Is the Visual C++ 2015 runtime still supported on Windows 7?

Microsoft’s Download Center listings give approximate installer sizes of 13.1 MB for x86 and 13.9 MB for x64 (the sizes listed in 2024). Treat those as the sizes of the listed installers, not as a guarantee that every mirror, language, or later repackaging will be identical.
How do I download MSVCP140 safely?
Download the redistributable installer from the Microsoft Download Center, not from a site offering an individual DLL. Search Microsoft’s site for the legacy Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable and select the official files named vc_redist.x86.exe and, on 64-bit Windows when needed, vc_redist.x64.exe.

- Run Start > All Programs > Windows Update, select Check for updates, and install the applicable updates offered for the computer.
- Restart when Windows Update requests it, then run Windows Update again until no prerequisite update remains pending.

Why should I avoid standalone DLL download sites?
