If an Escape from Tarkov download or update is slow, first check Battlestate Games’ official channel for a current access or maintenance notice. If there is no reported incident, compare the launcher with another download on the same connection, then contact Battlestate support if the problem persists. Battlestate has acknowledged launcher and game access interruptions in the past, but those historical notices do not show whether a service problem is happening now.
1. Check for a Battlestate service notice
Before changing settings on your PC or network, check the official Escape from Tarkov channel for a current notice about launcher access, game services, or maintenance. Battlestate has posted about access difficulties and service restoration before; those posts are evidence that service-side interruptions can happen, not confirmation of a current incident.

If a current notice reports a disruption, wait for service to be restored and retry the download. Avoid making disruptive system changes while a service-side issue may explain the slowdown.
2. Find out whether the slowdown is limited to the launcher
While the Tarkov download is slow, try another download on the same connection. This is a general diagnostic check, not a Battlestate-published procedure.

- 40 Gbps 2000 Mhz High Speed: The Cat 8 ethernet cable support max. 40 Gbps data transfer and 2000 MHz Brandwith, ideal for gaming and streaming, greatly improving upload and download speed, sound, image and resolution quality
- Excellent Anti-interference: The ethernet cable comes with 4 shielded foiled twisted pairs (F/FTP), pure copper core and gold-plated RJ45 connector, reducing interference, noise and crosstalk, making network speed faster and more stable
- Marvelous Durability: Internet cable wrapped with quality cotton braided cord, which makes the LAN cable stronger and more durable. The test proves that this internet cable can be bent at least 10000 times without broken, very suitable for long-term use
- PoE Supported: All lengths of ethernet cord can support the PoE power supply function except 65ft. You don't need additional power supply when installing a PoE camera, which is very convenient and safe
- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
- Other downloads are also slow: the issue may affect your broader connection or network path. Record that result before investigating those areas.
- Only the BSG Launcher is slow: note that distinction for Battlestate support; it can help describe the problem without assuming its cause.
If practical, compare again later. A speed that changes over time can be useful context, but it does not by itself identify the cause.
3. Keep a concise record before contacting support
If the slowdown continues, collect details while it is happening so your report is specific:

- The unique flat cable shape allows for a cleaner and safer installation. You can easily and seamlessly make the cable run along walls, follow edges & corners or even make it completely invisible by sliding it under a carpet.
- When it happened, including your time zone and region.
- The speed shown in the launcher, including the units displayed.
- Whether another download on the same connection was also slow.
- The exact error text, if the launcher displays one.
- The launcher version, if it is visible.
This is a practical set of details to include, not a checklist Battlestate has published as a support requirement.

What not to treat as a confirmed fix
There is no official Battlestate slow-download guide in the available material confirming a particular setting or workaround. In particular, do not assume that deleting cache files, changing DNS, using a VPN, editing the hosts file, disabling antivirus or firewall protections, or forwarding ports will solve the problem. Those changes can have side effects, and none is established here as a Battlestate-endorsed remedy.
Community discussions can offer ideas, but they are anecdotes. For example, a Reddit thread titled “Download speed at 4-5MB/sec” includes user suggestions; it does not establish a generally effective fix. Reports may involve different launcher versions, internet providers, or service conditions. Avoid unofficial executable downloads and modified launcher files.
