Use Leisure Park’s trees to break up the Convicts’ vehicle attack. Bait the vehicle toward a tree, dodge its mounted gun and attempt to attack an occupant when it gets stuck. If you can take out the gunner first, you may be able to use the vehicle’s heavy machine gun against the others.
What makes the Convicts dangerous
The three Convicts patrol Leisure Park in a military vehicle and attack Frank when he enters the park. The moving vehicle and its mounted heavy machine gun are the main threats, so standing in the open and trading shots is risky. Gameranx’s Convicts guide recommends using the trees for cover and waiting for the vehicle to get stuck before closing in.
Prepare weapons before entering the park
If you plan to fight them, the Gameranx guide recommends carrying a katana and an SMG. It reports these item locations:
- Katana: on the awning by Colombian Roastmasters in Paradise Plaza.
- SMG: in the Underground Warehouse in the Maintenance Tunnels.
- Handgun: near the Paradise Plaza gate.
- Orange Juice: at Colombian Roastmasters.
The guide also recommends the Edged Weapon skill book from Sir Book-A-Lot in Wonderland Plaza, claiming it triples the katana’s durability. That multiplier is Gameranx’s reported game-mechanics figure; the official material cited here does not independently confirm it.

Use the trees to create an opening
- Stay near the center park’s trees. Use them as cover rather than facing the vehicle in the open.
- Bait the vehicle toward a tree. Watch its approach and dodge away if it tries to run Frank down.
- Wait for it to stall. Gameranx says the vehicle can crash into a tree and get stuck; it does not establish a guaranteed timing window.
- Close in only when there is an opening. Attack an occupant, then retreat if the mounted gun becomes a clear threat. A katana is the guide’s recommended melee option.
Take out the gunner, then use the mounted weapon
If the opportunity presents itself, prioritize the gunner. Gameranx reports that after the gunner is defeated, Frank can take the heavy machine gun mounted on the vehicle and use it against the remaining Convicts. The guide does not establish exact damage, required hit counts or a guaranteed safe moment to grab it, so watch the vehicle and retreat if you are exposed.
Choose a melee opening or ranged follow-up

Keep survivors out of the vehicle’s path
The Gameranx guide reports that the Convicts appear after night falls and attack civilians. Capcom’s official manual says survivors left behind gradually lose health; it also explains that Frank can direct them to follow him or move toward a goal marker. As a practical precaution, move survivors away from the vehicle’s path or deal with the Convicts before leading an escort through the open park. The remaster improves survivor pathfinding, but escorts still need attention.

Remaster controls and recovery
PlayStation’s September 17, 2024 overview describes general remaster features that can help during this encounter: Frank can move while aiming, the dodge roll is easier to use, areas autosave when entered or left, survivor pathfinding is improved, and weapon durability is displayed. These are general quality-of-life changes; the source does not say that the Convicts’ AI or attack pattern was changed.
