Error 0x00037518 is not a documented standard Windows 10 or Windows 11 message. Exact-match reports instead associate the number with a PE entry point in LDCdBldr64.dll, including samples labeled Trojan.Packed. That does not prove that every occurrence is malware: the correct fix depends on where the code appeared, which application or file was named, whether that file is expected and signed, and whether Windows reports component corruption. Capture that context first. Then verify any named DLL, scan unexpected files, and use Microsoft’s supported DISM-then-SFC sequence when the symptoms point to damaged Windows components.
What does error 0x00037518 mean on Windows?
Windows does not publish 0x00037518 as a defined, general-purpose error code for Windows 10 or Windows 11. A number in a dialog, crash record or security report is meaningful only alongside the program, module and message that produced it. Treating the number by itself as proof of a broken operating system, a missing DLL or an infection can lead to the wrong repair.

The strongest exact matches identify 0x00037518 as the PE entry point associated with LDCdBldr64.dll. ThreatInfo reports examined files associated with Corel Inc. metadata and labeled the samples Trojan.Packed. Those are attributes of the files in those reports, not a diagnosis of every computer displaying the number. One 2025 report recorded Windows 10 as the observed operating system; that is a sample-report detail, not a statistic about Windows users or the prevalence of this error.

Where did 0x00037518 appear?
The originating surface determines which branch is safe. Write down the complete text before closing the message or changing files.
Application crash dialog
Record the application’s name, version if shown, the executable and DLL named in the dialog, and what action triggered the crash. A crash in one game, editor or utility with otherwise normal Windows behavior usually points to that application’s files, plug-ins or dependencies rather than to a system-wide Windows failure.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Installer or update failure
Note whether the installer identifies a package, publisher or target path. Keep the installer source and its digital-signature information. Do not replace a file in the installation directory with a copy downloaded from a DLL archive; a mismatched version can create new crashes and can conceal a security problem.
Event Viewer or an application log
Open Event Viewer and check Windows Logs > Application around the failure time. Look for the faulting application, faulting module and exception details. If the application has its own log folder or crash reporter, preserve that entry as well. The module name is often more useful than the numeric code.
Security software alert
A security product may display a detection name, file path and action taken. Preserve those details and follow the product’s quarantine or remediation workflow. Do not infer that a Windows repair command will remove a detected file; DISM and SFC repair Windows components, not every third-party program.
What should I do before changing or deleting a file?
Capture evidence first. A short record prevents you from losing the path, publisher or timestamp needed to distinguish a damaged application from an unexpected file.
- Copy the full dialog text, including punctuation and the named executable or DLL.
- Write down the date and time, the application you were using, and the action that preceded the error.
- In Event Viewer or the application’s log, record the faulting module and any exception code.
- For a named file, record its complete path, file size, creation or modification time and the installer or update that placed it there.
- Do not download a replacement DLL from an unofficial site, run an unknown “DLL fixer,” or rename a system file as an experiment.
- Create a restore point or a backup of important personal data before making broader repairs.
This information also helps support staff reproduce the failure. If the message disappears after a restart, keep the notes anyway; transient failures can return when the same application or service starts again.
Is 0x00037518 a virus?
The number alone cannot answer that question. Exact-match ThreatInfo reports connect the code with LDCdBldr64.dll entry-point data in samples labeled Trojan.Packed, so an unexpected copy of that DLL deserves a security investigation. However, those reports do not establish that every file with that name, every Corel-related installation or every occurrence of 0x00037518 is malicious.
Use conditional checks rather than a blanket conclusion:
- Expected location: compare the path with the application’s documented installation folder. A DLL appearing in a temporary, downloads or randomly named directory is more suspicious than one installed with a program you recognize.
- Publisher and signature: in File Explorer, open the file’s Properties, inspect the Digital Signatures tab when present, and view the signer details. An absent or invalid signature is a warning, not conclusive proof by itself.
- Installation history: identify which installer, update or bundled component created the file. If nobody on the PC installed the associated software, treat the file as unexpected.
- Security scan: scan the individual file and perform a broader scan with your installed security software. Let the scanner quarantine or remove confirmed detections according to its instructions.
Do not disable security protection to launch the program again, and do not restore a quarantined file merely because doing so makes the dialog disappear. If a scan finds a detection, finish the security product’s cleanup and reboot before testing application repairs.

How do I check LDCdBldr64.dll safely?
