To fast travel between layers in Donkey Kong Bananza, use a Warp Gong: open the map, choose a blue Warp Gong you have visited, and press A to call the Eelavator. Nintendo says it can take Donkey Kong to previous layers you have already visited. For travel to known destinations within a layer, select a visited Checkpoint, Warp Gong, or Getaway icon on the map instead.
How to travel between layers
- Press the minus button to open the map.
- Select a blue Warp Gong icon you have visited.
- Press A to call the Eelavator.
- Use the Eelavator to travel to a previous layer you have already visited. Nintendo describes the Warp Gong as summoning a massive Eelavator that can take Donkey Kong to those layers (Nintendo’s official guide).
Fast travel to destinations within a layer
The map also lets you select known Checkpoint, Warp Gong, and Getaway icons and press A to call the Eelavator. These map destinations are distinct from moving between layers: Nintendo describes inter-layer travel through a Warp Gong and its Eelavator. An independent guide says layer selection is not done directly from the map (AEL Games).
When fast travel becomes available
Independent guides report that the system is introduced after the Peekabruiser fight, when you speak to a blue eel near the sinkhole leading to Hilltop Layer. Nintendo’s guide explains how to use the travel icons and Warp Gongs but does not state this unlock sequence, so treat it as independently reported gameplay guidance (AEL Games).
AEL Games also reports that you cannot select a layer you have not visited and that travel has no cost; Nintendo’s guide does not specify a travel cost. To reach a new lower layer, progress through the game: Nintendo says enemies guard the routes, and defeating them opens giant sinkholes that clear a path downward (Nintendo’s game page).
