Claim task chests as you reach their displayed thresholds, keep idle troops gathering the resource your next upgrade needs, and collect every alliance reward and benefit you are eligible to use. Event rules, reward contents, reset times, and alliance bonuses can change, so treat the live screens in your own game as authoritative.
What “free resources” means in Last Shelter: Survival
The game is free to download and play, but its store listings also identify in-app purchases. That means you can obtain food, wood, fuel, and other materials through normal play without buying packs, while paid offers remain part of the overall economy. A subscription, diamond bundle, speed-up, or paid resource exchange is not a free method simply because it appears alongside free activities.

This guide focuses on actions that use the game’s ordinary systems: tasks, map nodes, alliances, and events. No physical product or special accessory is needed. Your results will depend on your headquarters and research level, troop capacity, node availability, travel time, alliance activity, and the events currently running on your server. There is no evidence for a universal daily yield or a promise that no-spend players advance at the same speed as paying players.
Start each login with the Daily Tasks screen
Daily Tasks are the most repeatable source of extra rewards because the game presents a fresh list of actions and lets you earn chests by accumulating points. A community-maintained task page lists gathering resources, using resource items, completing research, and defeating zombies among its examples. Your current task panel may contain different objectives or values.

Use this five-step loop
- Open the task panel before spending stamina or items. Read every objective and note which actions already match your planned upgrade, research, gathering run, or zombie attack.
- Choose overlap instead of busywork. If research is due to finish, let it count toward a research objective; if troops are available, send them to a suitable resource point rather than performing an unrelated action solely for points.
- Track the displayed point thresholds. Claim each chest as soon as its threshold is reached so an unclaimed reward does not get overlooked when the cycle changes.
- Reserve scarce actions for worthwhile timing. Do not consume a valuable resource item, stamina recovery, or speed-up until you know the task will score it and the reward is useful to your current plan.
- Check the reset timer in your client. A community wiki describes the daily cycle as beginning at 00:00 server time, but the timer shown by your game takes precedence if the schedule or timezone has changed.
Community-listed chest thresholds
The same community page reports reward chests at 30, 70, 120, 180, 260, 340, 420, and 500 points. These figures are a secondary description, not a guaranteed current configuration. Use them as a checklist only when your own Daily Tasks screen shows the same progression.

If a task asks for an action you cannot afford, compare the cost with the chest’s actual contents. A chest is not automatically profitable when reaching it requires wasting a rare item or delaying essential research.
Keep troops gathering on the world map
Map gathering turns otherwise idle troop time into a continuing flow of materials. Send marches to the resource type that removes your next bottleneck: food for a planned training queue, wood for construction, fuel for systems that require it, or another material your current upgrade consumes.

Set up a practical gathering rotation
- Inspect your next two or three costs. Look at the building, research, or troop upgrade you realistically expect to start next, then identify its limiting resource.
- Scout available nodes. Pick a node your march can reach and clear without creating an unacceptable risk. Node supply, travel distance, and contest pressure vary by map and server.
- Send the largest safe march. A larger capacity can reduce the number of trips, but do not remove every defensive or combat-ready troop if your settlement needs protection.
- Queue the next destination before the march returns. Reassign troops promptly when they finish so gathering time is not lost to idle minutes.
- Rebalance when your bottleneck changes. Once wood is sufficient for the next building, switch a march to food, fuel, or another material rather than continuing to stockpile an easy surplus.
Exact gathering rates and node availability are not universal figures. They depend on troop load, march composition, distance, map conditions, research, and alliance effects, so a quoted rate from another server may not describe your account. Watch the amount and return time shown when you select a node instead of planning around an online table.
Account for travel, risk, and troop time
- Travel time: A distant high-level node may produce more per trip but leave troops unavailable longer. Compare the complete cycle, including outbound and return travel.
- Risk: Contested areas can expose a march to attacks or recalls. A slightly lower-risk node can be better if losing the march interrupts your whole routine.
- Capacity: If a march returns partially loaded, check whether troop load, node size, or an early recall caused the shortfall before sending the same setup again.
- Priority: Troops needed for an urgent task should not be trapped on a long gathering run. Recall or choose a nearer node when a timed objective matters more.
Use an active alliance for gifts and gathering help
Alliance membership adds rewards that an isolated account cannot collect. A community alliance overview describes collectable Alliance Gifts, while a separate alliance-store page describes a Gather Bonus that increases base gathering speed by 50% for 24 hours when purchased with alliance currency. Both details come from community-maintained pages; confirm that the gift, price, duration, and bonus are still present in your alliance screens before planning around them.
Alliance checklist
- Join an alliance whose members are active enough to generate and open gifts regularly.
- Open the alliance gift area whenever the game marks a gift as available; unclaimed gifts do not help your stockpile.
- Inspect the alliance store before spending alliance currency. If the 50% Gather Bonus is shown, compare its 24-hour duration with your longest gathering window and activate it when marches can remain out for most of that period.
- Review alliance research, help requests, and other unlocked benefits. Only use bonuses that your client currently lists as active or purchasable.
- Leave room for alliance obligations. Participating in the activities that generate gifts or currency can be more valuable than joining a dormant group with a higher advertised level.
Alliance rewards are conditional: eligibility, gift frequency, currency costs, and unlocked benefits depend on the group and current game version. Do not treat a community page’s example as a universal entitlement.