If the dialog names LDCdBldr64.dll, verify the file in place instead of searching the web for a replacement.
1. Locate the exact copy
Use the path shown in the dialog or log. If no path is provided, use File Explorer’s search within the affected application’s folder and note every matching copy. Multiple copies can belong to separate programs; deleting one without identifying its owner can break an otherwise unrelated installation.
2. Check metadata and signature
Right-click the file, choose Properties, and review General, Details and Digital Signatures. Record the product name, publisher, version, timestamps and signature status. ThreatInfo’s exact-match reports include Corel Inc.-associated metadata and Trojan.Packed labels for examined samples, but that evidence must be compared with your file’s actual path and signature.
3. Scan before taking action
Scan the file with your installed antivirus or endpoint-security software, then scan the containing folder or the whole system if the file is unexpected. If the scanner reports a threat, quarantine or remove it through the scanner. If no threat is found but the file is still unexpected, do not execute it while investigating its origin.
4. Repair the owning application
For a legitimate, signed file in an expected installation, use that application’s built-in Repair option, installer repair mode or a clean reinstall from the publisher’s official distribution. Back up settings and saved data first. A replacement copied from another computer may have a different build, architecture or dependency set and is not a reliable repair.
How do I run DISM and SFC for 0x00037518?
Use Microsoft’s supported sequence when Windows itself shows damaged-system-file symptoms, several built-in components fail, or the error appears across unrelated applications. Microsoft explicitly says, “You should run DISM prior to running the System File Checker.” DISM repairs the Windows component store or obtains files needed by SFC; SFC then checks protected system files and replaces corrupted copies from its cache.
1. Open an elevated Command Prompt
- Open the Start menu and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt. The window title should indicate administrator privileges.
2. Run DISM first
At the elevated prompt, enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Press Enter and let the operation finish. It can pause at a percentage for an extended time; closing the window or rebooting during the operation can leave the repair incomplete. Record the final message and any error code.

3. Run System File Checker second
After DISM completes, run:
sfc /scannow
Microsoft describes this command as scanning all protected system files and replacing corrupted files with a cached copy. Wait for verification to reach 100 percent, then copy the final result before closing the window.
4. Restart and retest
Restart Windows even when the commands report that repairs were made. Reproduce the original action in the same application and note whether the same module and code return. If only one program still fails while Windows components work normally, continue with that program’s repair rather than repeatedly running system commands.
How should I interpret the SFC result?
| SFC result | What it indicates | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations | SFC found no corruption in protected Windows files. | Investigate the named application, DLL path, signature and security-scan results. The failure may be application-specific. |
| Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them | Protected files were repaired from the local component cache. | Restart, retry the original operation and keep the command result with your notes. |
| Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them | Some protected files remain unresolved. | Preserve the CBS log and follow Microsoft’s documented recovery options. Do not copy random DLLs into system folders. |
| SFC could not perform the requested operation | The scan did not complete, so it cannot establish system integrity. | Record the exact message, restart if appropriate, and use Microsoft’s recovery guidance rather than treating the scan as a clean bill of health. |
A clean SFC result does not validate an unfamiliar DLL. It only means that the protected Windows files checked by SFC did not show the reported integrity violation.
When do I need Windows installation media for DISM?
Installation media is conditional, not a prerequisite for every 0x00037518 case. DISM normally obtains repair files through Windows servicing sources. If Windows Update cannot supply the required files, Microsoft documents using a running Windows installation or a Windows side-by-side folder on removable media, such as a matching Windows DVD, as a /Source.
Use media that matches the installed Windows release, edition and architecture as closely as possible. An unrelated build can leave DISM unable to find a suitable component. Confirm that the media is genuine and unmodified, connect it before starting the repair, and follow Microsoft’s documented DISM source syntax for its drive letter and image path. If you do not have matching media, do not guess at a source path; first resolve Windows Update or obtain the correct installation media.
Because the code may originate in a third-party DLL, installation media will not automatically repair that application’s files. Use it only when DISM reports that source files are unavailable or when Microsoft’s recovery instructions call for it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What if DISM and SFC do not fix the error?
Only one application fails
Check the application’s official repair or reinstall option, remove recently added plug-ins, and install updates from the publisher. If the failure began immediately after an update, use the application’s supported rollback or prior-version option rather than replacing individual DLLs.
