The fastest way to find a Raider Cache is to use its mechanical audio cue. Stop near a suspected spawn, rotate slowly until the ticking is loudest, then move a few steps at a time toward it. Check brush, fence lines, walls, rocks and rubble. In Standard Patrol, Raider Caches do not require a key: interact with the large steel container and loot it.
How Raider Caches spawn
Ordinary Raider Caches can appear outside special events. Each map has a fixed pool of possible locations, but only a random subset is active in a raid. Community map data estimates roughly five to eight active caches on ordinary maps, so a marked location is never a guarantee.

A marker may be empty because that spawn was not selected for the raid—or because another Raider opened it first. Treat cache maps as route-planning tools, not exact treasure maps.

The quickest search method
- Travel to a suspected cache area and stop moving.
- Rotate slowly until the steady ticking or mechanical sound is loudest.
- Move several steps toward the sound, then stop and listen again.
- Repeat until you locate the large steel container.
- Check nearby foliage, shrubs, fence lines, walls, rocks and rubble before leaving.
Vehicle engines, firefights and dense points of interest can mask the sound. Headphones make the directional cue easier to follow. The cache can be partly hidden by thick vegetation, so do not rely on sight alone.

Best map tools and routes
Use a community interactive map to narrow your search before entering a dangerous area:
- ArcMaps: select the relevant zone and enable the CONTAINERS layer.
- Arc Raiders Hub: use the “First Wave Cache” or “Raider Cache” filters and route planning in the left sidebar.
- Coe’s interactive map: use its filter sidebar, search bar and clickable markers for location details.
Two commonly used route targets are the gap beneath the broken end of the raised highway between Raider Outpost East and East Broken Bridge on Dam Battlegrounds, and Marano Station on the outer edge of Buried City. At Marano Station, the relevant loot room is behind a breachable door. Breaching it makes substantial noise and may attract other Raiders, so listen and reposition before opening the room.

Uncovered Caches
Uncovered Caches is a map condition that increases the number and loot value of Raider Caches. It is not required for ordinary Raider Caches to spawn.

Raider Caches versus First Wave Caches
Do not treat these names as interchangeable:
- Raider Caches are the ordinary caches described above and can appear outside special events.
- First Wave Caches, also called Hurricane Caches by community guides, are a separate cache type associated with the Hurricane map condition and contain higher-value loot.
First Wave Cache markers are also possible locations, not guarantees. One current guide estimates approximately one cache per five to ten markers, although the ratio varies by raid. Stella Montis does not have First Wave Cache spawns during Hurricanes according to the current Arc Raiders Hub guide.
To locate a First Wave Cache, approach to roughly 30–50 metres, stop and listen for its mechanical sound with an electric tone, then move toward the signal. A separate guide reports that a red signal icon appears at about 20 metres and points toward the ground.

Current community guides disagree about whether ordinary Raider Caches remain alongside First Wave Caches during Hurricane conditions. Do not assume the two systems are interchangeable or make a definitive claim about their coexistence.
Audio settings that can help
Open settings with Esc while in Speranza or Topside; settings cannot be opened while downed or spectating. Under Audio, the relevant labels are:
- Output Mode
- Night Mode
- Music During Gameplay
- Master Volume
- Effects Volume
- Dialogue Volume
A community-tested troubleshooting setup is Output Mode: Stereo, Night Mode: On, music off and game sound at 100%. This is a reported workaround, not an official requirement.

Set an in-round waypoint through the map; it remains visible while you move toward it, regardless of distance. For tasks such as “Raider cache dug up” or “Dig up Raider stash,” reported progress triggers when you loot the cache. There is no separate digging interaction.
