Both Beorcan’s Twinned Keys are hidden in separate underground chests close to the locked door at Beorcan Stronghold in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. The first chest is beneath an ice-covered hatch in church-like ruins. The second is reached from behind a nearby locked ruin, through an underground hallway and up a ladder covered in mushrooms.
Frozen Beorcan figures mark both hatches. Break the ice over the first hatch, descend to its small room, then use the rear entrance and underground route for the second key. The door itself is optional if you are pursuing only the main story.

Beorcan’s Twinned Keys: location at a glance
Start from the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door. Both key chests are in the immediate area rather than in distant parts of the stronghold, but they use different landmarks and underground entrances.
| Key | Landmark | Entrance | Route hazard or feature | Chest location |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First key | Church- or chapel-like ruins at the right-hand bend when moving away from the door | Ice-covered hatch with a frozen Beorcan pointing toward it | Break the ice, then make a short ladder descent | Small underground room beneath the hatch |
| Second key | Small ruin near the door whose door is locked from the other side | Hatch behind the ruin, beside a small wall, marked by another frozen Beorcan | Underground hallway with an enemy; ladder with mushrooms growing on it | Room behind the locked door |
The game’s precise inventory wording for the two keys is not established by the available walkthrough descriptions, so use the chest locations and landmarks rather than relying on a particular item-name variation.
#1 Best Overall
- A Grand Adventure – Dragon’s Dogma 2 begins in a subterranean jail, where the Dragon’s voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. With their heart taken by the Dragon, the Arisen is set on a path to slay that symbol of the world’s destruction as it soars through the sky on massive wings, breathing flames that scorch everything in its path. With the Arisen’s future veiled in mystery, what challenges and triumphs await on the path to their destiny?
- Single-Player Cooperation – Up to three mysterious otherworldly beings, known as Pawns, accompany the Arisen throughout their journey. Pawns create the feeling of a cooperative gameplay experience by offering unique characteristics, skills, and knowledge gained from their experiences with other Arisen.
- Made with RE ENGINE – Capcom’s advanced RE ENGINE produces vividly detailed, high fidelity graphics combined with immersive physics and complex and reactive character AI to create a setting where decisions, and their consequences, come to life.
How to get the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key
1. Use the locked door as your starting point
Go to the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door at Beorcan Stronghold. The route begins there, so you do not need to search the entire location for a separate map marker.
2. Walk away from the door
Follow the path away from the locked door. Keep watching the bends instead of looking only for another doorway: the first entrance is in ruins along this path.
3. Check the ruins at the right-hand bend
At the bend to the right, inspect the ruins on the left. The guides describe them as resembling a church or chapel. This ruined structure is the landmark for the first key; if you have reached the second ruin with a door locked from the other side, you have gone to the wrong entrance.
4. Find the frozen hatch
Search the church-like ruins for a hatch sealed beneath ice. A frozen Beorcan is positioned to point toward the hatch. The top of a ladder can be seen through the frozen covering, which confirms that this is an underground entrance rather than a blocked surface doorway.

5. Break the ice
Destroy the ice covering the hatch. You do not need to locate a separate key or mechanism for this seal; the route continues through the opening once the ice is broken.
6. Descend and open the chest
Climb down the ladder into the small room below. Open the chest there to collect the first Beorcan’s Twinned Key. Once you have taken the key, return to the surface using the same ladder and continue to the second entrance if you still need the pair.
How to get the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key
1. Locate the nearby locked ruin
Return to the area around the Twinned Key door and find the small ruin nearby. Its door is locked from the other side, so trying to enter through that doorway will not begin the route to the second chest.

