Sprong is an optional boss fought in the water near the Endless Tower and Blades’ Graveyard. The key to beating it is to track its repeating five-stage attack cycle and defend against every hit: several attacks gain extra hits as Sprong loses health. Use the charge stage to recover or prepare, then watch for the powerful follow-up beam and parry or dodge its hits.
Where to find Sprong
Sprong is partly submerged in water on the Continent, near the Endless Tower and Blades’ Graveyard. Guides differ on the exact direction: one places the boss southwest of Blade’s Graveyard, while another describes it as being between the graveyard and the tower. Use those landmarks rather than relying on a compass direction. The Expedition 33 Wiki’s Sprong location guide points players to the Expedition Flag near the Endless Tower and suggests looking for the large shape in the water.

You need Esquie’s swimming ability to reach the encounter. Gameranx’s guide says Sprong becomes reachable after Esquie learns to swim at the start of Act II.
When to attempt the fight
There is no established mandatory level or story checkpoint for the encounter, and guide recommendations differ. Neoseeker recommends level 60 or higher and Act III; Gameranx suggests returning after defeating the Paintress and obtaining Painted Power. Treat these as suggestions for making the fight more manageable, not confirmed unlock requirements.

The consulted guides report no elemental weakness or resistance for Sprong. You do not need a particular element to counter it. Game8 recommends choosing damage-boosting Luminas that fit your build and learning the attack patterns; parrying or dodging consistently matters more than chasing an unverified elemental counter. Learn Sprong’s five-stage attack cycle
Sprong repeats a sequence of strikes, laser shots, a multi-hit combo, a charge, and a powerful beam or explosion attack. The early attack sequences add hits as Sprong’s health falls, so watch the on-screen hit count and telegraphs rather than assuming the opening pattern will remain unchanged. The names and precise descriptions of the last stages vary between walkthroughs, but the shared pattern is a charge followed by a dangerous attack. How to make the fight more manageable
- Defend through the full sequence. Sprong’s attack counts rise as its health falls, and some attacks can include a pause before another hit. Keep watching until the sequence has clearly ended.
- Choose the defense you can time reliably. Game8 presents dodging as viable, while parrying can also avoid damage and enable counterattacks. Prioritize consistent timing over a particular team or element.
- Spend the charge turn deliberately. Heal or buff while Sprong prepares its follow-up. A guide reports that breaking Sprong may interrupt the charge, but the next action after an interruption is not consistent across the walkthrough descriptions.
- Consider stronger damage options if the fight is dragging. Gameranx and Neoseeker suggest Painted Power; Neoseeker also recommends level 60 or higher. These are guide recommendations, not verified requirements.
What Sprong drops
The reported main reward is Cheater Pictos. When equipped, it lets a character act twice in a row, according to the Expedition 33 Wiki and TrueAchievements. Those sources also report a Sprong achievement. Neoseeker additionally lists three Grandiose Chroma Catalysts as a reward.
