- Cancel every pending job. In Windows 11, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select the affected printer, choose Open print queue, open the queue menu, and cancel each document. Windows 10 uses the corresponding printer page in Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners. Leave the queue empty before submitting a new test.

Do not repeatedly resend the same document while the queue is stalled. Multiple copies can remain queued and make it harder to tell whether the service recovered.
How do I clear a stuck Windows print queue safely?
If jobs remain after a normal cancellation, clear the spool folder while Print Spooler is stopped. How do I check the printer, USB cable, or Wi-Fi connection?
A printer that is offline or attached to a different network can produce recognition and submission failures that look like software errors. Power-cycle the equipment and verify the path between the PC and printer before reinstalling anything.
USB printers
- Turn the printer off, wait for it to finish shutting down, and turn it on again.
- Reconnect the USB cable firmly at both ends. If the PC has another known-good USB port, test it there.
- Watch Windows for a device-recognition sound or notification. If nothing changes, test the cable or port with another device where practical.
Wi-Fi or network printers

How do I remove and reinstall the printer in Windows?
Reinstalling is the next step when the queue and connection are healthy but Windows still cannot recognize or use the device. It removes the current Windows device registration, so make sure you know the printer’s exact make and model before beginning.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners in Windows 11, or Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners in Windows 10.
- Select the affected printer and choose Remove. Confirm the removal.
- Restart the PC and power-cycle the printer.
- Return to the same settings page, choose Add device or Add a printer or scanner, and wait for Windows to discover it.

What should I check if Print Spooler keeps stopping?
Persistent spooler failures need a narrower diagnosis. Microsoft documents old or corrupted spool files, outdated drivers and print components, dependent services, Group Policy settings, resource problems, and antivirus interference as areas to inspect. When should I contact the printer manufacturer or an administrator?