Several applications fail after a system change
Review recently installed drivers, updates and security software changes. Use Windows System Restore only if a suitable restore point exists and you understand which applications and updates it will affect. Keep personal backups before reverting system state.
The file is unsigned, unexpected or repeatedly recreated
Prioritize security investigation. Record the file path and detection details, run a complete scan, and examine startup entries or scheduled tasks only with tools you understand. If the file returns after quarantine, disconnect the affected PC from sensitive networks and seek professional incident-response help rather than continuing to delete copies manually.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe error appears during startup
Note whether Windows reaches the desktop and whether the message names a service or executable. If Windows remains usable, collect logs before changing startup entries. If it cannot start normally, use Windows Recovery options and Microsoft’s recovery documentation; do not use a downloaded DLL as a boot repair.
Which fix should I choose?
| Observed evidence | Best first path | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Code appears in a single third-party application’s crash dialog | Verify the module, then repair or reinstall that application. | The failure is localized and may not involve Windows protected files. |
LDCdBldr64.dll is unexpected, unsigned or in a temporary/random folder |
Preserve the path, scan it and follow the security product’s remediation. | Exact-match reports associate examined samples with Trojan.Packed; the code alone still is not proof. |
| Multiple Windows components fail and DISM/SFC reports corruption | Run elevated DISM, then SFC, restart and retest. | This follows Microsoft’s supported order for component and protected-file repair. |
| DISM cannot obtain repair files from Windows Update | Use matching Windows installation media as a documented /Source. |
Media supplies a conditional servicing source when the normal source is unavailable. |
| SFC reports no integrity violations and only one program remains broken | Stop repeating system scans; troubleshoot the program and its dependencies. | A clean SFC result shifts the probability toward an application-specific cause. |
What mistakes make 0x00037518 harder to fix?
- Assuming the number is a Microsoft definition: no standard Windows 10/11 error entry establishes that meaning.
- Declaring malware from the number alone: security conclusions require the actual file, path and scan result.
- Downloading a replacement DLL: unofficial copies can be incompatible or malicious and can destroy useful evidence.
- Running SFC before DISM: Microsoft’s order places DISM first so the component store can supply valid repair files.
- Stopping a command mid-run: an interrupted repair leaves you without a trustworthy final status.
- Using mismatched installation media: a different release, edition or architecture may not contain the required component.
- Repeating repairs without recording results: preserve command output, logs, paths and timestamps so the next decision is evidence-based.
Is there an optional shortcut after the manual checks?
Outbyte PC Repair is an optional shortcut for common Windows issues after you have completed the manual checks. It can address more than 100 common Windows issues where possible, tune settings, clear temporary and cache files, provide privacy and vulnerability checks, and offer a real-time boost, file shredder and app-crash log; it complements antivirus rather than replacing it, and no tool repairs every crash. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7 with a free trial by category of at least two days before a paid subscription.
When should I get additional help?
Escalate when a file is repeatedly recreated after quarantine, several accounts or machines show the same unexpected executable, or the PC handles sensitive information and a security alert remains unresolved. Provide the helper with the original dialog, application and module names, complete paths, signature status, scan results, DISM output and SFC result. Avoid sending unknown binaries through ordinary email or uploading confidential files without confirming the recipient’s handling policy.
For a legitimate application that still crashes after repair or reinstall, contact that application’s publisher with its crash log and exact build. For unresolved Windows component corruption, use Microsoft’s recovery documentation and preserve the CBS log rather than substituting files from another computer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fix 0x00037518 by replacing LDCdBldr64.dll?
Replacing a DLL from a download site is not a safe general fix. The file may be version-mismatched or unsafe, and deleting it can remove evidence needed for a security investigation; repair the owning application or follow your security software’s quarantine process instead.
Will reinstalling Windows remove error 0x00037518?
A reinstall can change system and application files, but it is disproportionate until you establish whether the error comes from one third-party program or an unexpected file. Preserve logs and scan results first, then consider Windows recovery options only when supported repairs and application repair have failed.
Where can I find the SFC log after this error?
SFC records details in the Component Based Servicing log, commonly called the CBS log. If SFC cannot repair files, keep that log intact and provide it to support rather than editing or deleting entries.
Does Safe Mode prove that 0x00037518 is caused by a driver?
No. Safe Mode loads a reduced set of services and drivers, so a different result can narrow the cause but does not identify it by itself. Compare the named module and event details between normal and Safe Mode before changing drivers or applications.
