Search a 3D platformer in deliberate passes: clear the main route, inspect nearby branches and vertical paths, then mark suspicious or unreachable spots to revisit when you gain new movement abilities. “Rescue” is game-specific—Astro Bot, for example, sends players to rescue scattered bots, while other platformers use different collectibles and objectives.
Search each level in deliberate passes
There is no universal hiding-place checklist for every 3D platformer. Treat the following as a practical search routine, then adapt it to the game’s controls, level design, and tutorials.

- Follow the main route once. Notice branches, landmarks, and any visible counters without stopping to inspect every corner. This gives you a mental map of the area.
- Check nearby routes. Look around large objects and corners, and inspect paths that branch from the route. Check above and below your usual jump line for ledges or platforms that are easy to pass.
- Investigate environmental oddities. A conspicuous gap, isolated platform, unusual surface, or route that appears to continue beyond the camera may be worth checking. These are clues to investigate, not guaranteed signals of a collectible.
- Record anything you cannot reach. Note the location and what seems to block you. Return after gaining a movement power that might make the route accessible.
Tell hidden items apart from blocked routes and puzzles
A visible prize may be behind a puzzle, a secret entrance, or a route that requires an ability you do not have yet. Those situations call for different approaches: explore the surroundings for puzzle clues, test the controls the game has taught you, or leave a marker and come back after unlocking new movement.
Astro’s Playroom is a concrete example of ability-gated traversal: its Monkey Suit enables climbing steep walls. That does not mean another game will use the same ability or signal. Follow each game’s own tutorials and visual language rather than assuming one trick works everywhere.

Keep a simple area-by-area record
A short checklist prevents you from searching the same completed spaces repeatedly and makes it easier to ask for targeted help later. Use a notebook or notes app if the game does not provide a tracking feature; no standard map or tracking interface applies across the genre.
- Write down the level or area and its visible collectible counter, if there is one.
- Mark the main route and side paths you have checked.
- Record suspicious locations, including why you could not reach them.
- After unlocking an ability, revisit only the areas where it might help.
Use guides for specific gaps, not as a substitute for checking
If you are stuck, search for the exact game, level, and collectible name. A community-made guide can point you toward a missed location, but its existence does not establish that it is complete or accurate. For example, a Steam Community listing for Raccoo Venture offers player-created 101% collectible material; check that any guide you use matches your game version and platform, then confirm its directions in the game.

Use completion rewards to plan a cleanup pass
Some games attach optional challenges or other content to collecting, so check the game’s own completion indicators and official information when deciding whether a thorough search is worthwhile. Team Asobi said that collecting all artifacts and puzzle pieces in Astro’s Playroom’s main campaign unlocks eight speed-run challenges. That is a reward in this particular game, not a genre-wide rule.

What the Astro games show about rescue and collecting
Astro Bot: scattered characters across many planets
Team Asobi studio head Nicolas Doucet described Astro Bot’s mission as rescuing “the 300 bots crew who got scattered all over the galaxies.” PlayStation describes Astro Bot as a single-player PS5 3D action platformer with more than 50 planets. Together, those details make it a clear example of a rescue-centered platformer with searching across multiple areas; they do not provide a complete route or locations for individual bots. Astro’s Playroom: collecting that opens another challenge
In 2020, Team Asobi described Astro’s Playroom as an action platformer with four worlds and 16 stages, featuring power-up suits, PlayStation-history artifacts, puzzle pieces, cameos, and Easter eggs. The developer said the game contains 96 puzzle pieces and more than 60 hidden cameos, and that collecting all main-campaign artifacts and puzzle pieces unlocks eight speed-run challenges.
