How to Find Spamton NEO, Deltarune Chapter 2’s Secret Boss

Spamton NEO is Chapter 2’s secret boss. Follow the normal-route KeyGen and disk quest to unlock the optional Queen’s Mansion fight, or learn how the solo Weird/Snowgrave finale differs.

Spoilers: Deltarune Chapter 2’s secret boss is Spamton NEO. On the normal route, unlock the optional Queen’s Mansion basement fight by finding the KeyGen, retrieving EmptyDisk, and returning a LoadedDisk to the basement machine. On the Weird/Snowgrave route, Spamton NEO instead becomes the final boss and Kris fights alone.

Normal route: unlock the optional Spamton NEO fight

The normal-route encounter depends on completing Spamton’s disk quest. You need to meet him earlier in Cyber City, buy the KeyGen from his shop after reaching Queen’s Mansion, and retrieve the disk from the mansion basement.

1. Preserve Spamton’s shop quest and buy the KeyGen

During your first Cyber City encounter, progress through the deal dialogue and spare Spamton. After reaching Queen’s Mansion and regaining access to shortcut doors, return to his shop in the Trash Zone and buy the KeyGen. Its displayed price changes rapidly, so use the amount shown in your game rather than an older guide’s fixed figure.

2. Find the concealed basement passage

On the mansion’s first floor, explore the room reached through the traffic puzzle to the right of the teacup route toward the next floor. Look around the room containing statues and a ChainMail chest for the hidden passage. Hacker’s three blue checkmarks can help point to the interaction, but they are not a separate disk quest.

3. Retrieve EmptyDisk

  1. Open the hidden passage with the KeyGen, then use the shortcut to return to the mansion entrance.
  2. Use the KeyGen at the locked basement route.
  3. From the basement save point, take the western path through the dark rooms. Use the teacup lift to reach the switch that disables the forcefield.
  4. Return upward to the save-point area and take the newly opened eastern route across the tracks.
  5. Inspect the old machine at the end of the route to get EmptyDisk.

4. Turn EmptyDisk into LoadedDisk

Take EmptyDisk to Spamton’s shop and give it to him. He transfers himself onto the disk, creating LoadedDisk. Bring it back to the same basement machine and insert it. The encounter begins as Kris leaves; Susie and Ralsei join the fight.

What to expect from the normal-route fight

This is an optional Queen’s Mansion basement encounter and the Chapter 2 Shadow Crystal boss. The normal-route fight is a party battle with Kris, Susie, and Ralsei—not the solo finale encountered on the Weird/Snowgrave route.

Rewards depend on how you finish

The reported reward distinction is Dealmaker for defeating Spamton NEO through ACTs, or PuppetScarf for defeating him through damage. The fight also awards a Shadow Crystal. Check the current in-game commands and item descriptions, since combat details can change between versions.

Prepare your party

Equip the party and bring healing before using LoadedDisk. ButJuice heals one party member rather than the whole party. On PC, the F1 command-phase option is reported to provide a one-time heal for half the party’s HP; verify the current command and effect in your version.

Weird/Snowgrave route: a different encounter

The Weird/Snowgrave route is not an alternate way to trigger the basement quest. Spamton NEO ambushes Kris before the Fountain is sealed and serves as the route’s final boss. Kris fights alone, and the battle ends through ACT calls for help, eventually calling Noelle.

Route prerequisites

After Noelle joins in Cyber City, backtrack and use IceShock to freeze the relevant enemies. The route’s required sequence includes obtaining the FreezeRing in the Ferris-wheel-poster room, choosing “Proceed” when prompted, and freezing all available enemies before the Berdly fight. Then return to the dog dumpster for the ThornRing, equip it, and repeatedly command SnowGrave during Berdly’s encounter.

Do not use the normal route’s KeyGen, EmptyDisk, or LoadedDisk steps as a trigger for this version of Spamton NEO; the Weird Route has its own progression and the boss fight is solo.
