How do I check my Windows edition and build?
Microsoft’s activation workflow starts by confirming which Windows edition is installed. Press Windows key + R, enter winver, and press Enter. Record the edition and build shown in the About Windows window. Also note whether the device is personally owned or managed by an employer or school, because volume activation follows a different route.
