If a Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse mod has disappeared, check the BepInEx 6 IL2CPP x64 loader before reinstalling individual mods. Initialize BepInEx once in the game’s root folder, then verify each plugin’s exact directory. Belmont Minimap 1.1.4 and Experience Bar HUD are DLL plugins; music changes are separate file replacements in StreamingAssets unless you use the playlist-based BelmontJukebox. Why did my Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse mods vanish?
Most missing-mod problems come from one of four conditions: BepInEx was never initialized, a DLL was extracted one folder too deep, a configuration file disabled or moved a HUD element, or a game update replaced a modified audio file. Treat the loader, HUD plugins, and music files as separate layers. Repairing one does not automatically repair the others.

The minimap author tested version 1.1.4 with Steam BuildID 25975867 and BepInEx 6.0.0-be.788. A newer game build can require a newer mod even when the files appear to be in the right place.
What versions and folders should I verify first?
Close the game, open its installation directory, and compare the following facts before changing files. The folder names are case-sensitive in documentation, even though Windows normally treats them as equivalent.

If a download contains an extra top-level folder, open it until you can see the folder or DLL shown in the table. A common mistake is ending up with a path such as BepInEx/plugins/BelmontMinimap/BelmontMinimap/ or .../CBCExpBar/CBCExpBar/CBCExpBar.dll; the loader will not find the nested copy.
How do I repair or verify BepInEx 6?
Install the game-specific BepInEx 6 Unity IL2CPP x64 package in the game root, initialize it once, and only then install the mods. The first launch can pause while BepInEx generates proxy assemblies; allow that process to finish rather than closing the game immediately.

- In Steam, open the game’s properties, choose Installed Files, and use Browse to open the directory containing the game executable.
- Extract the BepInEx 6 Unity IL2CPP x64 package directly into that directory. Do not put it inside a newly created subfolder.
- Start the game once. Wait through the initial proxy-assembly generation, reach the title screen, then exit normally.
- Confirm that a
BepInExdirectory and aBepInEx/LogOutput.logfile now exist. The log is the fastest way to tell whether the loader started. - Install one plugin at a time and relaunch. Testing separately identifies a bad extraction or incompatible plugin without making every mod appear broken.
If BepInEx never creates its log, the package is usually in the wrong directory, the architecture is wrong, or the game build is not the one targeted by the package. Reopen the executable’s parent folder and repeat the extraction there before touching the individual mods.
How do I get the missing minimap back?
Repair BepInEx, initialize it, and place Belmont Minimap 1.1.4 so that BepInEx/plugins/BelmontMinimap/ exists. After launching, the mod should add a MODS entry to the pause menu; the Minimap settings page is the definitive sign that it loaded.

- With BepInEx already initialized, extract Belmont Minimap into the game folder and check that its files are inside the
BelmontMinimapdirectory underBepInEx/plugins. - Start the game, pause, and choose MODS → Minimap → Settings.
- Open the mod’s Behaviour tab and bind the show/hide and size controls. The hotkeys are unbound by default, so a correct installation can still appear inactive until you assign them.
- Return to gameplay and check a normal room rather than a dialogue, cutscene, or menu. The minimap can auto-hide in those contexts.
Why is the minimap blank or smaller than expected?
Belmont Minimap follows fog of war, so unexplored rooms are not immediately revealed. Its optional assistance settings can show all terrain and collectible positions, but those options are off by default and can reveal spoilers. Turn them on only if you want that information, then return to the normal fog-of-war behavior when exploring blind.
What if the MODS menu is missing?
A missing MODS entry points to a loader or extraction problem rather than a display preference. Quit the game, inspect BepInEx/LogOutput.log for a Belmont Minimap loading message, and verify the directory depth. When asking for support, include the relevant log section and your Steam BuildID; the minimap page specifically recommends using the log to diagnose this state.
When can a game update break the minimap?
The minimap page warns that larger game updates may require a mod update. If the game’s BuildID changed after an update, compare it with the tested 25975867 build and check whether a newer Belmont Minimap release supports the new executable before changing unrelated files.
How do I restore the missing XP bar?
Experience Bar HUD adds a yellow gauge directly under the health and mana bars. Confirm that its DLL is directly under BepInEx/plugins/CBCExpBar/, then use BepInEx/config/CBCExpBar.cfg to correct visibility or placement.

