If teammates can’t hear you in Call of Duty: Mobile, check the game’s mute and voice-channel controls first, then confirm the game has microphone access in your phone’s settings. On Android 12 and later, also check the system-wide microphone switch. If your microphone fails in other apps too, troubleshoot the phone rather than COD Mobile.
1. Check COD Mobile’s voice and mute controls
Open the game’s audio or voice controls and check that your microphone is not muted and that the selected voice channel is the one your teammates are using, such as team or party chat. Game labels and menu locations can change, so look for the current voice-chat controls rather than relying on a fixed tap path.
After changing a control, re-enter voice chat or start a new match and ask a teammate to check whether they can hear you.
2. Allow microphone access in your phone settings
Android
- Open Settings, then Apps. Depending on the phone, this may be called Apps & notifications, App Manager, or Manage apps.
- Select Call of Duty: Mobile, then open Permissions.
- Choose Microphone and allow access. Google explains that this permission lets an app record audio: Google Play Help: Change app permissions on your Android phone.
iPhone
- Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Turn on access for Call of Duty: Mobile if it appears in the list. Apple says apps must request microphone access before using the hardware, and you can review access in this settings list: Apple Support: Control access to hardware features on iPhone.
If the game is not listed, open it and try to use voice chat so iOS can present a permission request. If no request appears and the option remains absent, continue with the other checks and contact Activision support if the problem is limited to the game.

3. Check Android’s system-wide microphone switch
On Android 12 and later, app permission can be enabled while the phone’s global microphone access is disabled. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings and make sure Microphone access is on. Tile names and placement vary by device.
Android’s microphone privacy indicator can also show when an app or service is using the microphone; tap the indicator where available to inspect access. Google notes that these controls and indicators apply to Android 12 and newer, and exact steps vary by device: Google Android Help: Check if your Android camera or microphone is on or off.

4. Find out whether the phone microphone works outside the game
iPhone
Record a short clip in Voice Memos and play it back. Apple also recommends recording video with Camera to check microphone behavior. Make sure a case, film, or debris is not blocking the microphone openings; remove the case or film and clear visible debris gently. See Apple’s microphone troubleshooting steps.
If calls, recordings, and multiple apps all have unclear or absent audio after these checks, Apple says service may be needed: Apple Support: If the microphones on your iPhone aren’t working.

Android
Try recording audio or making a call in another app, and check any microphone-use indicator available on your phone. Android menus and hardware tests differ by manufacturer, so there is no single diagnostic path that applies to every Android model.
If the microphone works normally in other apps, the fault is more likely to involve COD Mobile’s voice settings, permission, or game behavior. If it also fails in other apps, focus on the phone’s microphone and device support rather than changing game settings repeatedly.

5. Try general COD Mobile troubleshooting
If the microphone works elsewhere and the game’s controls and permissions are correct, try Activision’s general app troubleshooting steps. Its guidance covers crashes, freezes, and launch or access problems; it does not identify these steps as microphone-specific fixes.
- Restart the phone.
- Update Call of Duty: Mobile from the app store.
- Install any available operating-system update.
- On Android, clear the game’s cache from the app settings.

6. Contact support when the problem is limited to COD Mobile
If your microphone works in other apps but teammates still cannot hear you after checking the game controls and permissions, use the question-mark icon at the top of the main lobby screen and choose the relevant category or topic. Activision’s Call of Duty: Mobile support hub is also the place to find current support options.
Activision’s February 25, 2026 troubleshooting article lists a minimum of Android 6.0 with 2 GB of RAM for Android devices, and iOS 15.0 with 2 GB of RAM for iOS devices. These are dated game compatibility requirements, not microphone-specific requirements, and may change.
