If ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN runs slowly, stutters, or flickers on PC, start by updating the game and your graphics driver, then try the publisher’s reversible display and graphics changes one at a time. Bandai Namco has acknowledged frame-rate drops on some PC configurations, but has not identified a universal cause or guaranteed a fix. Flickering is a separate issue: the official guidance cited here does not give it a specific diagnosis or remedy.
Start with the game update and graphics driver
Check that the PC build is current
Bandai Namco’s latest PC-specific update notice in the official source trail is dated July 2, 2026. It lists App Ver. 1.03.3 and Regulation Ver. 1.03.5, and says the update is required for online play. Check the title screen’s version and Steam’s update status; do not assume that notice is still the newest build. A later notice dated September 18, 2026 applies to PS4 and PS5, not PC. Install the current GPU driver
Bandai Namco recommends installing the latest driver for your graphics card when significant frame-rate drops occur. The notice does not specify a driver version or promise that updating will solve the problem. Get the driver from your GPU manufacturer, then restart the PC and check whether the symptom changes.
In its May 29, 2025 PC troubleshooting notice, Bandai Namco wrote: “We have confirmed that some PC configurations using the latest graphics cards may experience frame rate drops. We are currently investigating the cause.” That is an acknowledgement of a configuration-specific issue, not a confirmed explanation for every low-FPS or stuttering report. Try the publisher’s graphics and display suggestions
Change one setting at a time and replay the same kind of scene. This makes it easier to tell whether a change helped; restore the original setting if it does not.
Switch to borderless windowed mode for stutter or low frame rate
Open the system menu’s graphics settings and change the screen mode to Borderless Window. The official Japanese troubleshooting notice says this may resolve slow operation, stuttering, or a dropping frame rate. It is a possible workaround, not a guaranteed fix. Lower graphics quality and resolution for major FPS drops
If frame rate drops significantly, lower the default High graphics preset to Medium or Low, then reduce screen resolution if needed. Bandai Namco describes these as steps that may help, not as a confirmed cure. Lowering resolution or quality can make the image less detailed, so try the smallest change that improves playability.
These are low-cost, reversible software changes. They target performance symptoms; the publisher does not present them as fixes for display flicker.

Verify files only when the game has startup problems
For problems such as the game failing to launch, Bandai Namco recommends checking the installed files in Steam: Library > right-click ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. The cited notice does not identify file verification as a remedy for stuttering, low FPS, or flickering.
Compare your PC with the official requirements before considering hardware
Check the processor, memory, graphics card, operating system, DirectX support, and available storage against the official PC requirements. Meeting the minimum is not a guarantee of smooth performance; it is the game’s published baseline. Official ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN PC requirements

If you use Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, Intel says it does not meet the developer’s minimum requirements and the game may close to desktop; Intel advises contacting the developer about possible workarounds. Intel support: ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN and Iris Xe Graphics
Consider a graphics card upgrade only if your current hardware falls below the published minimum or your system is otherwise under-spec. A new GPU is not an evidence-based general remedy for game-specific frame pacing problems or flickering, and it may not resolve every stutter.

What to do if the screen flickers
The official sources cited here do not identify a particular cause of flickering in NIGHTREIGN or prescribe a flicker-specific fix. Do not assume that lowering FPS or changing a stutter setting will address a display problem.
To help distinguish an in-game issue from a display or connection issue, record your GPU and driver version, how the display is connected, and whether flicker also occurs outside NIGHTREIGN. If it happens in other applications or on the desktop, contact the relevant display or hardware support channel. If it is confined to the game, provide those details to the game’s support channel.
