If Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii keeps crashing, first try the game’s documented workaround: set the frame rate to 60 FPS under Settings > Graphic Settings > Set FPS to 60. RGG Studio says this reduces the likelihood of certain random NVIDIA driver crashes; it is not a guaranteed fix for every crash. Then check whether your PC resembles the specific configuration RGG investigated in 2025, and use SEGA’s general troubleshooting steps if it does not.
Start with the 60 FPS setting
- Launch the game and open Settings > Graphic Settings.
- Set Set FPS to 60.
- Play again and note whether the crash still occurs, including when it happens and any error message.
In its March 6, 2025 Patch 1.12 announcement, RGG Studio recommended this cap to reduce the likelihood of random driver crashes on certain NVIDIA GPUs. Patch 1.12 also fixed a rare crash during resource loading. The frame cap is a targeted workaround, not a promise that all startup, loading, or in-game crashes will stop. Does your PC match RGG’s reported NVIDIA crash case?
RGG’s February 27, 2025 Patch 1.11 announcement described random crashes in a narrowly specified setup. Compare your system with the reported details:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Windows 11 24H2
- Intel Core i9-14900 processor
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
- GeForce Game Ready driver 572.47, 572.16, or 566.36
- 3840×2160 resolution at 120 Hz, with VSync disabled and FPS unlimited
These are the conditions RGG associated with its reported issue—not a universal list of causes or a claim that every PC with one of these parts will crash. The studio’s February 28, 2025 update said it had also observed no crashes with drivers 555.85 and 561.09, and confirmed crashes with 556.90 and 572.60. At that time, it described 561.09 as the latest WHQL version it had verified without the issue. RGG wrote: “Since the crashes are occurring at the driver level, we are continuing to verify details with the GPU vendor.” These are historical findings from its 2025 investigation, not current driver recommendations for 2026. - PIRATE YAKUZA ADVENTURE AHOY - Goro Majima, a notorious ex-yakuza suddenly finds himself shipwrecked on a remote island in the Pacific. Unable to remember even his own name, he sets sail in search of clues to his lost memories, accompanied by a boy named Noah who saved his life.
- GET YOUR SHIP TOGETHER - Assemble a one-of-a-kind crew while upgrading your ship as you explore the open sea and forge your legend in the cannon fire of foes, unexpected friendships, and immense riches made along the way.
- KICK ARRSS WITH CREATIVE COMBAT - Dynamically switch between the “Mad Dog” and “Sea Dog” fighting styles to mix-up attacks and deliver explosive combos, juggles, and aerial takedowns that reward your creativity with over-the-top action.
Do not downgrade your driver solely because an old version appears in that announcement. Driver compatibility depends on your current GPU, Windows version, and software. Check current NVIDIA support information and the game’s latest announcements before changing drivers.
Record the crash pattern and configuration
Before trying several fixes at once, note what is happening. This makes it easier to tell whether your symptoms resemble RGG’s specific report or point toward a different issue.

Check the game update and PC requirements
Install available game updates before troubleshooting further. The official announcement history records Patch 1.13 (March 13, 2025), which addressed a frame-rate drop and increased loading times introduced in 1.12, and Patch 1.14 (April 14, 2025), which fixed a PC issue that prevented Intel XeSS Frame Generation and Intel Xe Low Latency from being selected after 1.12. Try SEGA’s general PC troubleshooting steps
If your crash does not closely fit the NVIDIA configuration above—or the 60 FPS cap did not help—SEGA recommends a broader set of checks. Change one thing at a time where practical so you can tell what affects the crash. Menu names can vary by game client and Windows version.
Recommended Free Tools
- Verify the game files in the client where you installed the game, then retry.
- Check for Windows updates and current GPU driver availability. Use the relevant official update tools for your Windows installation and graphics hardware.
- Check GPU power settings. Review the settings that control how the graphics card is powered or selected for the game.
- Check antivirus and firewall settings. SEGA suggests adding the game and client to exclusions if security software is interfering. Only add exclusions you understand and trust.
- Remove mods and related files temporarily, then test an unmodified game installation.
- Try running the game as administrator and see whether the behavior changes.
- Consider removing the game’s AppData folder if other checks fail. SEGA says potentially corrupted files there can cause conflicts. This may reset local game data or settings, so back up relevant files first and follow SEGA’s support guidance for the correct folder.
See SEGA’s General Troubleshooting guidance for its full instructions.
When to contact support
If the game still crashes, send official support a concise record of your crash pattern, exact error, Windows version, CPU and GPU models, GPU driver version, display settings, game build, and the troubleshooting steps you tried. Use the support options linked from the game’s Steam page.
