Return to the lamp, reset the area, and repeat the same compact loop. A Bloodborne farming guide revised 15 March 2023 sums up the location plainly: “Central Yharnam is your answer.”
If you already have enough Blood Echoes to buy supplies, purchasing can be more time-efficient than forcing a drop route. When your bullet stock reaches zero, press Up to create five Blood Bullets by spending health, then heal before continuing if the area is still dangerous. Treat that conversion as an emergency bridge, not as a replacement for a stocked supply of Quicksilver Bullets.

The key is not a theoretical maximum from a single enemy. It is a loop you can complete repeatedly without dying, spending excessive healing items, or taking a long detour back to the lamp.

The route lets you collect Vials from ordinary Huntsmen and beasts while checking the rifle and wheelchair Huntsmen for bullets. You do not need to choose a separate location for every reset.

The farming guide’s wording, “Central Yharnam is your answer,” is best understood as an accessibility verdict, not a promise that every individual enemy has the highest possible drop rate. Enemy variants have different quantities and chances. A route that is slightly less generous on paper can still produce more usable supplies if you clear it safely and quickly every time.
Early-game Central Yharnam loop
1. Start at the Central Yharnam lamp
Begin each run at the Central Yharnam lamp so the route has a fixed starting point. Consistent starts make it easier to judge whether a change in your path is actually saving time or merely moving the same work around.
2. Clear the nearby Huntsmen and street mobs
Move through the nearby streets and houses, defeating the Huntsmen and other mobs in the compact area. Pick up Blood Vials as you go. The named groups associated with Vial drops include Scourge Beasts, Large Huntsmen and Huntsman Minions.
Do not rush past a group just because you entered the area for bullets. The same clear supplies your Vial stock and produces Blood Echoes that can later be converted into purchased supplies. A complete, controlled sweep is usually more useful than repeatedly killing only one enemy and making a dangerous return trip.
3. Prioritize rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen for bullets
If Quicksilver Bullets are the resource stopping your progress, make rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen your priority targets. They are the specific enemy groups identified for bullet farming in Central Yharnam. Deal with them early enough that you are not carrying a nearly empty firearm through the rest of the route.
One listed Huntsman Rifle variant drops three Quicksilver Bullets at a 100% chance in its recorded area. That figure applies to the named variant and location in the enemy table; it is not a universal rate for every Huntsman in Central Yharnam.
4. Finish the Vial-producing groups
After the bullet targets are down, clear the larger melee enemies and beasts that remain on your route. This is where the loop pays for itself in Blood Vials. Keep the circuit short enough that you are not using more healing to finish it than you are collecting.

5. Return to the lamp and reset
Return to the Central Yharnam lamp after the sweep, reset the area, and repeat. A reset is part of the route, not an interruption: it restores the enemies that make the loop repeatable. If a run ends in a death, note where the failure happened and shorten or reorder the path rather than adding more enemies to the next attempt.
How to make the loop efficient as you progress
Choose repeatability over a theoretical maximum
Drop quantity and chance vary by enemy variant. The enemy tables show why a single impressive entry should not dictate your entire farming plan: one rifle Huntsman entry lists three Quicksilver Bullets at 100%, while other Huntsman variants have lower listed chances. Build around the set of enemies you can clear consistently, not the one drop line that looks best in isolation.
Measure the whole cycle
Compare a route by the complete lamp-to-lamp cycle. Consider the time to reach each group, the time to return, and the risk of losing the run. A shorter path that produces fewer items per reset can outperform a longer path if it allows more safe resets in the same play session.
- Access: how far you have progressed and whether the lamp is already available.
- Clear time: how long one complete sweep takes, including the return.
- Death risk: whether a crowded fight or ranged attacker regularly ends the run.
- Healing cost: how many Vials you spend to complete the route.
- Yield: how many Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets you actually collect per reset.
- Echo value: whether the same enemies provide enough Blood Echoes to make buying supplies attractive.
Keep the safest order for your character
There is no requirement to copy one rigid enemy order. If rifle Huntsmen are the immediate threat, remove them first. If your Vial reserve is the emergency, clear the nearby melee groups before taking a difficult ranged fight. The best mid-game route is the shortest safe loop for your current weapon, level and healing reserve.

