As of October 17, 2026, you cannot enable DLSS 5 in Hogwarts Legacy yet. NVIDIA has announced a game update for November 5, 2026, but has not published the Hogwarts Legacy menu path, toggle name, restart requirement, or any DLSS 5 quality selector. The safest approach is to update the game when that patch arrives, verify that your platform is supported, and then use the control documented in the live game or its official patch notes.
There is an important terminology trap: DLSS 5 Neural Rendering is not the same setting as DLSS Super Resolution Quality, Performance, or Ultra Performance. The resolution-based modes belong to Super Resolution, while DLSS 5 is NVIDIA’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering technology for adding lighting and material detail.

When DLSS 5 arrives in Hogwarts Legacy
NVIDIA announced on October 13, 2026 that a Hogwarts Legacy update adding DLSS Neural Rendering will launch on November 5, 2026. The announcement names GeForce RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark as supported platforms. It does not provide a Hogwarts Legacy settings path or identify a minimum graphics-card model.
NVIDIA’s wording is specific: “In a new update launching November 5th, DLSS Neural Rendering will be added to Hogwarts Legacy, and its other DLSS technologies upgraded to their newest versions.” That is a release announcement, not a published how-to guide. Until the update is live, an existing installation cannot be expected to contain a DLSS 5 toggle.

Do not treat an unlisted option, an unofficial mod, or an RTX Remix tutorial as confirmation that the game supports DLSS 5 today. NVIDIA’s RTX Remix instructions concern that separate runtime and toolkit, not Hogwarts Legacy.
DLSS 5 and DLSS quality modes are different controls
DLSS is a family of technologies, so similarly named options can describe different jobs. NVIDIA’s technical overview describes DLSS 5 as 3D-Guided Neural Rendering: it uses game data and neural rendering to add visual detail such as lighting and material information while retaining artist control. DLSS Super Resolution instead reconstructs a higher-resolution image from a lower-resolution input to improve performance. NVIDIA’s general descriptions are available in its DLSS and GeForce RTX feature guide.
| Feature | Primary purpose | How it relates to DLSS 5 |
|---|---|---|
| DLSS 5 Neural Rendering | Adds neural-rendered lighting and material detail. | This is the feature announced for the November 5 Hogwarts Legacy update. |
| DLSS Super Resolution | Reconstructs a higher-resolution image from a lower-resolution render. | Its Quality, Performance, and Ultra Performance choices are not DLSS 5 modes. |
| DLAA | Uses native-resolution input for image-quality-focused anti-aliasing rather than a performance-oriented upscale. | It is an alternative to Super Resolution, not a DLSS 5 setting. |
| Ray Reconstruction | Improves the reconstruction of ray-traced lighting. | NVIDIA says Hogwarts Legacy already supports it on GeForce RTX PCs and laptops. |
| Frame Generation | Generates additional frames between traditionally rendered frames. | It is separate from Neural Rendering. |
| Multi Frame Generation | Generates multiple additional frames from rendered frames. | NVIDIA says it is already supported in Hogwarts Legacy on GeForce RTX PCs and laptops. |
Because these technologies can appear in the same graphics menu, read each label rather than assuming that a Quality preset turns on DLSS 5. A Super Resolution mode changes the internal-resolution and reconstruction trade-off; Neural Rendering is the announced lighting-and-material feature.

