What “delisted” means for a game you bought
Delisting means the title is no longer offered as a new purchase in the PlayStation Store. It does not, by itself, tell you whether your account can download an entitlement it already received. The practical test is the library belonging to the account that obtained access, not a fresh Store search.

There are three different situations that are often described as “owning” a delisted game:

A Plus catalog entitlement is not automatically equivalent to an outright purchase. Likewise, seeing a game on a console because another account shared it is different from having the license on your own account.

Find the game in your library
Use the path for the device you are using. Menu wording can change as system software is updated, but these are the library locations in Sony’s current guidance.

Searching the Store is a poor test for a delisted title: the product page may no longer be purchasable, while the entitlement can still be listed in the account library. If the game appears there, select it and begin the download. If the console offers an update or add-on separately, check the library entry for the base game and any owned add-ons rather than assuming that a missing add-on means the whole purchase is gone.
When using the web library or app, make sure you are signed into exactly the same account as on the console. A linked console can receive a remote download only when the app is connected to that console and the correct account is selected. These tools are a second way to inspect the account library, not a workaround for an entitlement that is missing everywhere.
Step 1: Confirm the purchasing account and transaction
Before changing console settings, establish which account actually obtained the game.
- Sign out of accounts that are not relevant, or switch deliberately to the account you believe made the purchase.
- Open that account’s transaction history and look for a completed transaction for the title. A completed record is stronger evidence than an old download icon, a disc case or a console user’s memory of having played it.
- Check the edition and platform. A PS4 entitlement, a PS5 version, an add-on and a PlayStation Plus benefit can appear as separate products.
- Return to the account’s Purchased or Collection library and search there.
If the transaction is not present, the account may be wrong, the original access may have been through Plus, or the game may have been shared from someone else’s account. Do not treat a shared copy as a purchase on your own account.
Keep the transaction details available while troubleshooting. If Support later needs to investigate, the account identifier, title, edition and completed-purchase date help distinguish a genuine purchase from a catalog claim, trial or shared entitlement.
Step 2: Check whether the game is hidden
Sony says a hidden game is hidden from the libraries on all consoles associated with the account. If the transaction is valid but the title does not appear in the normal list, use the library’s hidden-game controls to unhide it, then check the Purchased or Collection view again.

Hiding changes what is displayed; it does not create or remove an entitlement. If unhiding does not restore the entry, continue with the account and license checks below. Check both the base game and any separately listed add-ons, since hiding or missing one item does not prove that every item in the purchase is unavailable.
Step 3: Identify the entitlement type
Standalone purchase on your own account
A standalone digital purchase should be tied to the account shown in the transaction history. Sign in to that account, open the appropriate library, and download the title. A delisting does not turn this into a new Store purchase, so do not buy a second copy merely because Store search no longer returns a purchase button.
PlayStation Plus access
Check whether you originally claimed the game through PlayStation Plus or accessed it from a Plus catalog. The subscription must be active, and the title must still be available under the applicable collection or catalog terms. If either condition has changed, the game may be unavailable even though you played it previously.
This check is separate from transaction history for an outright purchase. A Plus record does not prove that you own a permanent standalone license. Renewing a subscription can restore access only when the title remains included under the applicable Plus terms; it cannot convert a removed catalog item into a purchase.
Access shared from another account
If another user bought the game, work from the owner account rather than the account that merely played it. On PS5, verify that the owner account has Console Sharing and Offline Play enabled for the console. On PS4, verify that the owner account’s console is activated as its primary PS4. Without the appropriate sharing configuration, other users on the console can see a padlock or lose access even though the owner still has the entitlement.
Do not change sharing settings on multiple consoles at random. First identify the owner account, then verify the setting on the console where you intend to play. If the owner can see the game but another local user cannot, that pattern points toward sharing configuration rather than a missing purchase.
Step 4: Restore licenses when the game is missing or locked
Restoring licenses is Sony’s official remedy for several entitlement-display problems. Sony says it does not affect your data and that it can help with a padlock, a missing game or add-on, or crashes associated with license recognition.

PS5
- Open Settings.
- Choose Users and Accounts.
- Select Other.
- Choose Restore Licenses and confirm.
PS4
- Open Settings.
- Choose Account Management.
- Select Restore Licenses.
- Choose Restore and wait for the operation to finish.
After the restore completes, sign in to the account that owns or receives the entitlement and check the library again. License restoration can repair recognition of an entitlement; it cannot manufacture a purchase that is absent from the account or bring back a Plus catalog item that is no longer included.

Because Sony says the process does not affect data, it is a sensible early step for a padlock or missing entry. It is not the same as reinstalling the game, deleting saved data or resetting the console.
Why a delisted game may still not download
The symptom usually points to one of four different causes. Work through the matching branch instead of repeatedly searching the Store.

For a failed download, first check PlayStation service status and install any available system-software update. Confirm that the console has enough storage for the game and its required installation data. Pause and resume the transfer; if that does not help, cancel it and start it again. Sony’s download troubleshooting also includes Safe Mode cache and database steps when the problem is an indexing or system-data issue. Those steps address downloading or library indexing; they do not recreate an entitlement that the account never had.
Separate “the title is not offered for sale” from “the transfer is failing.” A visible library entry with a download error calls for download troubleshooting. An absent entry after account, hidden-game, Plus, sharing and license checks calls for entitlement verification, not repeated cache operations.

