If aiming in Gears of War: E-Day feels too slow, too fast, or inconsistent, first identify when it happens: while looking around, aiming at a target, or using a scope. The game has separate horizontal and vertical sensitivity controls for each state. Adjust the matching control in small steps, then test again before changing anything else. Controller players can separately test Aim Acceleration and stick dead zones; mouse players should check the corresponding Look, Target, and Scope controls.

Find the aiming state that feels wrong
Before moving sliders, compare the movement that feels wrong with the movement that feels normal. Look sensitivity controls ordinary camera movement; Target sensitivity applies while aiming at a target; Scope sensitivity applies when using a scope. The official E-Day accessibility guide lists separate horizontal and vertical controls for all three.
- If turning or scanning the environment feels wrong, adjust Horizontal Look Sensitivity or Vertical Look Sensitivity.
- If movement changes when you aim down sights, adjust the matching Horizontal or Vertical Target Sensitivity.
- If the problem occurs only through a scope, adjust Horizontal or Vertical Scope Sensitivity.
Change one axis or setting at a time, then repeat the same aiming movement. This makes it easier to tell what helped. The official guide defines the controls but does not recommend universal numerical values, so there is no evidence-based “best sensitivity” preset to copy.

Adjust controller acceleration and dead zones separately
If you use a controller and the sensitivity sliders do not explain the feel, test Aim Acceleration and the stick dead-zone controls as separate variables. The E-Day guide lists Aim Acceleration along with inner and outer dead zones for the sticks.
- Note the current value before changing it.
- Change only Aim Acceleration or one relevant dead-zone value.
- Repeat the same aiming movement under the same conditions and compare.
- Keep the change only if it improves control; otherwise restore the previous value before testing another setting.
The guide does not endorse a particular acceleration or dead-zone number. Changing several controls together can make it difficult to identify the cause of a better or worse result.

Check mouse controls without assuming a confirmed bug
For mouse aiming, inspect the separate Look, Target, and Scope sensitivity controls and test the horizontal and vertical axes independently. Some individual players reported during beta feedback that mouse aim felt inconsistent between slow and fast movement, or that camera movement seemed to retain aiming-down-sights sensitivity briefly after leaving ADS. Those posts are reports, not an official diagnosis; they do not establish a cause or show whether the behavior remains in the current build.

Consider projectile travel when shots miss at range
Not every apparent aiming problem is a sensitivity problem. The Coalition says, “All projectiles now have simulated ballistics and travel time.” At distance, a moving target may require leading it rather than aiming directly at its current position. A miss in that situation can be consistent with the described weapon behavior, not evidence that a sensitivity setting is wrong. Review Campaign consequences before changing gameplay options
Some Campaign gameplay-option changes affect the current difficulty tier. When customizing options, read the consequence shown in-game before confirming, particularly if you want to preserve your current difficulty. The Coalition describes this behavior in its gameplay update.

What a controller can and cannot fix
The Xbox Wireless Controller – Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition is an announced hardware option, but neither the announcement nor the settings documentation says it improves aim or corrects sensitivity behavior. Treat it as an optional controller, not a troubleshooting fix. No specific mouse recommendation is established as a remedy either.
