Launch it from the rooftop banner, finish the mission, listen to the Tower radio transmission, and speak to Cayde-6 again to claim the rifle. The cited walkthrough identifies Queens, Part I as the Destined Heroes milestone to check if Wild Card is missing.
Before you start Wild Card
Wild Card is an Exotic mission associated with The Final Shape. Bungie’s current new-player progression guide lists Wild Card among the expansion’s Exotic quests, while Sam Chandler’s June 5, 2024 Shacknews walkthrough says to complete the campaign and make progress in Destined Heroes first. The Destiny 2 Wiki quest page names Queens, Part I as a prerequisite.
- Complete The Final Shape campaign.
- Progress through Destined Heroes and complete Queens, Part I.
- Visit Cayde-6 in the Lost City Tower and pick up Wild Card.
If Cayde-6 does not offer the quest, check the campaign and Destined Heroes milestones in your quest log, including Queens, Part I. Bungie’s guide does not specify an exact ownership requirement, so check the in-game quest screen for your account rather than assuming a purchase rule from the guide.

How to complete the Wild Card mission
The mission is waypoint-led. Its encounters alternate between clearing enemies, collecting Dark Ether, boss damage phases, and returning to Crow’s campsite. The sequence below summarizes the June 2024 Shacknews walkthrough; follow the current in-game markers if they differ.
- Launch the mission. In the Lost City Tower, jump down to the banner below Cayde-6 and start Wild Card. After Cayde and Crow’s opening conversation, follow the waypoint, investigate the area, and defeat the enemies.
- Set up Crow’s campsite. Continue investigating and clearing enemies. Once the campsite is established, collect Dark Ether dropped by enemies.
- Defeat the War Beast. Follow the marker to the cave and Rally Banner. Damage the large War Beast; when it shields itself, clear the enemies around it and resume attacking when its shield drops. Repeat until it is defeated.
- Return to camp and meditate. Hear Cayde and Crow’s conversation, then use the meditation prompt inside the tent.
- Destroy the Taken blights. Defeat nearby Taken to expose the blights. Clear the first four, then defeat the additional Taken and Subjugators that appear with two more blights. Return to the campsite and speak with Crow.
- Reach the cliffside stakeout. Meditate again and follow the waypoint to the cliffside cave. Use the shortcut to reach the stakeout.
- Destroy the Megashank. Defeat the Shanks to summon it. Damage the Megashank until it becomes immune, clear the next wave of Shanks, then attack again when its shield drops. Repeat as needed.
- Return to camp. Use the shortcut, listen to the conversation, and activate the waypoint behind you.
- Defeat the Scorn Abomination. Fight it while clearing lesser enemies. When it retreats, kill the Screebs and deposit their Dark Ether into the canister until 10 units have been deposited. Repeat the damage and deposit cycle until the boss is defeated.
- Claim Still Hunt. Listen to the campfire conversation, return to the Tower, and listen to the radio transmission. Then speak with Cayde-6 by the crates to unlock Still Hunt.
What Still Hunt does
Still Hunt is an Exotic Solar Sniper Rifle. The Shacknews walkthrough lists Golden Munitions, Sharpshooter, and Cayde’s Retribution, and describes charging its Golden Gun-style shots through Orbs of Power or precision hits before firing by holding reload. The Destiny 2 Wiki also describes its Golden Gun-like shot. Perk wording and weapon tuning can change, so use the current in-game weapon description for build decisions.

Current availability and changes
Bungie’s new-player guide currently includes Wild Card in The Final Shape story progression, but it does not spell out the quest’s exact prerequisite or purchase requirement. The detailed encounter walkthrough cited here was published June 5, 2024, so quest steps and weapon tuning may have changed since then. Bungie’s Known Issues and Vital Information page is a targeted issue list, not confirmation that Wild Card is free of bugs; the inspected page was last updated July 7, 2026.
