Their appeal is easier to explain than their popularity: Civic fans have several distinct cars to choose from, including a tunable older model, while F355 interest in the material available is expressed by fans drawn to its sound and racing-game history. The F355’s status also needs a date-sensitive caveat: the official Spec IV announcement scheduled an October 2026 update with six cars but did not name them in its article text.
What does “popular” mean here?
Popularity can mean frequent use, a high selection rate, or simply strong fan interest. No named statistic in the sources reviewed measures GT7 players’ use or ownership of either car, or compares the two. So it would be misleading to call either one a proven player favorite. What can be described is the cars’ representation in GT7 and the specific qualities cited in official descriptions and fan comments.

Why the Honda Civic has several points of appeal
GT7’s Civic presence is not a single car. Official update notices list the Garage RCR Civic and 2022 Honda Civic Type R (FL5), and the January 2025 Update 1.55 added the Honda Civic Si Extra (EF) ’87. That range lets players approach the nameplate through different eras and projects, rather than one universal Civic experience. Gran Turismo’s September 2023 Update 1.38 notice and its January 2025 Update 1.55 notice document those additions.
The EF Si Extra: a compact car with tuning hooks
The EF is the clearest basis for a handling-and-tuning explanation. PlayStation’s official feature describes the fourth-generation Civic as having the ZC engine and four-wheel double-wishbone suspension, and notes its sporting Si lineage. Update 1.55 also made an engine swap available for this car at Collector Level 50; the update notice says it is sold at the Used Cars dealership. Those details give players interested in compact cars concrete mechanical and tuning features to explore, but they do not show how many players choose it. PlayStation’s Update 1.55 feature quotes Sr Product Manager Ken Chan describing it as “A dominating force on the touring car circuit,” and noting its famous ZC engine.

Why GT7 fans talk about the Ferrari F355
The F355’s appeal in the player comments reviewed is more emotional than specification-led: commenters praise its distinctive sound and describe it as iconic, with some recalling enjoyable appearances in other racing games. That points to sound and nostalgia as reasons some fans want the car, not evidence of broad demand or a representative player poll. The discussion asking for the F355 records those individual reactions.
Its in-game status is time-sensitive. In a September 3, 2026 announcement, Gran Turismo scheduled Spec IV Part 1 for October 15 and said it would add six cars, but the announcement’s article text did not identify those cars by name. The linked trailer prompted players to interpret the reveal as including the F355; that is player interpretation, not confirmation in the announcement text. Check the official roster or post-release notice before treating the F355 as playable. Gran Turismo’s Spec IV announcement is the official source for the schedule and six-car count.

How their appeal differs
| Comparison | Honda Civic | Ferrari F355 |
|---|---|---|
| GT7 representation and timing | Multiple variants are documented in official update notices, including the Garage RCR, FL5 Type R and EF Si Extra. | The September 2026 official announcement described six cars planned for October but did not name them in its article text; F355 identification in the linked reveal was player interpretation. |
| Appeal described in the available material | Different Civic generations and projects; the EF has cited suspension, engine and engine-swap details. | Fan comments cite sound, iconic status and memories of other racing games. |
| Evidence strength | Official notices and an official car feature establish the cars and the EF’s described traits, not player usage. | Individual player comments establish that some fans express enthusiasm, not how common that view is. |
