To defeat Sakuko in Silent Hill f, dodge her weapon attacks, retreat from her melee combos, evade her spread-arm grab, and punish the slow red-glow overhead slam with a heavy counter when the cue appears. When she vanishes to charge her suzu bell, find her by sound and light, then land a physical hit before the charge finishes. Interrupt that bell charge three times to advance the fight.

Prepare before entering the arena

The encounter follows the Dark Shrine Corridors, in the room beyond the sacred door. Before approaching the figure, use the nearby Hokora to save, collect whatever healing items and supplies are available, and equip the Naginata. The exact supplies can vary with difficulty and your existing inventory, so check what is actually there rather than counting on a fixed loadout. Silent Hill Memories’ Dark Shrine walkthrough describes the room and preparation.

How to respond to each attack

Read the animation and respond to the specific cue. The guides describe some combo sequences differently, so do not rely on a fixed number of hits.

Attack or cue What to do Risk and opening
Bell-staff throw Dodge the weapon as it comes toward you. Keep watching Sakuko afterward; if she turns her head, be ready to dodge again. She may pull the weapon back as a follow-up. Attack only if you are clear of the follow-up and have a safe opening.
Melee swing combination Back away from the sequence rather than trying to interrupt it. Descriptions differ on the combo’s length and whether a spin may follow. Wait for the animation to finish before moving in.
Spread-arm lunge Dodge as she lunges. This is a dangerous grab, not a counter opportunity. Take a brief opening afterward only if you are safely out of range.
Slow overhead slam with red glow As the impact approaches and the red distortion cue appears, use a heavy attack to counter. This is the clearest counter opportunity described by the guides; acting too early can waste the opening.
Vanishing act and charged suzu bell Listen for Sakuko and look for the light indicating her position. Run to her and land a physical hit before the charge completes. If the charge is not interrupted, the bell releases a shockwave that deals substantial Sanity damage.

Handle the weapon throw and its follow-up

Dodge the initial ranged toss, then keep your attention on Sakuko rather than immediately attacking. AUTOMATON WEST notes that a head turn can signal the pull-back follow-up; dodge again if she commits. A counterattack is worthwhile only when your position gives you time to land it safely. AUTOMATON WEST’s fight guide describes the follow-up cue.

Do not guess the combo length

The walkthrough describes a three-hit mace swing and a four-hit alternating sickle-and-mace sequence, while AUTOMATON WEST describes a combo whose length can vary and a possible spin attack. Treat the weapon animation—not a memorized hit count—as your signal to stay back. Close in only when the sequence has clearly ended.

Dodge the grab; counter the red-glow slam

The spread-arm warning leads into a lunge grab. Evade it instead of attempting a counter. By contrast, the slow overhead slam is the counter opportunity: wait for the red cue near impact, then use a heavy attack to stun her.

Interrupt the charged bell three times

After you deal enough damage, Sakuko vanishes and relocates toward the edge of the arena to charge her suzu bell. Use the sound and light to locate her quickly, run in, and hit her with physical damage before the charge completes. The walkthrough says this interruption is required three times before the encounter advances.

Once it advances, repeat the same approach through the next phase. Counter opportunities become fewer, so avoid extending your attack string when Sakuko is about to act. Preserve stamina by running away when appropriate, then move decisively when the bell charge begins.

Achievement and patch note

Completing the fight without being hit by the suzu bell attack earns the achievement “The Sound of Silence,” according to both guides. Prioritize reaching Sakuko during each charge over squeezing in extra damage elsewhere.

Konami’s Patch 1.10 notice, dated November 13, 2025, records a fix for a bug that could leave the Sakuko-like entity stopped during the “Defeat the Sakuko-like entity” objective. It also notes slightly faster stamina replenishment and slightly less damage to Hinako on Hard action difficulty. Those are changes documented in that notice; it does not establish whether a later patch superseded them.
