Historical Hypixel community guidance says these recipes unlock automatically; the in-game recipe display is the best place to check the ingredients and layout for your current server version.
Where to find the recipe
- Open the in-game recipe interface and go to the Combat recipe pages.
- Find the Griffin Upgrade Stone entry for the rarity you want and inspect its displayed ingredients and crafting layout.
- If you are raising a Griffin from its base rarity, check the Uncommon Griffin Upgrade Stone recipe: historical player guidance says it uses the Base Griffin Upgrade Stone as an ingredient.
The unlock and menu instructions come from a Hypixel player-help thread posted in November 2020, so treat them as historical guidance rather than a guarantee that every current interface or recipe is unchanged: Hypixel forum discussion.
Craft and apply the upgrade
Once you have the required materials, craft the stone using the arrangement shown by the recipe. The same historical thread says to right-click the crafted upgrade stone while your Griffin is active to apply it.
Why old recipe lists may not match
Recipe layouts can matter. In a September 10, 2020 hotfix, Hypixel staff member Minikloon reported: “Fixed the Legendary Griffin Upgrade Stone recipe yielding an epic one in the crafting grid (by changing the recipe layout )”. That patch confirms a layout bug was corrected at the time; it does not establish today’s full ingredient lists or layouts. Hypixel’s hotfix announcement.

An older search-indexed Hypixel SkyBlock Wiki excerpt lists the Base Griffin Upgrade Stone as 8 Griffin Feathers, 8 Enchanted Cobblestone, and 16 Enchanted Gold. This is an unverified legacy listing, not a confirmed current recipe; compare it with the in-game display before gathering materials. The official Hypixel SkyBlock Wiki closed in July 2026, as announced by Hypixel: wiki closure announcement.
Ingredient layouts for the Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary stones are not confirmed here. Use the current in-game recipe entries rather than relying on a copied layout or ingredient list.
