Keep The Executioner on screen, leave room to dodge sideways, and attack during the pauses after his axe attacks. The stomp and Guillotine have readable tells; avoiding their committed attack areas is safer than trading hits. This encounter is associated with Act 1’s Trail of Corruption quest, with Ogham Village named as the location by a newer guide.

GameSpot’s December 6, 2024 guide places The Executioner near the end of the Act 1 quest The Trail of Corruption. StratLore’s guide names Ogham Village and labels its page version 0.5.4, dated August 11, 2026. That label is the guide’s own version information, not confirmation of the current live game build. How to handle his attacks
Axe stomp
The Executioner winds up and turns, then flashes red before bringing the axe down in a broad fire area. Watch the boss rather than nearby enemies while this tell is underway. As the swing begins, dodge out of the threatened area; keep moving if one dodge does not carry you clear. Avoid starting a heal or getting absorbed in add cleanup during the wind-up.
Guillotine
When The Executioner pauses and makes a throat-slitting gesture, prepare for the Guillotine: a large axe descends along the direction he faces at impact. Track his facing and evade the committed line rather than retreating straight backward. GameSpot warns that a direct hit can be lethal for many characters; that is not a universal damage guarantee, since character defenses and game versions can differ.

Other axe swings
StratLore also describes overhead and sweeping axe attacks. Once the direction commits, move to the side or behind the attack’s line, then use the recovery period to strike. Exact openings and safe spacing can vary with your character, build, and game version.
A repeatable fight plan
- Keep the boss visible. Maintain enough camera space to see his wind-ups; losing sight of him makes the major tells harder to react to.
- Hold medium range with a lateral escape route. Avoid backing into a wall or retreating in a straight line from a frontal attack. Leave open space to move sideways.
- Prioritize the attack tell. Watch The Executioner during his wind-ups. Deal with nearby enemies when they are disrupting your movement or creating immediate pressure, but do not chase every add at the cost of missing a boss attack.
- Dodge when the attack commits. Move out of the stomp’s broad impact area or off the line of a directed axe strike. Keep moving until you are clear of the threatened space.
- Punish the recovery, then reset. Attack after the swing or combo finishes, and return to a position with room to dodge when the next sequence begins.
Managing the adds
GameSpot describes recurring aggressive enemies that pressure you at close range and ranged enemies that shoot from the arena edges. Let the boss remain your main focus, but clear attackers that are interrupting movement or adding dangerous pressure. If your build can hit the boss and nearby enemies together, area attacks can address both without requiring you to turn the encounter into a prolonged chase.
