Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS means the browser is trapped in a redirect loop. It keeps receiving instructions to load another URL, but the chain never reaches a final page. Open the address in a private window first: if it works there, remove cookies and site data for that domain. If it loops in multiple browsers or for multiple people, the cause is probably a Cloudflare, tunnel, load-balancer, origin-server, or CMS rule. Site owners should trace every Location header and make the proxy’s HTTPS mode agree with the origin’s behavior.

What ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS actually means
A normal redirect is finite: a server sends a 301, 302, 307, or 308 response, the browser follows the Location header, and the destination returns the page. The error appears when that process repeats until the browser’s redirect limit is reached.

Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Cloudflare describes the condition plainly: “This error occurs when visitors get stuck in a redirect loop.” Its troubleshooting documentation was updated September 1, 2026. The loop can be created by the browser, a CDN or reverse proxy, a tunnel, a load balancer, the web server, or application code.
| What you observe | Most likely scope | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
| The URL works in a private window or another browser | Cookies or stored site data in the original browser | Delete data for that domain, close affected tabs, and retry |
| The same URL loops in several browsers on one network | Site configuration, proxy, origin, or network-level rule | Inspect the redirect chain and server settings |
| Several users and locations see the loop | Shared edge, tunnel, load balancer, or origin configuration | Have the site administrator compare proxy and origin protocols |
1. Rule out a browser-only problem
Use a private window or a second browser
- Copy the complete URL, including whether it begins with
http://orhttps://. - Open a private or incognito window and paste the URL. You can also test with a second browser or another device.
- If the page works only in the clean session, the original browser has stale, contradictory, or expired site state. Continue with a domain-specific data removal rather than deleting every saved login.
Remove only that site’s cookies and storage
- Chrome: open
Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data and permissions, search for the domain, remove its stored data, close the affected tabs, and try again. - Firefox: open
Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data, find the domain, remove it, and reload the site. - Edge: open
Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data → See all cookies and site data, search for the domain, and delete its entry. - Safari on macOS: open
Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data, select the domain, remove it, then reopen the page.
Cookie deletion is a narrow, reversible test. It cannot repair a redirect rule that fails for every visitor, and it will sign you out of that site.

2. Map the redirect chain instead of guessing
Inspect requests in developer tools
- Open the browser’s developer tools and select the Network panel.
- Enable Preserve log, clear the existing entries, and request the failing URL again.
- Select each 3xx response and record its status code and
Locationheader. Include the scheme, host, path, and query string in your notes.
A command-line check is useful when the browser hides intermediate responses. This command follows redirects but stops after ten hops:
curl -I -L --max-redirs 10 https://example.com/
To print headers for one request without following it, use:
curl -sS -D - -o /dev/null https://example.com/
Replace the example address with the failing URL. Do not treat the command’s hop limit as a diagnosis by itself; the valuable evidence is the repeating target in each Location header.
| Repeating pattern | What it usually indicates | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
http:// changes to https://, then back to http:// |
HTTPS enforcement disagrees between proxy and origin | Cloudflare SSL/TLS mode, origin redirects, load-balancer forwarding headers |
Apex host changes to www, then returns to the apex |
Two canonical-host rules point at each other | Redirect Rules, legacy Page Rules, web-server and CMS settings |
Two paths alternate, such as /login and / |
Application middleware, authentication, or path rules conflict | CMS plugins, application code, edge rules, session cookies |
| The same URL repeats with no visible change | A proxy or origin is redirecting to its own public URL | Forwarded-protocol handling and the rule that generated the first response |
3. Align Cloudflare’s SSL/TLS mode with the origin
The most important site-owner check is whether the protocol Cloudflare uses toward the origin matches what the origin expects. A browser can connect to Cloudflare over HTTPS while Cloudflare uses a different protocol on the internal hop.

| Cloudflare mode | Cloudflare-to-origin connection | Loop to watch for | Corrective direction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexible | HTTP | The origin receives HTTP, forces HTTPS, and Cloudflare sends the request back to the origin over HTTP | Remove the origin’s HTTPS redirect, or raise the mode to Full or higher after configuring an origin certificate |
| Full | HTTPS | The origin redirects an HTTPS request back to HTTP | Remove the origin’s HTTP redirect and keep the request on HTTPS |
| Full (strict) | HTTPS with stricter certificate validation | The origin redirects HTTPS back to HTTP, or its certificate configuration is incompatible | Keep HTTPS at the origin and install a certificate that satisfies strict validation |
Fix a Flexible-mode loop
In Flexible mode, an HTTPS visitor request is terminated at Cloudflare, but the origin receives HTTP. If the origin automatically changes every HTTP request to HTTPS, the same request can cycle indefinitely. Choose one consistent design:
- Remove the origin’s HTTP-to-HTTPS redirect while you remain on Flexible; or
- Move to Full or Full (strict), install and configure an origin certificate, and retain HTTPS enforcement at the origin.
Do not leave both behaviors active. A redirect that is correct when visitors connect directly to the origin can be wrong when a proxy is deliberately using HTTP on its internal hop.
Fix a Full or Full (strict) loop
Full modes connect to the origin over HTTPS. If the origin then redirects that HTTPS request to HTTP, Cloudflare receives a destination that contradicts the original secure connection and the chain can repeat. Remove the HTTPS-to-HTTP redirect. Check web-server configuration, application middleware, and any canonical URL setting that might generate it.
4. Audit Cloudflare edge settings as one redirect chain
Open the site’s Cloudflare dashboard and review SSL/TLS → Edge Certificates. Treat these controls as a single system rather than changing them independently.