Farming Blood Vials without wasting the run
Blood Vials are the more common objective in the Central Yharnam loop. Scourge Beasts, Large Huntsmen and Huntsman Minions are the named sources associated with Vial drops in the guide. The practical pattern is simple: clear the ordinary street enemies, collect every drop, and reset as soon as the route stops being efficient.
Use the loop when you need both healing and Echoes
Farming enemies has a second benefit: the clear also earns Blood Echoes. If you are close to the amount needed for supplies, a Central Yharnam run can provide Vials while moving you toward a purchase. This makes the route especially useful after a difficult death, when you need to rebuild both your consumable stock and your spending currency.
Buy instead when Echoes are already available
If you already have enough Blood Echoes to buy the supplies you need, purchasing can be more time-efficient than drop farming. The decision is straightforward: spend the currency when obtaining it is faster than running the loop, and farm when the route also solves an Echo shortage or when you want to preserve your currency for another purpose.

Do not turn a Vial farm into a death spiral
A route that consumes several Vials every cycle is not a good Vial farm, even if it produces drops. Reduce the route to the enemies you can defeat reliably, or reset earlier. The purpose of the loop is to increase your reserve, so the clear must cost fewer Vials than it returns over repeated cycles.

Farming Quicksilver Bullets efficiently
Use rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen first
When bullets are the limiting resource, target rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen in Central Yharnam. These are the enemy groups specifically associated with Quicksilver Bullet drops in the early-game route. They should receive your attention before you spend time on low-priority fights.
Quicksilver Bullets also appear as treasures and enemy drops throughout the main story, downloadable content and chalice dungeons. Those sources can supplement your stock as you explore, but the Central Yharnam lamp loop remains the straightforward repeatable answer at the start of the game.
Reserve Quicksilver Bullets for their critical uses
Use the stockpile for firearms and parries, where having ammunition available can change a fight. If you spend every bullet on routine shots, you can create a shortage that forces an otherwise unnecessary farm. A deliberate reserve also means you can use Blood Bullets only when a specific firearm or parry is worth the health cost.
Understand the listed drop figure
The documented example of three Quicksilver Bullets at a 100% chance belongs to one Huntsman Rifle variant in one listed area. Other Huntsman entries have lower listed chances, so do not assume every rifle-wielding enemy will produce three bullets. Treat the figure as a comparison point for a target, not as a guarantee for the entire neighborhood.
Late-game and DLC option: Research Hall
Research Hall becomes a useful ammunition supplement after you unlock it. Its enemy table lists a Gatling-wheelchair enemy that drops six Quicksilver Bullets at a 76% chance. That is a stronger documented bullet drop than the early-game examples, but the area is progression-gated and therefore cannot replace Central Yharnam for a new character.
When Research Hall is worth switching to
Consider the Research Hall route when you can reach it safely and clear its enemies without spending a large portion of your ammunition or healing reserve. The listed six-bullet, 76% drop is attractive only if the full route remains repeatable. If the area is still causing deaths, Central Yharnam may produce more usable bullets over time because you can reset it reliably.

Supplement bullets with Church Servants
The Research Hall table also lists Blood Vial drops from Church Servants. This gives the later route value beyond ammunition: it can support both resources once the area is available. Keep the same evaluation standard as before—compare a complete clear, return and reset rather than one enemy’s drop in isolation.
Blood Bullets: the emergency bridge when you run out
Yes, you can create ammunition when your Quicksilver Bullet stock is empty. Press Up to make five Blood Bullets by paying with your own health. The conversion is immediate, but the health cost can leave you vulnerable, so heal afterward if the area remains dangerous.