BepInEx/plugins/CBCExpBar/folder. - Verify that
CBCExpBar.dllis present at that level, not inside another duplicateCBCExpBarfolder. - Launch the game and look beneath health and mana for the yellow gauge.
- If it is absent, close the game and open
BepInEx/config/CBCExpBar.cfgin a plain-text editor. - Check the Enabled switch, then review thickness, spacing, potion-row shift, and color values. Save the file and relaunch after each small change.
A bar that is technically loaded but off-screen or overlapping another HUD element is a configuration issue, not proof that the DLL failed. Reset unusual spacing or shift values, enable the bar, and test at the default scale before making cosmetic adjustments.
Should I reinstall all of BepInEx when the XP bar fails?
No. Remove or replace only the Experience Bar HUD plugin folder if its DLL is corrupt or incompatible. Keeping the loader and other working plugins intact makes it easier to determine whether the next release fixes this one mod.

How do I fix a music replacement that stopped working?
A bank replacement is not a BepInEx DLL. It changes master.bank in the game’s StreamingAssets directory, so the game can overwrite it during an update and the replacement will disappear without affecting the HUD mods.
- Exit the game and open
Castlevania Belmont's Curse_Data/StreamingAssets. - Copy the original
master.bankto a safe location before replacing anything. A useful filename isMaster.Bank.ORIGINAL, preserving the original extension and making the backup obvious. - Place the replacement file in the same directory and preserve the exact filename
master.bank. Do not leave the replacement as a second file with a suffix such asmaster (1).bank. - Launch the game and test a stage, a boss encounter, and a menu. The Complete Music Replacement release states that it covers stages, bosses, menus, credits, and endings.
- If audio fails, close the game, remove the replacement, and restore the backed-up bank before testing anything else.
Why might a complete replacement still be unreliable?
Not every bank download has the same testing history. The Complete Music Replacement page describes broad coverage, while SigmaNL’s music-mod page labels its file an early, incompletely tested build. Keep the original bank available and treat missing tracks, crashes, or silence as reasons to roll back rather than as evidence that the loader is broken.

Can a game update undo the music mod?
Yes. An update can restore the stock master.bank or change the game files around it. After an update, compare the Steam BuildID, check the bank’s timestamp or contents against your backup, and reapply the replacement only after confirming that the mod still targets the new build.
What is the safer alternative to replacing the entire music bank?
BelmontJukebox uses a playlist architecture instead of replacing the game’s shared bank. Install it under BepInEx/Plugins/BelmontJukebox, put compatible songs in its Music folder, and use Page Up and Page Down to change tracks. It still requires BepInEx, but it leaves the original master.bank available for straightforward rollback.
- Initialize BepInEx and exit the game once.
- Extract BelmontJukebox so the named folder is directly inside
BepInEx/Plugins. - Copy your songs into the mod’s Music folder, following the package’s expected file format and naming rules.
- Launch the game and use Page Up or Page Down to move through the playlist.
- If the controls do nothing, inspect
BepInEx/LogOutput.logfor the plugin load message and verify that the songs are in the mod’s Music folder rather than the game’sStreamingAssetsfolder.
The trade-off is control versus coverage: a bank replacement can alter the game’s complete stage, boss, menu, credit, and ending soundtrack in one file, while a playlist mod lets you change tracks without overwriting that bank.

Use a narrow-to-broad test sequence. It prevents a failed music replacement from being mistaken for a failed minimap and gives you a clean log for support.

- Check the loader: confirm the game-root BepInEx installation and a fresh

What should I keep backed up before updating the game?
Keep the original master.bank, copies of your working plugin folders, and the current BepInEx/config files. Record the Steam BuildID and mod versions alongside those backups. When an update breaks a plugin, restore the bank first, then test BepInEx and each DLL separately; deleting the entire BepInEx installation removes useful logs and makes recovery harder.
For a clean rollback, close the game, restore the original bank if audio was changed, remove only the affected plugin directory if a HUD mod failed, and leave unrelated plugins untouched. Recreate the log on the next launch and compare the new messages with the last working run.

Where is the Steam folder for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse?
In Steam, open the game’s Properties, select Installed Files, and choose Browse. The correct folder is the one containing the game executable and the Castlevania Belmont's Curse_Data directory; BepInEx and plugin folders belong beside the executable, not inside the data directory.
Can I use the minimap and XP bar together?
Yes, they are separate BepInEx plugins with different directories and configuration files. Install and test each independently so a loader error or malformed DLL can be isolated without removing the other HUD feature.
