First identify what “stuttering” means: choppy or frozen visuals, players warping around, delayed actions, or a problem that happens in just one experience. Those symptoms point to different causes. For choppy visuals, start by lowering Roblox’s graphics quality; for warping or delayed actions, investigate the connection instead.
Identify what is stuttering
Roblox groups lag into network, graphics, and system problems. A brief freeze or choppy image is not automatically a network issue, and a connection adjustment will not necessarily improve frame pacing.

- Choppy visuals or brief freezes: More consistent with graphics performance or system resources being strained.
- Other players warp, or your actions take unusually long: More consistent with a slow or unstable connection.
- Only one experience is affected: The experience itself may be responsible, for example because of a bad script or too many objects.
These are useful clues, not a guaranteed diagnosis. Roblox describes lag as an experience appearing to stutter or slow down, with players seeming to warp around.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor choppy visuals, lower Roblox graphics quality
- While playing, press Esc to open the in-experience menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Under Graphics, turn off Graphics Quality – Auto.
- Lower the graphics level and check whether the stutter improves.
Lower graphics quality reduces visual detail but also reduces the work the device must do to run Roblox. If the image becomes smoother, you can try raising the level gradually to find a workable balance.

If graphics changes do not help, reduce system load
Close other high-power apps that may be using resources Roblox needs, then check the experience again. This is easy to reverse; whether it helps depends on what was using resources.
If the problem continues, the device may not have enough performance for the experience. Roblox says a more capable device or an upgrade may be needed in that case. Treat hardware as a later possibility, not the first fix to try.

For warping players or delayed actions, check the connection
When other players jump unpredictably between positions or actions arrive late, focus on connection stability rather than graphics settings. Roblox identifies an inconsistent wireless connection as one possible cause. If you can, compare play over wired Ethernet with play over Wi-Fi; this is a test for wireless instability, not a remedy for choppy rendering or graphics-related frame drops.
Roblox’s published minimum internet recommendation is 4–8 Mb/s for a single-use household; it says larger households need more bandwidth. That recommendation does not by itself establish that a connection is stable or that it is the cause of a particular stutter.

Check whether the issue belongs to one experience
If Roblox runs normally elsewhere but stutters in just one experience, the creator may need to fix a script or reduce the number of objects. Contact the experience’s creator and describe what happens and when. A player-side graphics or network setting cannot repair a problem in the creator’s experience.
Check Windows requirements and graphics compatibility when relevant
These published requirements apply to Roblox on Windows, not every platform. Roblox lists 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, DirectX 10 or higher feature-level support, at least 1 GB of memory, and at least 300 MB of system storage for installation. It recommends a computer under five years old with a dedicated video card, or a laptop under three years old with integrated graphics, for best performance. Meeting the listed requirements does not guarantee smooth frame pacing in every experience.

For graphics errors or compatibility symptoms, Roblox lists outdated graphics drivers, unsupported DirectX feature level, unsupported graphics hardware, and changed graphics settings as possible causes. If a driver appears outdated, identify the graphics card and get its latest driver from the card manufacturer. Roblox specifically suggests checking compatibility mode when an outdated-graphics message appears despite meeting minimum requirements; this is not a universal stutter fix.

Before contacting Roblox Support, note whether the image is choppy, the game briefly freezes, other players warp, or actions are delayed. Include whether it happens in multiple experiences and when it occurs. If available, record FPS and ping as displayed by the relevant tools. Roblox Creator Hub documents performance tools and overlays for graphics, physics, network traffic, and FPS; it distinguishes data ping from network ping, so values from different measurements are not interchangeable.

Roblox Creator Hub describes 60 FPS—one frame every 16.67 milliseconds—as the default target for Roblox games. That is performance context, not a promise that a player’s device will maintain 60 FPS in every experience.
