Find him in or around the castle, prepare with weapons and healing items, and fight where you have room to move: he attacks with a Shockwave Hammer up close and an Ex-Caliber Rifle at range. These are season-era instructions; the cited guides do not confirm that this encounter or its mechanics are available in the live game today.
Where to find the Ageless Champion
Search The Citadel’s main castle and nearby areas rather than relying on one fixed room. Season-era guides report that the Champion roams around the point of interest. Epic described The Citadel as “the castle ruled by ‘The Ageless’” in its Chapter 4, Season 1 announcement on December 4, 2022.

GameSpot’s December 5, 2022 guide reports that the Ageless Champion had 750 shields and 750 health. Treat those as historical, season-era figures—not a current measurement. His reported attack pattern changes with distance:

- At close range: He uses the Shockwave Hammer, which can knock players back. Avoid getting trapped in tight interiors where that attack leaves you little room to reposition.
- At longer range: He uses the Ex-Caliber Rifle, whose projectile sticks before detonating. Keep cover between you and the Champion when possible, and move if a projectile lands nearby.

How to beat the boss
1. Loot before engaging
Gather weapons and healing items before entering the fight. With the large shield and health pool reported in the season-era guide, going in without supplies can leave you unable to sustain a longer encounter.
2. Fight where you can move
Use the castle’s cover, but avoid committing to cramped rooms or corners. Keep enough open space to move away if the Champion closes in with his hammer, and use cover to interrupt his ranged attacks.

3. Choose weapons for the space
Shotguns, SMGs, and assault rifles are practical options for the short- and medium-range exchanges likely inside the castle. Gameranx recommends those weapon types, while Pro Game Guides advises creating distance and shooting. These are guide recommendations, not a tested ranking or guaranteed optimal loadout.
4. Bring a teammate if available
GameSpot observes that a well-armed pair may handle the fight more easily than a solo player. A squad can share pressure and damage, but that is a tactical advantage—not a guarantee of success.

What loot does the Ageless Champion drop?
Chapter 4, Season 1 guides report that defeating him dropped the Mythic Ageless Champion’s Ex-Caliber Rifle and a Shockwave Hammer. These rewards describe the historical encounter and should not be taken as confirmation of current loot in Fortnite.