Always Use HTTPS and HSTS
Always Use HTTPS is appropriate only when the entire application supports HTTPS. It can participate in a loop if the origin answers an HTTPS request by redirecting it back to HTTP. HSTS-related behavior can also force browsers to use HTTPS, so compare those settings with the origin’s canonical URL and certificate configuration.
Redirect Rules and legacy Page Rules
Review current Redirect Rules and older Page Rules together. A common cycle looks like this:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- A rule sends
https://a.example.comtohttp://b.example.com. - A second rule sends
http://b.example.comback tohttps://a.example.com.
Remove one side of the cycle and make the final destination use the intended HTTPS scheme. Cloudflare’s HTTPS-enforcement guidance also recommends avoiding forwarding targets that begin with http, confirming that SSL mode is not Off, and enabling Always Use HTTPS only after the application is ready for it.
Check for duplicate enforcement
Temporarily identify every place that can redirect: edge rules, origin rules, CMS settings, and load-balancer policies. Leave one authoritative canonicalization rule for scheme and one for hostname. After each change, purge only the relevant cache if necessary and test from a private window so an old response does not confuse the result.

5. Inspect the origin server and load balancer
When the loop persists across browsers, inspect the origin rather than repeatedly clearing local data. Check Apache or Nginx virtual-host rules, application middleware, CMS canonical URLs, and load-balancer policies for:
- Two separate HTTP-to-HTTPS redirects that target each other through a proxy;
- A rule that sends secure traffic back to HTTP;
- Apex-to-
wwwandwww-to-apex rules enabled at the same time; - Redirects that append and then remove a trailing slash or path prefix;
- Authentication middleware that redirects an already authenticated request back to the login URL.
If TLS terminates at a load balancer or Cloudflare, the application must receive and trust the forwarded-protocol information. If it believes every proxied request is HTTP, it may issue an HTTPS redirect on every request. This is an implementation diagnosis derived from the proxy/origin loop pattern; verify the actual forwarded-header and trusted-proxy settings in your server and framework.

After changing the origin, test the origin’s direct hostname only if your deployment permits it, then test the public hostname through the proxy. A direct-origin result does not prove that the public proxy chain is correct.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.6. Check Cloudflare Tunnel service URLs
Tunnel deployments have another version of the same mismatch. Cloudflare documents a case where the origin redirects HTTP requests to HTTPS while the published application route uses an http:// service URL. The tunnel repeatedly reaches the origin over the protocol that the origin refuses.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
- Open the tunnel configuration and locate the published application’s service URL.
- Compare its scheme with the protocol the origin expects and with the certificate available on that service.
- Change the service URL or the origin redirect behavior so the tunnel and origin agree.
- Retest the complete public hostname, not only the internal service address.
If the application expects HTTPS, publish an HTTPS service and configure certificate verification as required by your tunnel setup. If the origin is intentionally HTTP-only behind a trusted tunnel, remove an origin rule that tries to upgrade that internal request.
7. Repair WordPress and other CMS configurations
Verify the public URLs
In WordPress, compare the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) under Settings → General with the public HTTPS hostname. A mismatch in scheme, hostname, or subdirectory can make the CMS redirect every request.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Find a plugin or theme conflict
- Record which redirect, SSL, and caching plugins are active.
- Temporarily disable one relevant plugin at a time, testing the public URL after each change.
- When the loop stops, restore plugins individually until the conflicting rule is identified.
- Apply the final configuration in only one layer: CMS, edge, or origin, rather than duplicating the same redirect everywhere.
If Cloudflare fronts the site, make its SSL mode agree with WordPress’s canonical HTTPS settings. Cloudflare recommends its WordPress plugin and Automatic HTTPS Rewrites to reduce redirect-loop and mixed-content problems, but those features do not replace correct origin and edge rules.
8. Verify the repair safely
- Request the original URL with a clean private session.
- Use developer tools or
curlto confirm that theLocationchain ends at a final 200 response, or at the expected non-redirect response. - Test both
http://andhttps://entry points, the apex andwwwhostnames if both are supported, and a representative deep link. - Check from a second browser or network to ensure the fix is not limited to one cached session.
- Re-enable plugins and edge features one at a time if you disabled them during diagnosis.
Keep a short record of the old rule, the replacement, and the observed header chain. That makes rollback possible if a later CMS, certificate, or proxy change recreates the loop.
Which fix should you choose?
| Option | Change location | Certificate requirement | Scope and risk | How to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delete domain cookies | Browser | None | Narrow and reversible; affects only one user’s stored state | Page works in a clean session and after data removal |
| Remove a duplicate redirect | CMS, origin, edge, or load balancer | Depends on deployment | Changes behavior for visitors; preserve a rollback copy | Header chain reaches one canonical URL |
| Raise Flexible to Full | Cloudflare SSL/TLS | Working origin certificate | Changes the proxy-to-origin protocol for the whole site | Origin accepts HTTPS and no longer redirects it to HTTP |
| Use Full (strict) | Cloudflare SSL/TLS and origin certificate | Certificate that passes strict validation | Strongest certificate checking; misconfigured certificates can cause a different TLS error | Certificate validates and the redirect chain is finite |
| Align a Tunnel service URL | Cloudflare Tunnel | Depends on the chosen service protocol | Applies to the published route; internal services may remain unchanged | Public request reaches the origin without a protocol bounce |
When you are only a visitor
You can test a private window, another browser, another network, and domain-specific data removal. If the same address loops everywhere, further browser changes will not repair it. Send the site owner the exact URL, the time of the failure, the browsers or networks tested, and a short copy of the repeating Location targets. That information tells an administrator whether to inspect scheme changes, host canonicalization, path rules, or session handling.
For a site owner, the decisive question is not “How many redirects occurred?” but “Which component generated each one, and does every hop agree on the public scheme and hostname?”
