Fortnite’s Lantern Trials ran as separate events in 2022 and 2024, with different tasks and rewards. Both event windows have ended, so players can’t currently sign up or earn those past rewards. If you’re looking up an older challenge, first identify its year: the 2022 edition used daily challenges and stretch goals; the 2024 edition awarded badges for surviving Storm circles.
Which Lantern Trials edition are you looking for?
| Edition | Event dates | How progress worked | Eligible play |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | April 20 at 4:00 a.m. ET through April 24, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. ET | Complete daily challenges and stretch goals | Battle Royale or Zero Build; Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads |
| 2024 | Through April 7, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET | Survive Storm circles to earn badges | Battle Royale or Zero Build, Ranked or unranked; Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads |
These are historical event rules, not current Fortnite challenges. Epic’s official articles do not establish a new or future Lantern Trials event.

How the 2022 Lantern Trials worked
Epic’s 2022 event ran from April 20 to April 24. Players had to sign up on the Lantern Trials website with an Epic Games account, then complete the daily challenge in Fortnite. The event accepted Battle Royale and Zero Build matches in Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads. Epic Games’ 2022 event announcement described the instructions and rewards.

Daily challenge rewards
| Challenge | Reward |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Brawlin’ Bunny Emoticon |
| Day 2 | Rook’s Eyeroll Emoticon |
| Day 3 | Sweaty Jonesy Emoticon |
| Day 4 | Shrug Ranger Emoticon |
| Day 5 | Emoticons from any of the first four daily challenges you had missed |
Epic said the fifth challenge could award missed emoticons, so missing one or more of the first four challenges did not necessarily mean losing those rewards.

Epic limited players to one stretch goal unlocked per day. The event ended April 24, 2022; its participation terms were specific to that edition. The 2022 terms of participation also set eligibility and geographic conditions, so they should not be treated as rules for a later or future event.

The 2024 format replaced daily challenges with Storm-circle survival. Players registered on the Lantern Trials website using an Epic Games account, then played eligible Fortnite matches. Epic’s announcement said players earned one badge for every five Storm circles survived, up to a maximum of 11 badges. Battle Royale and Zero Build counted, including Ranked or unranked matches in Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads. Read Epic Games’ 2024 event announcement.

What to do if an old guide doesn’t match your challenge
- Check the year before following steps: 2022 guides describe daily challenges and stretch goals; 2024 guides describe Storm-circle badges.
- Keep the reward lists separate. The 2022 emoticons, Leadlight Wrap, and Dream Lantern Back Bling were not the 2024 badge rewards.
- Do not expect to register for either expired event or claim its promotional rewards now. The official event windows have passed.
