Update Resident Evil 4 on PS5 first. Capcom’s April 7, 2023 update 1.04 notes say it fixed the specific issue of “flickering lights at the bottom of the screen” that could occur with certain settings. If that precise symptom continues on an updated game, record when it happens and contact Capcom rather than relying on an unverified settings workaround.
Install the latest game update first
Capcom documented the fix in the update 1.04 patch notes, released April 7, 2023. The note states: “An issue causing flickering lights at the bottom of the screen when certain settings are applied has been fixed.” The triggering settings are not identified.

- Press the Options button on the controller and choose Check for Update.

The same patch note mentions a separate rendering issue that could make some environmental details look blurry. That is distinct from the flickering-lights issue.

The documented issue is limited in its description: flickering lights near the bottom edge of the game image under certain settings. A black screen, a television reporting loss of signal, or flicker that also appears in other games is not established by this patch note as the same bug.

If the flicker continues after updating
Capcom’s patch note does not name a setting that triggers the issue or provide a setting-level workaround. Avoid treating a particular toggle as a confirmed fix. Before contacting Capcom Support, collect details that can help with technical diagnosis:
- Your PS5 model and the game version shown by the console.
- The in-game settings you use and where the flicker appears.
- Whether it happens consistently or only in a particular area or situation.
- Whether other games show a similar problem, plus any error codes.
Capcom advises that the play environment, console model or specifications, error codes, and details about what caused the problem can be useful when submitting a technical request. A contemporary report by Push Square quoted Capcom acknowledging the bottom-of-screen flicker on PS5 before the later patch note recorded the fix.

Do not use PC-specific fixes on PS5
Capcom’s guidance about V-Sync and refresh-rate settings applies to the Steam version, not the PS5 game. It is not a verified console remedy. Likewise, the available sources do not establish that changing an accessibility option or buying a cable or other hardware fixes this particular software issue.
