If Modern Warfare 3 reports that teknomw3.dll is missing, do not download a replacement DLL or copy one into Windows folders. Note the exact filename, whether the message appears before or after the game window opens, and the folder in which you are launching TeknoMW3. 3. Keep Steam and TeknoMW3 in different folders
The client instructions say to copy the complete Steam game folder to another location for TeknoMW3, and the FAQ says the Steam and TeknoMW3 installations should not share one folder.
- Use Steam’s local-files browsing option to locate the repaired Modern Warfare 3 directory.
- Copy the complete game folder, rather than selecting individual executables or DLLs.
- Paste that copy into a different location with its own folder path.
- Leave the original Steam directory as the untouched base installation.
Do not point both Steam and TeknoMW3 at the same directory. A shared folder makes it difficult to know which launcher supplied a file and removes the clean rollback point that the original Steam installation provides. Is downloading teknomw3.dll from a DLL website safe?
No. The documented workflow is Steam repair, a separate complete copy, and the TeknoMW3 launcher. A random DLL mirror cannot establish that its file belongs to your Modern Warfare 3 build or that it matches the launcher’s other components.