Use the conversion deliberately
- Confirm that a firearm or parry is necessary for the next encounter.
- Press Up to create five Blood Bullets from your health.
- Move to safety or create distance before healing if enemies are still attacking.
- Spend the emergency bullets on the shot or parry that justifies the health cost.
- Return to the Central Yharnam loop, a purchase option or a later drop source to rebuild your Quicksilver stock.
Blood Bullets are not a free refill. They exchange one survival resource for another, so making them repeatedly during an already dangerous fight can leave you worse off. Their best use is to bridge a temporary shortage until you can farm or buy normal ammunition.
Fixed pickups and one-time supplements
Iosefka’s Clinic has several useful pickups to remember. The clinic courtyard contains a ten-bullet treasure, and two Blood Vials are listed inside the clinic. Brainsucker enemies can drop three or four Quicksilver Bullets. These are valuable when you first reach them, but they are not a permanently repeatable lamp loop.
How to use the clinic pickups
Collect the fixed treasure and the two Vials while exploring the clinic, then treat them as a one-time boost to your reserve. Do not plan a farming schedule around revisiting a treasure that has already been collected. Brainsucker drops can supplement the stock when those enemies are part of your progression, but the repeatable Central Yharnam and Research Hall routes are easier to evaluate by reset.

- How long is one complete reset? Count the trip from lamp to the final target and back, not just the combat.
- What do you receive per reset? Track Blood Vials and Quicksilver Bullets separately so a good Vial route is not mistaken for a good ammunition route.
- How often do you die? A route with a high listed drop can still lose time if failed runs erase the benefit.
- How much healing do you spend? A Vial farm should not consume its own output.
- Does the route also produce Blood Echoes? Echoes can make buying supplies faster than continuing to farm.
On the evidence available for these locations, Central Yharnam is strongest for accessibility and simplicity. Research Hall is a later alternative with a documented high-yield ammunition target, while the clinic treasure and Brainsucker drops are supplemental rather than repeatable foundations.

Common problems and fixes
“I am getting Vials but not enough bullets.”
Reorder the Central Yharnam run so rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen are guaranteed attention before you reset. Their drops are the specific bullet targets; ordinary Huntsmen and beasts are primarily useful for Vials.
“The route takes too long.”
Remove optional fights and keep only the groups that address your current shortage. If you already have enough Vials, focus on the bullet targets. If you need both resources, retain the Vial-producing groups but avoid a detour that adds danger without a documented drop benefit.
“I spend more Vials than I collect.”
Shorten the circuit, change the order of enemies, or return to the lamp earlier. The safest repeatable clear is more valuable than completing a difficult section that consumes your reserve.
“I keep dying while trying to reach a better late-game drop.”
Return to the shortest safe route. Research Hall’s six-bullet, 76% Gatling-wheelchair entry is useful only after the area is unlocked and the enemy can be handled consistently. A reliable Central Yharnam reset can outperform a failed Research Hall attempt.
“I forgot where the guaranteed pickups were.”
Remember the Iosefka’s Clinic courtyard treasure containing ten bullets and the two Blood Vials inside the clinic. Brainsuckers can also provide three or four Quicksilver Bullets, but these sources should be treated as exploration rewards or supplements, not an infinite farm.
A repeatable farming routine
- Check whether buying supplies with your current Blood Echoes is faster than farming.
- If farming, spawn at the Central Yharnam lamp for the early-game route.
- Kill rifle Huntsmen and wheelchair Huntsmen first when Quicksilver Bullets are the bottleneck.
- Clear Scourge Beasts, Large Huntsmen, Huntsman Minions and nearby street mobs for Blood Vials.
- Collect the drops and stop the run before a low-value, high-risk detour.
- Return to the lamp, reset the area and repeat the same safe circuit.
- If you run out of Quicksilver Bullets during an urgent encounter, press Up for five Blood Bullets and heal after the conversion when safe.
- After Research Hall is unlocked, compare its complete clear against Central Yharnam rather than switching solely because one enemy lists a larger drop.
This routine answers the two practical questions behind most farming attempts: where to start and when to stop. Central Yharnam supplies the accessible baseline, Research Hall offers a progression-gated later supplement, fixed clinic pickups provide one-time help, and Blood Bullets prevent an empty ammunition bar from ending a necessary fight.
