Open Locker > Sidekicks, select Fancy Ragdoll, and equip it; then test in Battle Royale. If it works there but not on a creator-made island, that island may have Sidekicks disabled. If it is equipped yet invisible in a supported experience, follow Epic’s visual-bug troubleshooting steps.
Start with the two checks that solve most cases
- Equip the Sidekick. From the Fortnite lobby, open Locker. In the left-hand categories, choose Sidekicks, select the current Sidekick tile, choose Fancy Ragdoll from your owned Sidekicks, and confirm the selection.
- Test in Battle Royale. Enter a normal Battle Royale match rather than starting with a creator-made island. Battle Royale provides a known supported environment and helps separate a Locker or client problem from an island setting.
If Fancy Ragdoll appears in that match, your account and game installation are probably functioning; a particular island or another player’s viewing perspective is the more likely explanation. If the cat is missing even there, continue through the checks below.

What Fancy Ragdoll is—and what “not appearing” can mean
Fancy Ragdoll is a cosmetic Sidekick in Fortnite’s Chic Cat set. Epic introduced it in Chapter 7, Season 4, and listed it at 1,200 V-Bucks. The item is a companion cosmetic, not an AI squadmate or a gameplay device. Epic describes Sidekicks as reacting to the surrounding world, while explicitly stating that they do not detect enemies or items. Epic also says Sidekicks provide no gameplay advantage and do not take damage.
“Not appearing” describes several different situations, and each points to a different fix:

Check the Locker slot and your account entitlement
Equip Fancy Ragdoll from the correct category
Sidekicks are selected separately from outfits, back blings, and other Locker cosmetics. Open Locker, choose Sidekicks in the left navigation, select the active Sidekick tile, and pick Fancy Ragdoll from the available list. A purchase does not necessarily mean the item is currently assigned to the slot; the explicit equip step is required.
If Fancy Ragdoll is missing from the list
First verify that the Epic account in the current Fortnite session is the account that completed the purchase. Account switching, a different console-linked account, or an incomplete synchronization can make an owned cosmetic appear absent. Sign in again with the purchasing account and give the account time to synchronize before assuming the purchase failed.
There is no player-side entitlement-repair procedure established for this specific situation. If the item still does not appear after the account check and synchronization, contact Epic Support and include the transaction information so support can investigate the entitlement. Do not buy the item again while the first transaction is being investigated.

Fancy Ragdoll’s appearance is locked after you confirm its customization. Epic states that “Your choices are permanent after you lock them in.” Epic also requires each owned Sidekick customization to be unique and does not allow duplicate appearances. Relocking, changing the appearance, or purchasing another copy will not repair a missing render; those actions can permanently change the customization or create an unnecessary second transaction.

Use a supported experience to isolate the problem
Epic says Sidekicks can accompany players in Battle Royale, Save the World, Fortnite Festival backstage, LEGO Fortnite, and developer-made experiences that have enabled Sidekicks. Support is therefore experience-dependent rather than universal across every island or playlist.
Why Battle Royale is the best first test
Battle Royale is the quickest controlled test because it is an Epic-supported mode with clearly documented Sidekick behavior. Equip Fancy Ragdoll, join a match, and check your own character. Then ask a squadmate on your team to look for it. This test answers two separate questions: whether your client is rendering the cosmetic and whether another player is allowed to see it under Battle Royale’s team rule.
Creator-made islands can disable Sidekicks
In a developer-made island, the island creator controls whether Sidekicks are enabled. A cat that appears in Battle Royale but disappears when you load one particular island is consistent with that island’s configuration, not necessarily with a damaged Locker item. Try another supported experience before reinstalling Fortnite. If the island does not support Sidekicks, there is no Locker setting that can force Fancy Ragdoll to render there.

Understand who can see Fancy Ragdoll in Battle Royale
Epic’s item description states: “In Battle Royale, you can only see your team’s Sidekicks.” This is an intentional visibility rule, not a rendering failure. You may see Fancy Ragdoll while a player on the opposing team cannot. A friend who is elsewhere in the match or not assigned to your team may also be unable to see it.

