetic: Its hand-crafted attachments can change recoil, aiming speed, hip-fire accuracy, muzzle flash and sound.
- Ignoring the playlist: A saved weapon is not necessarily legal in a locked-weapon playlist.
- Relying on an old promotion: Events, Twitch Drops and store offers have stated windows or rotations, so the current availability must be checked.
A practical pre-match checklist
- Open Loadouts rather than the store when you want to equip an owned item.
- Select the intended class before editing its weapon or soldier.
- For outfits, choose NATO or PAX Armata first.
- Use Customize after selecting the character; the controller prompts are Square, Y or X by platform.
- For weapons, distinguish the base weapon’s camo from the Weapon Package’s visual layer.
- Check attachment points and handling changes when selecting or editing a package.
- Verify whether the destination playlist uses open or closed weapons.
- Claim challenge, event, Battle Pass and Twitch rewards before looking for them in the loadout.
- For seasonal purchases, verify the current tier count, Battlefield Coin price and Battlefield Pro price because live-service offers can change.
What to expect when the preview and match look different
The loadout preview is the first confirmation that the item is equipped, but it does not override faction or playlist rules. A weapon package can also make a universal camo appear absent even though the camo remains selected on the base weapon. When appearance and eligibility seem to conflict, inspect the three layers separately: the equipped class, the weapon or character, and the mode’s restrictions. That separation identifies whether you are dealing with a cosmetic override, a faction filter or a weapon-category rule.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change a weapon skin in Battlefield 6?
Open Loadouts, choose the class, select the weapon, open its customization screen and choose the available Camo or Weapon Package. Confirm the choice and check the weapon preview. A camo changes the paintjob; a Weapon Package also starts with a hand-crafted attachment setup.
Why is my camo not showing on a Weapon Package?
The package’s visual layer can take priority over a universal camo. Select the base weapon and check the camo there, then select the Weapon Package separately. If the finish appears on the base weapon only, the package is overriding its display rather than the camo being lost.
Where do I customize outfits?
Go to Loadouts, select the class, open the soldier-parts panel, choose NATO or PAX Armata, select the character and press Customize. The official controls are Square on PlayStation, Y on Xbox and X on PC.
How do I equip a skin on the right faction?
Choose the faction before opening the character list. NATO and PAX Armata have separate cosmetic availability, so a faction-specific skin will not appear while the opposing faction is selected.

Can every class use my customized weapon?
Not always. Open-weapon modes allow every class to equip any weapon type, while closed-weapon playlists limit a class to its assigned category. A weapon can remain customized and usable in one mode but be unavailable in a locked-weapon playlist.
Do Weapon Packages change weapon performance?
Yes. They include a hand-crafted attachment arrangement intended for a combat scenario. Those attachments can affect recoil, aiming speed, hip-fire accuracy, muzzle flash and sound. You can edit the package from its base form, but its package-level visual treatment may remain.
Where do Battlefield 6 cosmetics come from?
Depending on the item, rewards come from hardware-level progression, challenges, Battle Pass tiers, Bonus Paths, Store Bundles, events, edition entitlements, Twitch Drops, beta rewards or Road to Battlefield 6 promotions. Check the relevant screen for a claim button and eligibility requirement.
