To enable crossplay, turn on Crossplay Enabled in the General settings for every player-hosted game. PC players must also enable EAC Protected. A dedicated server needs ServerAllowCrossplay=true, EACEnabled=true, IgnoreEOSSanctions=false, and a maximum of eight players. Keep the server’s gameplay settings inside the console-compatible ranges published by the 7 Days to Die Help Center; otherwise, a console client may be unable to connect.

What 7 Days to Die crossplay supports
The Fun Pimps’ V1.2 release notes, dated December 10, 2024, describe cross-platform play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Crossplay is not simply a server-browser switch: the host settings, player settings, anti-cheat state, player limit, world size, and several gameplay values all have to be acceptable to console clients.
- Supported platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
- Maximum crossplay players: 8.
- Maximum world size identified in the release notes: 8192.
- Player requirement: every participant must have crossplay enabled in the game’s General settings.
- PC requirement: EAC Protected must be enabled.
Platform updates can require certification before a console build becomes available. Two players can therefore be using the same nominal game version while one platform is still waiting for an approved update. Check the version shown by each copy before changing server settings.

Before changing the server
Prepare the server and all players first. This prevents a successful configuration change from being mistaken for a network failure.
- Confirm that each player is using the current version available for their platform.
- Confirm that the console edition has completed any required platform update or certification process.
- Decide whether the game will be player-hosted, browser-listed, or run on a dedicated server.
- Record the current server settings so you can restore them if a change causes a different problem.
- Plan for no more than eight simultaneous players and a world size no larger than 8192.
- Arrange a server restart after saving changes; many settings are read only when the world starts.
Enable crossplay in a player-hosted game
Use this procedure when one player creates the game and it is available through the normal in-game browser or invite flow.
- Open the new-game or game-settings screen.
- Open General.
- Turn on Crossplay Enabled.
- If the host or another participant is on PC, turn on EAC Protected as well. Every PC player joining the cross-platform session should use the protected setting.
- Set the maximum player count to eight or fewer.
- Keep the world size at 8192 or below.
- Start the world, then have console players search for it again in the server browser or join through the available invitation method.
If the game was created before the switch was enabled, leave the world, change the setting, and create or reload the session with crossplay enabled. A player changing the option only on their own device does not alter the host’s server configuration.
Configure a dedicated server
For a dedicated server, edit the server configuration through the host’s control panel or the server’s settings file. Set the following values exactly:

Do not put quotation marks around Boolean values unless your control panel specifically requires them. If a panel presents switches rather than text fields, the enabled state corresponds to true and the disabled state to false.
Dedicated-server procedure
- Stop the server completely. Editing while it is running can be overwritten when the process exits.
- Open the server settings page or configuration editor.
- Set
ServerAllowCrossplaytotrue. - Set
EACEnabledtotrue. - Set
IgnoreEOSSanctionstofalse. - Set
ServerMaxPlayerCountto8or a smaller number. - Check the gameplay values in the next table before saving.
- Save the configuration, start the server, wait for it to finish loading, and search for it again from a console account.
Console-compatible gameplay ranges
The 7 Days to Die Help Center’s April 21, 2026 article lists additional limits for servers that accept console clients. The settings below must stay within the stated ranges. A server can have the crossplay switch enabled and still reject a console connection if one of these values is outside its permitted range.

The two zero values are exceptions to the ordinary minimums because the Help Center identifies them as disable settings. If your panel labels an option differently, use the underlying server key and verify the saved value rather than relying only on the visible slider.
Hosted-server control-panel workflow
Hosts use different labels, but the sequence is broadly the same. Shockbyte’s documented workflow is a useful example of the order to follow:

- Stop the 7 Days to Die server from the control panel.
- Open 7D2D Server Settings.
- Enable Crossplay.
- Enable EACEnabled.
- Set the four dedicated-server values and review every gameplay range listed above.
- Save the changes.
- Start the server and wait until it is fully online.
- Search again from the console browser.
On another host, look for equivalent controls such as “server configuration,” “game settings,” or an advanced configuration editor. The important part is the resulting values, not the panel’s wording. If a host hides one of the required keys, ask support whether its crossplay profile applies the value automatically; do not assume that a generic “Crossplay” checkbox sets every required option.
Why a console player cannot see or join the server
Crossplay is off for one player
Have every participant open the General settings and verify Crossplay Enabled. The setting is local to each game installation, so one player disabling it can prevent that player from joining even when the server is configured correctly.
PC protection is disabled
On PC, verify EAC Protected in the player’s settings and EACEnabled=true on a dedicated server. A protected server is not the same as merely enabling the crossplay checkbox.
The dedicated-server keys are wrong
Recheck spelling, capitalization, and values for ServerAllowCrossplay, EACEnabled, and IgnoreEOSSanctions. The required combination is true, true, and false, respectively. Also confirm that ServerMaxPlayerCount is no higher than 8.

A gameplay value is outside the permitted range
Compare the saved configuration, not just the panel’s displayed summary, with the Help Center ranges. Common causes include a loot-abundance value over 200, a blood-moon enemy count below 4 or above 64, a day/night length below 10, or a loot-respawn value below 5 when it is not intentionally set to 0.
The server was not restarted
Stop and start the server after saving. Then wait for the browser listing to refresh and search again. A running process may continue using its previous configuration until a full restart.

Compare the complete version number on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Install pending updates, restart the game, and retry. Console certification can delay an update on one platform, so a platform-specific release delay can be the cause even when the server settings are correct.
The world or player limit is too large
Set the world size to 8192 or less and the player limit to eight or less. These are the limits identified for V1.2 cross-platform play.

The listing is stale
Close and reopen the server browser, search by the exact server name, and allow time for the restarted server to reappear. If a direct invite is available, test it after the server is visible; this distinguishes a browser-refresh problem from a compatibility problem.

Self-hosting gives you direct access to the configuration and lets you verify every required key, but you must handle restarts, backups, network reachability, and hardware reliability yourself. A paid game-server host usually provides a control panel and automated server operation, but the decisive question is whether the provider exposes all crossplay settings and supports the console-compatible limits.

Before choosing a host, ask these specific questions:
- Can you edit
ServerAllowCrossplay,EACEnabled, andIgnoreEOSSanctions? - Can you set the player cap to eight and the world size to 8192?
- Does the panel expose every gameplay value in the Help Center range table?
- Are automated backups available, and can you restore a world after a bad configuration change?
- Where is the server geographically located relative to the players?
- What restart and support process applies when a console update changes compatibility?
- Does the provider maintain current 7 Days to Die crossplay documentation?
Current hosting prices, uptime percentages, and affiliate terms are not established here, so compare those directly on the provider’s current service pages before purchasing.
Recommended verification sequence
Use this order when diagnosing a new setup. It isolates configuration errors before you spend time investigating network behavior.
- Join locally or as the host and confirm the world starts normally.
- Verify Crossplay Enabled for every player.
- Verify PC players use EAC Protected.
- Inspect the four dedicated-server keys, if applicable.
- Check the nine gameplay ranges and the two platform limits: eight players and world size 8192.
- Confirm all platforms report the same game version and have completed pending updates.
- Restart the server.
- Search from a console account after the server is online.
- Test with one console player before inviting the full group. If that works, add the remaining players one at a time.
Settings to preserve when updating or migrating
Keep a copy of the working configuration before changing the game version, moving to another host, or switching between player hosting and a dedicated server. Migration tools and control panels can reset advanced options to defaults. After migration, compare the saved values against the required keys and range table rather than assuming the old profile carried over.