When checking visibility, use a teammate in your current squad rather than an opponent or a spectator in another part of the match. If you and that teammate can see the Sidekick, the behavior is working as designed even if another friend reports that the cat is absent. Visibility can vary in other Fortnite experiences, so do not use an island or playlist with different rules as proof that Battle Royale is broken.
If it is equipped but invisible in a supported experience
Once Locker selection, account ownership, mode support, and team visibility have been ruled out, treat the symptom as a general Fortnite visual bug. Epic’s published troubleshooting sequence is broader than Fancy Ragdoll and is not a Sidekick-specific hotfix, but it is the appropriate recovery path.
1. Verify the game files on PC
In the Epic Games Launcher, use Fortnite’s option to verify the installed files. Verification checks the local installation and replaces damaged or missing files without requiring a full reinstall. After it completes, launch Fortnite, equip Fancy Ragdoll again, and repeat the Battle Royale test.

A corrupted launcher cache can interfere with updates or local asset handling. Close Fortnite and the Epic Games Launcher, clear the launcher cache using Epic’s support instructions for your operating system, reopen the launcher, and start Fortnite again. This step applies to the PC launcher; it is not a universal console procedure.

3. Perform a clean boot and disable background applications
Epic also recommends a clean boot and disabling background applications when visual problems continue. The purpose is to remove software conflicts that can affect game files, overlays, or rendering. Restart after changing startup services, launch Fortnite with only the necessary software active, and check the Sidekick in a supported mode.
4. Reinstall Fortnite if the fault survives the earlier steps
Uninstall and reinstall Fortnite only after verifying files, clearing the PC launcher cache where applicable, and testing with background applications reduced. Reinstallation replaces the complete local game installation; it does not alter your Epic account ownership or undo a confirmed Sidekick customization. After the new installation finishes, equip Fancy Ragdoll and test Battle Royale before returning to a creator-made island.
5. Submit an in-game bug report
If Fancy Ragdoll remains invisible in a supported experience after the troubleshooting sequence, submit an in-game bug report. Include the platform, the experience or playlist, whether you can see the Sidekick yourself, whether a teammate can see it, and the steps already attempted. Those details distinguish a team-visibility rule or island configuration from a client rendering defect.
Use the symptom to choose the next branch
The item is absent from Locker everywhere
Stay on the account and entitlement branch. Confirm the purchasing Epic account, check that the transaction completed, allow synchronization, and contact Epic Support with the transaction details if Fancy Ragdoll never enters the Sidekicks list. File-repair steps cannot create an entitlement that the account does not currently show.

The item is in Locker but does not appear in Battle Royale
Recheck that Fancy Ragdoll is the selected Sidekick rather than merely an owned item. Test your own view first, then ask a current teammate to check. If neither of you sees it in Battle Royale, proceed with file verification and the other visual-bug steps.
You can see it, but friends cannot
Identify the friends’ relationship to your match. A teammate should be able to see a team Sidekick under the documented Battle Royale rule; an opponent or a player outside your team may not. If the friend is on your team and still cannot see it, compare results in another supported experience and report the issue if the discrepancy persists.
It works in Battle Royale but not in Creative
Check whether the problem is limited to one developer-made island. Island creators can disable Sidekicks, so a single-island failure is expected when that setting is off. A second supported island or Epic mode provides a useful control test without changing your installation.
Another Sidekick appears, but Fancy Ragdoll does not
That pattern points toward the specific Fancy Ragdoll selection, customization, or asset rather than a global Sidekick shutdown. Confirm Fancy Ragdoll is the active tile, avoid relocking its appearance, and run the visual-bug sequence if the same account and mode render other Sidekicks normally.
Availability and purchase timing
Epic’s displayed web listing shows Fancy Ragdoll available until October 23, 2026 at 00:00 GMT. That timestamp describes the listing shown at the time of publication and does not guarantee that every account will see the same shop rotation. Treat the in-game Item Shop timer as the final authority for your account because rotations can change.
Availability has no bearing on whether an already-owned Fancy Ragdoll should render. If you completed a purchase and the item is not in Locker, resolve the account entitlement issue rather than attempting a second purchase.
What the Sidekick can and cannot do
- Fancy Ragdoll is a cosmetic companion in the Chic Cat set.
- Sidekicks react to the world around the player.
- They do not detect enemies or items.
- They do not provide a gameplay advantage.
- They do not take damage.
- Whether other players see one depends on the experience and, in Battle Royale, team membership.
These limitations explain why an invisible cat is not a combat or detection problem. The useful questions are whether the item is owned, equipped, supported by the current experience, visible to the person checking, and rendering correctly on the client.