3. Look beside the small wall
Behind the ruin, search beside a small wall for a hatch. Another frozen Beorcan marks this entrance, just as the frozen figure marks the first hatch. This second figure is the reliable confirmation that you are in the correct position.
4. Descend into the underground hallway
Use the hatch to go below ground and follow the hallway. An enemy is present on this route, so be ready to deal with it before continuing through the passage.
5. Climb the mushroom-covered ladder
Continue until you reach a ladder with mushrooms growing on it. Climb this ladder. It is the distinctive traversal feature of the second route and separates it from the short ladder descent used for the first key.

The ladder brings you into the room on the far side of the locked ruin door. Open the chest in that room to obtain the second Beorcan’s Twinned Key. This route explains why the ruin’s door cannot be used as the initial entrance: the chest room is reached from below and behind.

How to tell the two routes apart
If you lose your bearings, identify the landmark before moving farther underground. The first route begins at church-like ruins on the left after the right-hand bend away from the door. Its hatch is frozen over, and the ladder top is visible through the ice. The second route begins at the rear of a small ruin whose surface door is locked from the other side. Its hatch is beside a small wall, and its underground passage contains an enemy before the mushroom-covered ladder.
| Navigation question | First-key answer | Second-key answer |
|---|---|---|
| Which surface structure should you inspect? | Church- or chapel-like ruins | Small ruin near the door |
| Where is the hatch? | In the ruins at the left side of the right-hand bend | Behind the ruin, beside a small wall |
| What marks the hatch? | Frozen Beorcan and ice covering | Another frozen Beorcan |
| What is the underground route like? | Short descent into a small room | Hallway, an enemy, then a mushroom-covered ladder |
| Where is the chest? | In the room directly below the first hatch | In the room behind the locked door |
What to do if the route seems blocked
The hatch appears to be an ordinary locked door
Check the surrounding landmarks. The first entrance is a hatch under ice, not a normal door. The second entrance is behind the ruin, not in the ruin’s locked front door. Frozen Beorcan figures are the intended visual indicators for both routes.
You cannot see the ladder at the first entrance
Make sure you are inspecting the ice-covered hatch in the church-like ruins. The top of the ladder is visible through the ice when you are looking at the correct opening. If there is no ladder visible, you are likely at the wrong ruin or facing a different piece of ice.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe second route ends at a locked door
Do not treat that surface door as the entrance. Walk around to the rear of the small ruin and find the hatch beside the small wall. The underground route is what places you in the room behind the door.

You reach a hallway but cannot find the second chest
Continue through the hallway and look for the ladder with mushrooms growing on it. The second chest is not in the hallway; it is in the room reached after climbing that ladder.
You are unsure whether both chests have been opened
Use the two distinct landmarks as a checklist: first, the ice-covered hatch in the church-like ruins; second, the rear hatch beside the small wall behind the locked ruin. Each route ends at its own chest, so visiting both marked entrances is the practical way to confirm that you have searched both locations.
Is opening Beorcan’s Twinned Keys door required?
No. The cited walkthroughs describe the locked-door challenge as optional when your goal is only to complete the main story. You can leave the door unopened without making the key hunt a mandatory story step.

Valuable rewards are reported to be behind the door, but the available guides do not identify those rewards. Do not rely on a specific loot list unless a later authoritative source documents it.
“The Beorcan’s Twinned Keys door is actually a completely optional challenge, and you don’t need to seek out the two keys if you’re only interested in the main story.”
— Dave Aubrey, Video Games Chronicle guide author, October 8, 2026
Recommended order for a clean search
- Stand at the locked Beorcan’s Twinned Key door.
- Move away from it and inspect the church-like ruins at the right-hand bend for the first frozen hatch.
- Break the ice, descend the short ladder and open the chest in the small room.
- Return to the door area and identify the nearby small ruin whose door is locked from the other side.
- Walk behind that ruin, find the second frozen Beorcan beside the small wall and use the hatch.
- Follow the underground hallway, deal with the enemy on the route and climb the mushroom-covered ladder.
- Open the chest in the room behind the locked door to collect the second key.
This order keeps the two entrances separate and uses the locked door as a fixed reference point throughout the search.