If the console library looks wrong, sign in online with the same account and open Avatar > Game Library > Purchased. The PlayStation App provides Game Library > Purchased and can offer Download to Console for a linked console.
These views are useful for separating a console display problem from an account problem. If the title is visible online but not on the console, restore licenses and review the console-sharing setting. If it is absent online as well, recheck the transaction and entitlement type before treating the issue as a download failure.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Relying on Store search: a missing purchase button is expected for a delisted title and does not answer whether your library entitlement remains.
- Using the wrong account: family members may have played a shared game, while only the owner account appears in transaction history.
- Confusing Plus with ownership: past access does not prove a permanent license when the game came from a catalog or benefit.
- Ignoring hidden games: a hidden title can disappear from every console library associated with that account until it is unhidden.
- Resetting the console too early: storage, Safe Mode or database steps cannot restore an entitlement that is absent from the account.
- Assuming every region has the same outcome: availability can depend on the game, region, license and account circumstances.
When to contact PlayStation Support
Escalate a title-specific problem when the purchase is verified but the library, sharing and license steps do not restore access. Support is the appropriate channel for determining whether the particular game, region and account still have a usable entitlement; a general library procedure cannot answer that for every delisted title.
Include enough information for Support to reproduce the problem:

- The account used to make or claim the purchase.
- The game title, edition and console you are attempting to use.
- The transaction-history result, including the date of the completed purchase when available.
- The exact error text or the fact that the title is missing, hidden or locked.
- The troubleshooting already performed: account check, hidden-game check, Plus or sharing check, license restore and download retries.
- The date and time of the failed attempt.
- A screenshot or video showing the library entry, padlock or error, if available.
Do not delete the account, remove the purchase history or repeatedly alter sharing settings while troubleshooting. Keep the owner account available so Support can verify the entitlement and the console configuration.
What Sony’s U.S. March 2026 terms say about future access
Sony’s U.S. March 2026 Terms of Service, section 8.16, say that users are responsible for accessing a purchased product before it is removed or its license expires. The same section states: “We are not obligated to provide you with replacement copies for any reason.”
That language is specific to the cited U.S. agreement and is not a universal promise about every region or every game. It also does not determine whether a particular account can download a particular delisted title today. Availability can depend on the game’s license, the account’s transaction record, the region and whether the access was a purchase, a Plus benefit or sharing. If the official library and license procedures fail, Support must resolve that title-specific question.

- Sign in to the account that completed the purchase or claimed the benefit.
- Confirm the completed transaction, or establish that the access came from PlayStation Plus or another account’s sharing.
- Check the correct library: PS5 Games home > Game Library > Your Collection; PS4 Library > Purchased; online Avatar > Game Library > Purchased.
- Look for the title in hidden games and unhide it if necessary.
- For Plus access, verify an active subscription and continued catalog or collection availability.
- For shared access, verify PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play or the owner account’s PS4 primary PS4 activation.
- Restore licenses using the PS5 or PS4 path for your console.
- If the title is present but the transfer fails, check service status, system software, storage, retry controls and the applicable Safe Mode troubleshooting.
- Contact PlayStation Support with the error, account and troubleshooting details if access still fails.
This sequence keeps an unavailable Store listing separate from the questions that actually determine recovery: which account has the entitlement, what kind of entitlement it is, whether the console is configured to use it and whether the download infrastructure is working.

Can I download a delisted game from PlayStation Store search?
Usually you should not rely on Store search. Sign in to the account that obtained the game and use PS5 Games home > Game Library > Your Collection, PS4 Library > Purchased, or the web and app Purchased library. Select the title there and choose Download if it is available.

Why can’t I find a game I bought on PlayStation?
First verify that you are using the purchasing account and that its transaction history shows a completed purchase. Then check hidden games, confirm whether the access was actually from PlayStation Plus or another account’s sharing, and restore licenses. If the title remains absent, contact PlayStation Support.
How do I restore licenses on PS5 or PS4?
On PS5 go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. On PS4 go to Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses > Restore. Sony says restoring licenses does not affect data and can help with padlocks or missing games and add-ons.
Does PlayStation Plus let me keep a delisted game permanently?
Not necessarily. A Plus catalog or benefit entitlement depends on an active subscription and the game remaining available under the relevant Plus terms. It is not automatically the same as an outright digital purchase.
Can another account’s purchase be downloaded on my console?
It can be shared when the owner account is configured correctly. On PS5 verify Console Sharing and Offline Play; on PS4 verify that the owner account’s console is activated as its primary PS4. The shared account, not the player’s local account, holds the entitlement.
What if the game appears but the download fails?
Check PlayStation service status, system software and available storage. Pause and resume the download, then cancel and retry if needed. Sony also lists Safe Mode cache and database troubleshooting for appropriate indexing or system-data problems.
Does restoring licenses bring back a removed Plus catalog game?
No. License restoration can help the console recognize an entitlement, but it cannot create a purchase or restore a Plus item that is no longer included in the applicable catalog or collection.
What should I send PlayStation Support?

Start with the account library, not Store search: verify the purchasing account and transaction, then check hidden games, Plus status or console sharing. Restore licenses on PS5 or PS4, troubleshoot any separate download failure, and contact PlayStation Support when the verified entitlement still cannot be accessed.
