If your Roblox character won’t move, first check whether the control method you expect—keyboard, touch controls, or a gamepad—is being recognized. Then see whether the problem happens in one experience or across several. Those checks help narrow down what to report, but they do not identify a single cause by themselves.
Check your controls and where the problem happens
- Confirm the input method. Use the controls intended for your device: keyboard, on-screen touch controls, or a gamepad. Roblox documents these as different input methods, and device or connected hardware can affect which input is preferred (Roblox input documentation; UserInputService reference; ContextActionService reference).
- Check whether controls are responding. If another input method is already available, try it and note whether it works. A different result is useful when describing the issue, but it does not prove what caused it.
- Compare experiences. Try another Roblox experience. If movement fails only in one, record its name; if it fails in several, record that too. This comparison is a troubleshooting clue, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Check Roblox Status if the issue is widespread or sudden
If movement stopped working across multiple experiences or the problem began suddenly, check the Roblox Status page for current service incidents. Status can change: when checked for this article, it reported all systems operational and listed a resolved multi-component incident dated October 5, 2026. That snapshot does not rule out a later service issue or establish the cause of an individual player’s problem.
If you play on iOS, follow Roblox’s app troubleshooting steps
Roblox’s published general troubleshooting guidance for iOS recommends this sequence. Follow the support page’s current instructions for your device and iOS version (Roblox iOS App Troubleshooting).
- Force-close Roblox, then reopen it.
- Restart your device.
- Reinstall Roblox.
- Clear Roblox cookies.
- Check that your device’s date and time are accurate.
These are general iOS app troubleshooting steps, not a guaranteed fix for every reason a character may not move. The cited procedure is specifically for iOS, so don’t treat it as a universal set of steps for other platforms.

Contact Roblox Support with details that help reproduce the problem
If the issue continues, give Roblox Support enough information to understand where and how it occurs. For iOS issues, Roblox specifically asks for your username, any error message, device model, iOS version, reproduction steps, and relevant recent device or network changes (Roblox iOS App Troubleshooting).
- The affected experience’s name.
- Your device and operating system.
- Whether you use keyboard, touch controls, or a gamepad.
- Whether the issue affects one experience or several, and whether another available input method works.
- Any error message and the steps that lead to the problem.
- Recent device or network changes, if relevant.
