Download Battlefield 1 for Windows through the official storefront where you bought it: the EA app or Steam. Sign in to the account that owns the game, then install it from that platform’s library. EA app purchases stay in the EA app and cannot be transferred to Steam.

EA app and Steam purchases are separate: an EA app purchase cannot be transferred to Steam. EA also says its app is required to play EA games on PC, including games launched through Steam or Epic. For a Steam purchase, check the current Battlefield 1 Steam page for its EA app and online activation notice; EA says Steam versions of its games may require the EA app to launch.

Install Battlefield 1 through the EA app

If needed, download and install the EA app. EA lists support for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Open the EA app and sign in to the EA Account used to buy Battlefield 1.

EA says digital games bought through its app are added to the purchaser’s Library. If Battlefield 1 is missing, verify that you are signed in to the EA Account that owns the game.
Install a Steam copy
If you bought Battlefield 1 on Steam, use the Steam account and library associated with that purchase to install it. Check the game’s current Steam store page for a notice about EA online activation and EA app installation or background use. EA’s support guidance says EA games bought through Steam may still need the EA app to launch, so a Steam purchase does not necessarily remove the need for EA’s launcher.

- Game missing from the EA app: check that you signed in with the account used for the purchase and look in Library.
- Bought it through Steam: install from the Steam library for the account that owns it; an EA app purchase will not appear as a transferable Steam license.
- Install will not fit: EA lists 50 GB of disk space. Confirm that the selected install drive has sufficient free space before downloading.
