Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. SEGA lists both Xbox versions as digital-only, so you install the game through the Microsoft Store rather than from an Xbox disc. Sign in to the Microsoft account that should own the game, open the Store, find the official listing, select an edition, complete the purchase and choose Install. If you already own it, use My games & apps > Full library > Owned games instead.
Keep the console connected to the internet while the game downloads and applies updates. The Xbox listing advertises local split-screen, online lobbies for up to 12 players, cross-platform multiplayer, 24 tracks and 15 CrossWorlds. The game launched on September 25, 2025.

Supported consoles
The Xbox release supports both generations: Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. SEGA’s June 9, 2025 announcement lists those consoles among the launch platforms, alongside PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam and the Epic Games Store. Xbox versions are digital-only
SEGA’s official product site states “Only available in digital format” for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. That means the normal Xbox installation is a Store download. There is no Xbox disc-install step in the current SEGA listing, and you should not assume that a physical edition will be released unless SEGA or Xbox changes its product information. Check the wording on SEGA’s Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds official site if you are buying later.
What to have ready
- An Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S connected to the internet.
- The Microsoft account that should own the license. Use the same account for the purchase and for any later reinstallation.
- Enough free storage for the game and its updates. The supplied product information does not state an installation size, so check the live Store listing and your console’s storage screen rather than relying on a guessed number.
- Time for the initial download and update. The duration depends on the connection and the size shown by Xbox for your edition.
- If you intend to use online modes, access to the relevant Xbox network features and any subscription or account prompt Xbox displays for your region and account.
Install Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds after buying it
Use this route when you are purchasing the game on the console for the first time.
- Connect and sign in. Turn on the Xbox, connect it to the internet and sign in to the Microsoft account that should own Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. If several people use the console, check the profile shown before opening the Store; buying on a different account can make the game appear missing later.
- Open Microsoft Store. From the Xbox Home screen, launch Microsoft Store. The exact Home layout can differ after a system update, but the Store remains the official purchase location.
- Search the exact title. Use Store search for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Open the listing published for Xbox and verify the title before selecting a purchase option. Avoid similarly named add-ons or unrelated search results.
- Select an edition. The Store may show a standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. Edition names, prices, discounts and included downloadable content can change by country and over time. Open each edition’s details and compare what is included in the live listing before paying.
- Review the regional price and account. Confirm the currency, purchaser account and any edition content displayed for your region. The amount shown on your console is the current price for that Store region; it is not a universal price and may change.
- Complete the purchase. Follow the Microsoft account payment confirmation screens. After a successful transaction, the product page should change from a purchase action to an installation action for the owning account.
- Choose Install. Select Install on the game’s Store page. Xbox adds the download to the console’s queue. Leave the console online while the base game and any required update finish.
Install a copy you already own
You do not need to purchase the game again when the license is already attached to your Microsoft account. This applies after deleting the game, moving to another Xbox, or setting up a console again.

- Open My games & apps from the Xbox Home screen.
- Select Full library, then Owned games.
- Find Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in the list. Use the search or filter controls if your library is large.
- Select the game and choose Install. If the title is not listed, use the troubleshooting checks below before buying anything again.
An account can own the digital license while a different profile uses the console, subject to Xbox’s current home-console and account rules. For a missing purchase, first return to the account that completed the transaction; do not assume that seeing the game on another profile proves that profile owns it.

Understand the editions before you install
The Store can present more than one edition. The information supplied for this title confirms the existence of a standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition, but it does not establish a permanent content list or price for either one. Those details are regional and can change.

Do not infer that a discount, upgrade path or bonus is permanent. Read the edition panel on the Xbox listing at the moment you buy, because Store promotions and included content can change without changing the game’s title.
Watch the download and updates
Check the queue
To see progress, open My games & apps > Manage > Queue. Xbox can alter menu wording with system updates, so the equivalent queue or download-management screen may be labelled slightly differently on your console. The queue shows whether the game is downloading, installing, paused or waiting behind another item.