Read event rules before trying to score
Events can multiply the value of actions you were going to perform anyway, but their schedules and reward tables are not fixed across every server, level, or date. Before saving resources for an event, open its rules and reward preview in your client.
A safe event decision process
- Confirm the event is active for your account. Check its start and end timers, eligibility requirements, and scoring period.
- Identify qualifying actions. Determine whether the event rewards gathering, research, construction, training, zombie attacks, item use, or another activity.
- Read the reward tiers. Note whether points produce guaranteed chests, ranking rewards, alliance rewards, or only a chance at an item.
- Save only what you can safely hold. Do not delay a critical upgrade or leave troops idle for an event whose reward is uncertain.
- Spend during the scoring window. Items used before an event starts may not count, even if the event preview was visible earlier.
Old player-written event guides can explain the general idea of saving actions for a scoring window, but they cannot establish today’s calendar, values, or eligibility. The in-game preview is the current authority.
Choose the no-spend method that fits your bottleneck
There is no defensible universal ranking by resources per hour because current rates, node supply, task mixes, and event rewards vary. Use the following comparison to choose an action for the situation in front of you.

A repeatable daily schedule
The exact clock times are less important than preserving the order and checking the live timers. Adapt this outline to your server’s reset and your real-life availability.
- First login: Read Daily Tasks, collect any available alliance gifts, and start research or construction that matches both your upgrade plan and a displayed task.
- After planning: Send every suitable idle march to a resource node, choosing the material that blocks the next meaningful upgrade.
- Mid-cycle check: Claim newly unlocked task chests, refresh finished marches, and inspect event rules before using stored items.
- Alliance window: Check the alliance store and benefits. If a current Gather Bonus is worth the alliance currency, activate it when you can keep marches working through most of its 24-hour duration.
- Before reset: Finish safe task objectives, collect completed marches, claim gifts, and avoid leaving a chest or event reward unclaimed.
- After reset: Reopen the task panel rather than assuming yesterday’s objectives remain. Confirm the new reset time and reward thresholds in the client.
How to avoid wasting resources while chasing “free” rewards
- Do not spend to make a reward free. A paid subscription, diamond purchase, speed-up, or resource pack remains a purchase even if it awards materials alongside another item.
- Do not force every task. If an objective requires a scarce item, compare its cost with the chest contents and your next upgrade before proceeding.
- Do not assume yesterday’s event applies today. Verify the live rules, timers, and reward preview each time.
- Do not leave troops idle by default. Reassign completed marches, but recall them when an urgent combat or timed objective has priority.
- Do not buy an alliance bonus blindly. Confirm the current duration, percentage, currency price, and whether your marches will actually run during the active period.
- Do not use another player’s yield as a promise. Different research, troop loads, nodes, and server conditions change the result.
Troubleshooting common problems
“My task points are not increasing.”
Reopen the task description and check the exact qualifying action. Some objectives may require a particular item type, enemy, or completion state rather than merely starting an activity. If the task list changed after a reset, score against the new list shown by the client.

Check the node’s remaining supply, march load, troop losses, travel distance, and whether you recalled early. A node can be contested or depleted, and the game may display a different result from a guide written for another account.

“I cannot find the alliance gift or gathering bonus.”
Open the alliance interface and inspect the current gift and store sections. The feature may require an alliance level, available currency, an unlocked research benefit, or a current server configuration. If the live interface does not show it, do not assume a community description is still current.
“An event reward did not arrive.”
Check the event’s end time, claim button, mailbox, and eligibility rules. Some rewards require manual collection or arrive after a ranking calculation. Keep a record of the event timer and displayed requirements rather than relying on an old schedule.
What progress should a no-spend player expect?
This routine improves consistency, not certainty. Daily chests, map income, alliance gifts, and event rewards can reduce shortages, but the available information does not establish a fixed amount of food, wood, fuel, or other resources per day. Progress can also be slower than a player who buys packs or paid subscriptions. The practical objective is to keep every safe march working, convert normal progression into task points, collect alliance rewards, and spend only when the current reward justifies the cost.
