If your controller is not working in EA SPORTS FC 25 on PC, start by connecting it with USB and checking whether the game detects it and shows the right button prompts. The next step depends on the symptom: PlayStation controllers used through Steam have a specific Steam Input instruction from EA, while detection failures may call for a driver or firmware update.
First, identify what is failing
“Controller not working” can mean several different things. Note whether FC 25 does not detect the controller at all, shows incorrect button mappings, registers drift, or loses input only in a particular mode or situation. Also note the controller’s exact model and whether you launch the game through Steam or the EA app. These details determine which checks apply.

- No detection: the game does not respond to the controller.
- Incorrect mapping: inputs work, but buttons trigger the wrong actions or the prompts do not match the physical controller.
- Drift or intermittent input: the controller responds inconsistently or only fails in certain circumstances.
Try these checks in order

Connect by USB
Connect the controller to the PC with a USB cable and test it in FC 25. EA recommends USB as the initial connection method; Bluetooth may also be available depending on the device. A wired test can help separate a wireless pairing problem from a game or launcher setting, but it is not a guaranteed fix. If you need a cable, check that it fits your controller and supports data, not just charging.

Check the prompts and launch path
If the controller responds but the buttons seem wrong, compare the in-game button prompts with your physical controller. EA’s general instructions for the EA app are to sign in, open Library, and launch the game. A game purchased through Steam can be played through Steam and may still require the EA app to launch; a game purchased through the EA app cannot be transferred to Steam.

For a PlayStation controller launched through Steam, enable Steam Input
EA’s later update for the PlayStation-controller issue discussed in its FC 25 forum thread says Steam Input needs to be enabled before launching the game. Earlier in that thread, EA had suggested disabling Steam Input and the EA app overlay as an interim workaround while investigating. The later instruction supersedes that earlier workaround for the issue described in the thread. It is specific to that PlayStation-controller situation and does not establish one setting for every controller or launcher setup.

Update the controller if FC 25 does not detect it
EA says most modern Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported automatically, but a controller’s drivers or firmware may need updating if it is not detected. Compatibility for other controller models depends on the device; the reviewed guidance does not establish that every model is supported.

If it still does not work
When seeking help, report the launcher, exact controller model, connection method, and the specific failure. Say whether the issue is constant or situational, identify any affected mode or context, and distinguish no detection from drift or incorrect mapping. This gives support a clearer starting point than saying only that the controller does not work.
