- Check graphics support and drivers. If the crash looks like a graphics problem, consult the support resources for your GPU maker and check for driver updates using its recommended process.
- Collect DxDiag if the crash persists. The report records hardware and diagnostic details that can help support staff investigate. Include it when contacting EA or the relevant storefront’s technical support channel.
Adjust display settings for freezes or poor performance
For display-related symptoms, check that Windows and your graphics drivers are up to date, then test whether refresh-rate or V-sync behavior is involved. EA’s current graphics guide discusses these as possible PC graphics factors; the cited material does not identify one setting as a universal Dragon Age: Origins fix.

Check whether a 4GB/LAA patch applies to your copy
Community guides often recommend a 4GB/LAA patch, but player reports describe mixed results, including crashes that remain. A video guide published on September 12, 2024, recommends the workaround while acknowledging that it may not eliminate crashes. It should be treated as an unofficial troubleshooting option, not an EA repair or a universal requirement.
Before considering any executable patch, verify the exact installed build and whether its executable already has LAA support. Some GOG users report that their builds include it, citing a GOG patch note, while Steam users have sought separate instructions. Those reports do not independently confirm the current patch state of every GOG release or establish that all storefront builds need the same change. Do not apply an unofficial executable download without first confirming that it is intended for your specific copy.

Escalate with useful diagnostic details
If the crash continues, contact the technical support channel for the storefront you use and provide your DxDiag details. Include the storefront, whether the installation is modded, the exact failure pattern, and any display or background-task checks you tried.
