1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf a Minecraft raid is still active but you cannot see the final raider, first check which edition you’re playing. In Java Edition, ring the village bell and scan for the Glowing outline; in either edition, use raid-horn sounds to narrow your search, then check caves, pits, rooftops, and enclosed spaces around the village. The raid bar shows progress, not the raider’s direction.
1. Check your edition—and don’t treat the raid bar as a compass
The bell clue is edition-specific: the community-maintained raid mechanics reference describes ringing a village bell to give nearby raiders Glowing in Java Edition, but does not describe this as a Bedrock feature. Use the bell-search method only in Java.

The same reference describes the Java raid bar as showing remaining raid-mob health and the Bedrock bar as showing the remaining mob count. Neither tells you which direction to search. Exact labels and behavior can vary by version, so use the bar as a progress indicator rather than a locator.
2. In Java Edition, ring the village bell
- Go to a bell in the village while the raid is active.
- Ring it, then look around the nearby area for raiders outlined by the Glowing effect.
- Check beyond the main group: the remaining raider may be separated from the others or obscured by terrain.
This is the Java-specific clue described in the mechanics reference; don’t expect the bell to highlight a raider in Bedrock.

3. Use the raid horn to narrow the search
The raid horn can point you toward a likely area, but it is a clue, not a precise locator. The mechanics reference says the horn sounds from the direction of a wave spawn. In Bedrock, it describes the horn repeating at intervals until the wave ends or the player loses. These details do not establish a precise sound range or guarantee that every hidden raider will keep producing an audible cue.
- Make sure game audio is audible, then pause in a few different spots and listen for the direction of the horn.
- Move toward the likely approach or wave-spawn area and listen again to refine where you search.
- Don’t assume a sound—or a lack of one—proves the remaining raider is in a particular place.
4. Search terrain where a raider can be out of sight
Raid mobs spawn away from the raid center and move toward the village, so search likely approach routes as well as the village itself. A raider that has become separated from the wave can be easy to overlook. Check:

- Explore randomly-generated worlds and build amazing things from the simplest of homes to the grandest of castles

- Caves, ravines, and underground openings near the village.
- Holes, pits, and uneven ground where a mob could be below your line of sight.
- Roofs, enclosed buildings, and spaces around or behind structures.
- Nearby routes from which a raid wave could have approached.
Mojang’s historical Java snapshot notes describe raiders seeking villagers and moving door-to-door during raids. That older behavior note can help explain why nearby routes and structures are worth checking, but it is not a complete specification of pathfinding in current versions.
5. Don’t confuse a hidden raider with a version-specific raid issue
If you have searched nearby terrain without finding the mob, consider whether the raid state itself may be stuck—but don’t assume a bug just because one raider is hard to spot. Mojang’s historical Bedrock report MCPE-45532 describes a raid count remaining stuck after a raider went through a Nether portal; the report lists the issue as fixed in version 1.18.12. It is historical context, not evidence that this is a common cause in current versions.

What recent raid changes do—and don’t—tell you
Mojang’s Java and Bedrock 1.21 Java notes and 1.21 Bedrock notes describe Bad Omen being changed so it gives Raid Omen, which expires before a raid starts; both notes specify a 30-second duration and say milk can clear Raid Omen beforehand. These changes concern starting a raid, not locating a raider after one is underway.

This is a vertical limit on raid-start spawning, not a 96-block search radius or a guaranteed location for the final raider in an active raid.
