Use the offered verification method
- Text message or phone call: Keep the phone associated with the account available and enter the current code only on the PayPal page you opened directly.
- Email: Check the account email inbox, including its junk folder, and use the newest message. Do not follow a message link if you did not initiate the sign-in; instead, return to the page you opened by typing the address.

Check the funding source
- The card issuer may have refused the transaction. Contact the issuer through the number on the card if PayPal identifies an issuer decline.
- The card may be expired, replaced, or have an outdated billing address or security detail in PayPal. Update the information in the wallet and retry only after it matches the issuer’s records.