A game can need additional data after the initial Store download. Keep free space beyond the number shown on the listing so an update can unpack and install. If Xbox reports insufficient storage, open the console’s storage-management screen, remove or move items you no longer need, then retry the installation. Because no fixed install-size figure is provided here, use the live size shown by Xbox rather than a figure from an older article.

Do not launch too early
Wait until the queue reports that installation and required updates are complete. Launching while an update is pending can leave you with an incomplete version or prevent online features from connecting until the update finishes.
First launch and online play
Start the game from My games & apps or the Home screen after installation. Sign in to the Xbox profile you want to use. If Xbox displays a network, privacy or subscription prompt for an online feature, follow the current instructions shown for your account and region; the requirements can change independently of the game’s Store page.
The Xbox listing describes these features:

Troubleshooting the Xbox installation
The game does not appear in Store search
- Search for the full title, including the colon: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
- Open the Xbox product page directly and check that the page identifies an Xbox edition: official Xbox listing.
- Check the console’s country or regional Store setting. Prices, availability and edition visibility can differ by region.
- Confirm that the console is online and signed in. A temporary Store connection problem can prevent search results from loading.
There is no Install button after purchase
First confirm that the account currently signed in is the account that paid for the game. Then close and reopen the Store page, or restart the console, and check My games & apps > Full library > Owned games. A purchase can take a short time to synchronize with the library. If the transaction is still absent, review the Microsoft account’s order history and contact Xbox support with the transaction information rather than purchasing a second copy.

The game is missing from Owned games
Check the following in order:
- Switch to the Microsoft account that completed the purchase.
- Verify that the Store transaction completed rather than remaining pending or cancelled.
- Open the queue to ensure the title is not already downloading under another profile.
- Restart the Xbox and sign in again.
- Reopen the official Store listing and look for Install.

The download is paused or stuck
- Open My games & apps > Manage > Queue and check whether another game, update or app is ahead of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
- Resume the item if it is paused. If another large download is active, pause or finish it so the game can proceed.
- Check the network connection from the Xbox settings and keep the console connected until the queue completes.
- Restart the console, reopen the queue and retry. A restart can clear a temporary Store or queue state without changing the purchase.
Xbox reports insufficient storage
Free space using the console’s storage-management tools, then start the installation again. Remove an unused game or move content to an available storage device if your Xbox setup supports that option. Keep additional room for updates; the initial download figure is not a guarantee of the final space required.
An update will not finish
Check the queue for an error message, confirm the console remains online and make sure enough storage is available for the update to unpack. Restart the Xbox and retry. If the same error returns, note the exact code and use Xbox support rather than deleting the purchase. Deleting an incomplete installation does not remove the digital license, but it does require the game to download again.
A disc does not install the game
SEGA’s current product page identifies the Xbox versions as digital-only. A disc labelled for another platform or another Sonic title will not provide the Xbox digital entitlement for CrossWorlds. Return to the Xbox Store listing and install from the Microsoft account that owns the game. Do not pay for a second copy until you have checked the account and order history.

Online modes ask for additional access
The game supports online 12-player lobbies and cross-platform multiplayer according to the Xbox listing. Xbox may display current network, privacy or subscription requirements when you select an online mode. Follow those prompts for the account and region in use, and check that the console has a stable connection. Local split-screen does not require an internet download once the game and its updates are installed, although the console still needs the initial installation process.

Your digital purchase is associated with the Microsoft account that bought it, not with a particular hard drive. On another Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, sign in to that account and repeat My games & apps > Full library > Owned games, then select the title and Install. The console must download the game again unless the required files are already available through a supported transfer or storage method. Keep the new console online so Xbox can verify the license and retrieve updates.
If multiple editions appear in your library, select the edition you purchased. Installing a different edition can show different downloadable-content entitlements, so compare the edition name with your order record before starting a large download.

- No current Xbox disc route: SEGA’s listing says the Xbox versions are digital-only.
- No fixed worldwide price: Store prices, discounts and edition content vary by region and date.
- No universal download-time promise: Xbox download speed depends on your connection and other queue activity.
- No permanent edition contents: Check the live Standard and Digital Deluxe panels before purchase.
