Use the Community Card and the active quest prompt as your checklist, then search each region methodically. TOEM’s photo tasks range from photographing a named object to finding a hidden character or staging a selfie; the right approach depends on what the prompt asks you to capture. This guide explains that method and points to community walkthroughs organized by region, but the available location notes do not verify every photo spot or challenge target individually.
How photo challenges work in TOEM
TOEM: A Photo Adventure is a camera-based adventure: its official Steam description says, “Take photos with your camera to solve puzzles and help people!” (Steam store page). Photo challenges are part of that broader play, rather than a separate real-world photography activity.
Start with the Community Card and the active quest details. A quality-of-life update added a box that displays relevant quest information during photo-quest hand-ins, so you can check the requested subject instead of relying on memory. The April 11, 2022 update also added the ability to like or favorite album pictures (SteamDB update notes).
Identify what kind of photo the prompt requires
The examples in community walkthroughs point to three useful ways to think about a challenge. These are practical categories, not official in-game labels.

Subject challenges
Photograph the named object or character. In Oaklaville, Photo Challenge #1 asks for a mossy rock, a pine tree, and an axe; the walkthrough directs players to photograph an axe on a tree stump in the scout area (community challenge walkthrough). Match the requested subject, not just the general scenery around it.
Discovery challenges
Find a target that may be small, distant, or partly hidden. Raise the camera’s zoom and scan the scene from a broad or elevated viewpoint. Check tree lines, open spaces, edges, and corners rather than focusing on the first obvious object.

Composition challenges
Some objectives require a pose or arrangement, not merely a close-up of an item. The walkthrough describes “Become a Flower” as a selfie with the player posing behind a flower drawing, and becoming a farmer as a photo of the character behind a cardboard farmer display (community challenge walkthrough). When the prompt implies a pose, try changing the viewpoint, selfie orientation, zoom, or using the tripod.
Search each region systematically
- Check the Community Card and quest prompt. Note the subject and any clue about location, distance, or composition.
- Work through one region at a time. A community 100% walkthrough is indexed by Homelanda, Oaklaville, Stanhamn, Logcity, Kiiruberg, the Mountain Top, and BASTO, with separate walkthrough and challenge or collectible coverage (community 100% walkthrough).
- Survey the scene before moving on. Use zoom to inspect distant targets, then sweep the edges and obscured areas. An elevated or open vantage point can make a hidden target easier to distinguish.
- Adjust the frame to the clue. If a normal photo does not fit a prompt about posing or becoming something, test a selfie, tripod, different distance, or another viewpoint.
- Review the quest information when handing in. Use the in-context information box to confirm what the task asks for if you have lost track of its wording.
Example: finding the scouts in Oaklaville
The hide-and-seek walkthrough places four scouts across the forest: among trees on the right, near the middle, by the large boulder on the left, and on a tree in the upper-left. Zooming from a lookout helps reveal them. The same area also has a suspicious figure in the upper-right, a reminder that one scene can contain targets relevant to more than one task (community challenge walkthrough).