NVIDIA’s October announcement lists three platform categories. It does not state that every RTX card, every console, or every PC configuration will receive DLSS 5. It also does not publish regional availability, subscription terms, latency expectations, or a minimum local GPU model.
| Access route | What NVIDIA announced | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Local PC with GeForce RTX 50 Series | Named as a supported platform for the November 5 update. | Install the game update on a compatible RTX 50 Series system and check the new in-game controls. |
| GeForce NOW | Named as a supported platform. | The feature depends on the service’s updated game build and the cloud session exposing the setting; local GPU ownership is not automatically required. |
| RTX Spark | Named as a supported platform. | Use the updated title supplied for that platform and follow its published update process. |
A local RTX 50 Series graphics card is therefore one route, not a universal prerequisite. Conversely, the announcement does not establish that an older RTX card will gain DLSS 5 in Hogwarts Legacy simply because it supports other DLSS features.
How to enable DLSS 5 after the update
The following is the reliable post-release workflow. It deliberately avoids inventing a menu path that NVIDIA has not published.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
- Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
- Wait for the November 5, 2026 game update. Before that date, do not expect to find a confirmed DLSS 5 option in the retail game.
- Update the game through your platform. On a local PC, allow the game client to download the Hogwarts Legacy patch. On GeForce NOW or RTX Spark, wait until the service or platform reports that its Hogwarts Legacy build has been updated.
- Verify the installed game version. Use the platform’s version information or the official patch notes. A driver update alone cannot add a game menu that the game build does not contain.
- Open Hogwarts Legacy’s graphics settings. Look for the control named in the live patch notes or the updated in-game interface. Do not assume it will be called exactly “DLSS 5”; NVIDIA’s announcement calls the feature “DLSS Neural Rendering.”
- Enable Neural Rendering only after confirming the label. Keep the Neural Rendering control separate from Super Resolution, Frame Generation, Multi Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA. The announcement does not yet say whether the controls are grouped or independent.
- Apply the change and follow any on-screen instruction. Whether a restart or shader compilation is required remains unpublished. If the game asks to restart, do so; if it applies the setting immediately, no additional step is needed.
- Record the setting and test at your normal output resolution. Compare image stability, lighting detail, and frame rate using the same scene and graphics settings. No independent Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5 benchmark is available in the cited material, so your result will depend on hardware, display resolution, ray-tracing options, and the final patch.
If the November update is installed but no Neural Rendering control appears, first confirm the game build and platform eligibility. Do not substitute instructions for RTX Remix, and do not mistake a Frame Generation preset in the NVIDIA app for the Hogwarts Legacy DLSS 5 feature.

Choosing Super Resolution Quality, Performance, or Ultra Performance
These modes apply to DLSS Super Resolution, not to DLSS 5 Neural Rendering. NVIDIA’s published resolution guidance gives a starting point:
| Display output | NVIDIA’s general Super Resolution recommendation | How to use the recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| 1920×1080 (1080p) | Quality | Start with Quality. Move lower only if performance remains inadequate after checking other settings. |
| 2560×1440 (1440p) | Quality | Start with Quality and inspect fine detail, foliage, hair, and motion for stability. |
| 3840×2160 (4K) | Performance | Use Performance as NVIDIA’s general 4K starting point, then compare image reconstruction in your game. |
| 7680×4320 (8K) | Ultra Performance | Use Ultra Performance as NVIDIA’s general 8K recommendation when the performance cost of higher input resolution is too great. |
This table reproduces vendor guidance from NVIDIA’s feature list; it is not a Hogwarts Legacy benchmark. The best-looking choice on a particular display can differ because of GPU performance, refresh rate, ray tracing, viewing distance, and the final game patch.
At 1080p
Quality is the sensible first setting because the output image is relatively small and aggressive reconstruction can make fine geometry, text, foliage, or distant details less stable. If the game already meets your frame-rate target, changing to Performance solely because it is available may reduce input resolution without a clear benefit.
At 1440p
Quality is also NVIDIA’s starting point at 1440p. Check moving foliage, thin branches, hair, specular highlights, and stair-step edges while panning the camera. If performance is short of your target, change one setting at a time so you can identify whether Super Resolution or another graphics option caused the visible difference.
At 4K
NVIDIA recommends Performance for 3840×2160 output. This does not mean every player should use it permanently: if your hardware can sustain the desired frame rate with Quality, you can compare both modes and choose the image you prefer. The available evidence does not establish a Hogwarts Legacy-specific winner.

