To use the Range Finder in Battlefield 6, equip it on a compatible sniper rifle or DMR in the weapon’s Right Accessory slot, then aim down sights and hold B on PC or Down on a controller’s D-pad using default controls. Check the zeroing distance shown above your ammo count before firing.
How to equip the Range Finder

From the main menu, open Loadouts, one tab over from Play, and choose the weapon in the relevant loadout. EA’s loadout guide explains that weapons can be customized with attachments subject to Attachment Point limits.

Select a compatible sniper rifle or DMR. Gameplay guides report that the attachment unlocks at Mastery Rank 4 for that specific weapon; the M2010 ESR and M39 EMR are cited as examples. Check the weapon’s in-game menu for its current compatibility and unlock status.

In weapon customization, equip Range Finder in the Right Accessory slot. The guides report a cost of 10 Attachment Points and say a magnified optic is required. EA’s reviewed public guide does not specify those Range Finder details, so treat them as guide-reported mechanics rather than an official attachment specification.

EA says weapons can be tested in the Loadout’s Firing Range. It is a convenient place to get familiar with the weapon and its settings before a match.
How to activate it in a match

Aim down sights at the target or the point where you want your shot to land.

Hold B on PC or hold Down on the controller D-pad. These are the default inputs reported by the gameplay guides; hold the input rather than tapping it.

Look for the zeroing distance above the ammunition count in the HUD. Once it updates, fire. Recalibrate when the distance of the engagement changes.

If the input does nothing, check that the Range Finder and a magnified optic are equipped, then verify your current key or controller mapping. Custom controls may differ from the defaults.
What the Range Finder does—and what it does not
The guides describe the attachment as measuring the distance at the reticle and setting the weapon’s zero to that range. Zeroing helps account for bullet drop at the calibrated distance; it does not aim for you, track an enemy, or lead a moving target.

According to the guides, the zeroing range runs from 100m to 500m in 100m steps. Targets closer than 100m still use the 100m minimum. EA’s Recon class guide describes Recon’s role in stealth, scouting, and gathering information, and notes the need to account for bullet drop at long distances. The Range Finder is a distance-zeroing aid, not a substitute for spotting or tracking a target.

If you have not unlocked or equipped the attachment, the guides describe pinging the target to read its distance and adjusting zeroing manually in 100m increments with the zeroing input. This avoids the attachment’s reported 10-point cost, but requires you to make the distance adjustment yourself. The sources do not establish controlled accuracy or performance comparisons between the two methods.

Current patch context
EA’s reviewed Game Update 1.4.3.0 notes are dated September 14, 2026, with rollout scheduled for September 15. They do not mention a Range Finder change. The slot, unlock, point cost, optic requirement, inputs, and range limits above come from gameplay guides; the reviewed EA pages confirm the broader loadout and Recon context, but do not provide a current official Range Finder specification.
