To start Dragon’s Dogma 2 over on Steam, close the game, disable its Steam Cloud synchronization, back up and remove the local save folder, then launch the game with Cloud still off. The game has one save-data slot shared by manual and autosaved progress, so deleting it resets both. [Capcom Support]
Before deleting the save
Capcom says Dragon’s Dogma 2 has one save-data slot: manual and autosaved data share it. Removing the game’s save data therefore removes both kinds of progress; it is not a way to clear only an independent autosave. [Capcom Support]
If you might want the old state later, copy the complete save folder somewhere else before deleting anything. Capcom says Steam Cloud can be used to back up saves, but warns that operation is not guaranteed for backups created from local storage. Treat a copied folder as a fallback, not a guaranteed restore. Delete the local save without immediately restoring it from Steam Cloud
- Exit Dragon’s Dogma 2. Do not close the game or shut down the computer while the save icon is displayed; Capcom cautions against interrupting a save operation. [Capcom Support]
- Turn off Cloud for this game. In your Steam Library, right-click Dragon’s Dogma 2 and choose Properties. On the General page, turn off the per-game Cloud Synchronization setting. Steam documents that Cloud can be controlled for an individual game; with it off, progress normally saved through Cloud is stored only on that machine. [Steam Support]
- Open the game’s save folder. In Windows, a common path is
C:Program Files (x86)Steamuserdata[your account folder]2054970remotewin64_save. The Steam installation folder and account-folder number vary. The game’s Steam app ID is2054970; if the example path does not fit your setup, search within Steam’suserdatafolder for that ID. win64_savefolder. Copy it to a separate location if you want the option to return to the old save. Keeping the complete folder is safer than trying to identify individual files. Capcom’s warning about local-storage backups still applies: successful restoration is not guaranteed. [Capcom Support] - Remove the local save. Delete the
win64_savefolder or its contents. Do not delete another game’s numbered folder. Community instructions identify this folder as the relevant save location; some also namedata000.binanddata001.bin, but that file mapping is user-authored rather than an official Capcom specification. If unsure, work with the complete folder backup rather than selectively removing files. [Steam Community guide] [Steam Community guide] - Launch the game with Cloud still off. The disable-then-delete sequence is based on community instructions. Keeping Cloud off during this first launch prevents it from immediately restoring the previous cloud copy as part of the reset. - Choose which state to keep before turning Cloud back on. You can leave synchronization disabled or re-enable it after deciding whether the new local progress or an older cloud copy is the one you want. If Steam presents a local-versus-cloud conflict, select deliberately; do not assume enabling synchronization by itself will preserve the new save. What about Character Creator data?
Capcom confirms that Character Creator data can be used for the Arisen and Main Pawn when starting the full game with the same account and the creator save data present. Its FAQ does not specify which files to preserve for that purpose. If you want to keep using creator data, back up the entire win64_save folder before resetting rather than relying on a file-by-file guess. [Capcom Support]
