- Note whether the computer has both integrated and discrete graphics. Laptops and some desktop configurations can launch the game on the lower-memory adapter.

These numbers are time-sensitive. Use the current Activision requirements and driver guidance, then the appropriate AMD, NVIDIA or Intel release page, rather than assuming the March 2026 versions remain current. Reboot after updating Windows or the driver so the new graphics stack is actually loaded.
Why must shader preloading finish before I play?
Shader compilation prepares effects for the first launch. Activision says, “Shader Preloading is an important part of the first boot process. Allow this process to complete before attempting to play the game.” Leaving the main menu, launching a match or terminating the process during that operation can leave the first run incomplete and make troubleshooting misleading.
- Start the game and remain at the main menu while the shader-preloading indicator is active.
- Do not queue for a match, switch demanding applications or close the game during the process.
- When it completes, restart the game once and test the same action that previously produced 6066.
If the preload repeatedly resets or never completes, continue with file repair and conflict isolation instead of repeatedly interrupting it.
How do I repair corrupted game files?
Use the repair command belonging to your storefront. Both procedures check the installation, but the buttons and resulting downloads differ.

Which background programs can trigger 6066?
Activision recommends removing software conflicts with a clean boot, temporarily closing overlays and monitoring tools, and adding the entire Warzone folder to your antivirus exception list. - Press Win+R, enter
msconfig, and open System Configuration. - On Services, select Hide all Microsoft services, disable the remaining third-party services, and apply the change.
- Open Task Manager from the Startup tab and disable nonessential startup items.
- Restart Windows, launch the game, complete shader preloading and test the failure point.
If the crash stops, restore services and startup items in small groups, restarting between groups, until the conflicting program is identified. Return to normal startup after the test; a permanent clean boot disables useful software and is not a fix by itself.
Check security and exploit-protection settings
Activision recommends adding the full game folder to your antivirus exception list when security software interferes. Apply the exception only to the genuine installation directory and keep protection enabled elsewhere. Should I lower resolution, textures or frame rate?
Yes, as a reversible diagnostic if driver, file and software checks do not identify the cause.
