For a quick change to an existing Sim, select them in their household, click a mirror, and choose Change Appearance. That lets you adjust styling such as hair, makeup, facial hair, eyebrows, and glasses or accessories; it does not open the full Create-a-Sim editor or reshape the Sim’s face and body. For facial reshaping, check whether Dr. Vu’s Automated Cosmetic Surgeon is available as a career reward in your version. For deeper changes to a Sim already living in a neighborhood, community guides describe an advanced SimPE workflow.
Change a Sim’s styling at a mirror
- Enter the household that contains the Sim.
- Select the Sim you want to edit.
- Click an accessible mirror and choose Change Appearance.
- Make the available changes and confirm them.
The mirror interaction is for superficial styling, not the full face and body controls used in Create-a-Sim. Depending on the Sim and installed content, available options can include hair style and color, makeup, facial hair, eyebrows, and glasses or other accessories. It does not change the Sim’s genetics. Reshape facial features with the cosmetic surgery reward
The in-game option identified for changing facial structure is Dr. Vu’s Automated Cosmetic Surgeon, a career reward associated with the Show Business career. Check the career reward panel in your installed version to see whether it is available. The exact unlock conditions and availability across editions are not established here, so do not assume every installation has the same access. This interaction changes appearance; it is not a general genetics editor.
Use Body Shop to create or customize appearance parts
Body Shop is useful when you want to design a Sim or modify custom appearance parts, rather than directly overwrite the face of a Sim already living in a neighborhood. Aspyr’s guide for the Mac The Sims 2: Super Collection describes creating and customizing Sims, reopening an existing project with Load Project, and editing a custom part by exporting its textures, changing the graphics in an external program, and importing the result. The Body Shop manual describes facial modifiers for the face, brow, eye, nose, mouth, and jaw regions. This offers more precise control when creating or modifying an appearance to use in play, but it is distinct from editing a neighborhood Sim directly.
Consider SimPE only for deeper neighborhood edits
Community-maintained instructions describe using SimPE’s Sim Surgery for appearance transfers, including changes such as skin tone and eye color that may involve a cloned Sim and Body Shop. This is a third-party save-editing workflow, not a built-in game interaction. Compatibility with current operating systems and every modern installation has not been established. Availability and setup can differ by platform, edition, and installed expansions.