At 8K
NVIDIA’s general recommendation is Ultra Performance at 7680×4320. At this output, the internal-resolution savings are substantial, but the lower input image can make reconstruction artifacts easier to notice. Judge the result on your actual 8K display rather than transferring expectations from 4K.
How other DLSS options fit into the decision
DLAA
DLAA targets image quality at native resolution instead of using Super Resolution to increase performance. It can be appropriate when your system already has sufficient headroom and your priority is native-resolution anti-aliasing. It is not a hidden DLSS 5 mode.
Ray Reconstruction
Ray Reconstruction addresses ray-traced lighting reconstruction. NVIDIA says Hogwarts Legacy already supports it on GeForce RTX PCs and laptops. Its presence does not indicate that the November update’s Neural Rendering control is enabled.
Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation
Frame Generation technologies create additional displayed frames and should be evaluated separately from Super Resolution and Neural Rendering. NVIDIA’s October announcement says Hogwarts Legacy already supports Multi Frame Generation on GeForce RTX PCs and laptops. The same announcement discusses a beta Frame Generation performance mode called Preset C in the NVIDIA app; that mode is separate from DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in Hogwarts Legacy.

Assuming every RTX GPU qualifies
NVIDIA names GeForce RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark for this update but does not list every GPU generation or a minimum model. Do not infer universal RTX support from the fact that earlier RTX systems have other DLSS features.

NVIDIA reports that its updated DLSS 5 model has a 24% smaller model footprint, roughly 118 million parameters, and 20% lower 4K VRAM usage. Those are general model-update figures, not measurements from Hogwarts Legacy. NVIDIA also cites up to 1.4× frame rates for the model’s debut in NBA 2K27, which is not a Hogwarts Legacy result. The announcement’s claim of up to 35% faster performance on a GeForce RTX 5060 concerns the separate Frame Generation Preset C mode, not DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in this game.
Following RTX Remix directions
RTX Remix has its own developer and runtime workflow. Those instructions do not tell you how to enable an in-game setting in Hogwarts Legacy.
What Avalanche and NVIDIA say about the integration
NVIDIA says Avalanche Software used DLSS 5 SDK controls to tune the integration while maintaining Hogwarts Legacy’s artistic intent and style. That is NVIDIA’s description of the development approach, not an independent assessment of the final image. The update’s actual visual behavior should be judged after the live patch is available.
NVIDIA’s March 16, 2026 announcement describes DLSS 5 as combining hand-crafted rendering with generative AI and preserving artist control. That explanation helps clarify why Neural Rendering is a rendering feature rather than another resolution preset, but it does not reveal a Hogwarts Legacy-specific menu layout.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA post-update verification checklist
Use this checklist once the November patch is live:
- Confirm the game reports the November 5 update or a later build.
- Confirm that your access route is one of NVIDIA’s named platforms: GeForce RTX 50 Series, GeForce NOW, or RTX Spark.
- Read the official patch notes for the exact control name and any restart or shader-compilation requirement.
- Find the Neural Rendering control without confusing it with Super Resolution, DLAA, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation, or Multi Frame Generation.
- Choose Super Resolution separately using your output resolution as the initial guide: Quality for 1080p and 1440p, Performance for 4K, and Ultra Performance for 8K.
- Compare the result in a repeatable scene at the same resolution, refresh rate, ray-tracing settings, and frame-generation configuration.
- If the option is missing, recheck the game version and platform before changing drivers or reinstalling the game.
Why there is no confirmed Hogwarts Legacy setting path yet
The available official material covers the announcement date, supported platform categories, DLSS feature definitions, and general Super Resolution guidance. It does not include an official Hogwarts Legacy settings guide or post-release patch notes with the control location. Providing a menu path now would therefore risk sending players to a setting that does not yet exist or labeling an existing Super Resolution control as DLSS 5.
For that reason, the correct answer to “How do I turn on DLSS 5 in Hogwarts Legacy?” is currently: you cannot do so through a confirmed public in-game procedure before the November 5 update. After release, use the updated game’s documented control, then select Super Resolution mode independently according to your display resolution and performance needs.
