To sell stolen goods in Oblivion Remastered, join the Thieves Guild and use one of its fences. Start by meeting Armand Cristophe in the Imperial City Waterfront District at midnight in-game time. If you want to sell an item before joining, Manheim Maulhand at the Inn of Ill Omen is a limited alternative.
Choose a fence: guild access or a limited alternative

The purchase limits are amounts reported by PC Gamer, not guaranteed sale prices for each item. Guild progress makes additional fences available and raises the limits you can access.
How to join the Thieves Guild
- Travel to the Imperial City Waterfront District and find Armand Cristophe at midnight in-game time.
- Speak with Armand and follow the dialogue to join the Thieves Guild. Bethesda Support identifies him as the guild contact and says membership is required to access its fences: Bethesda Support’s Thieves Guild guide.
- After joining, sell stolen goods to a fence and complete guild jobs to advance. Progress opens additional fences and higher purchasing limits.
Where to find available fences
Bethesda Support lists these examples of Thieves Guild fences. Which ones are available and their purchase limits depend on your guild progress.
- Ongar the World-Weary — Bruma: PC Gamer says he can be at home south of the church or at Olav’s Tap and Tack, just left of the city entrance. He is the initial guild fence described in that guide.
- Dar Jee — Leyawiin.
- Fathis Ules — Imperial City or Chorrol.
- Luciana Galena — Bravil.
- Orrin — Anvil.
To check which fences your character can use, ask Armand about the Thieves Guild, then choose “Where can I find a fence?” PC Gamer says this dialogue lists the fences currently available to you.

How to sell a stolen item
- Open your inventory and identify the stolen item. The original Oblivion PC manual describes a red hand icon as the stolen-item marker; it does not independently confirm that every interface detail is unchanged in Remastered.
- Go to a fence you have unlocked and open the barter screen.
- Select the stolen item and complete the sale. Regular merchants do not buy stolen goods. The original PC manual says: “Honest merchants won’t buy stolen goods, and they don’t even appear in the Barter Menu.” This is guidance from the original game’s manual, not Remastered-specific confirmation.
The manual also warns that guards can confiscate stolen items in your inventory if they arrest you, even if you were not caught stealing each item. This warning comes from the original game manual.
