The “This game is not available on your operating system” message in VALORANT does not automatically mean that Windows is unsupported. Players have reported the error on Windows 10, so first verify your Windows build, 64-bit architecture, update status, and—particularly on Windows 11—TPM 2.0 and UEFI Secure Boot. Then work through software cleanup before considering hardware changes or a reinstall.
This guide explains what the message means, which requirements matter, and a safe troubleshooting sequence that moves from reversible checks to stronger repairs.

The message is a launcher or Vanguard compatibility warning, not a complete diagnosis. A supported Windows installation can still trigger it when the build is outdated, the system is 32-bit, required firmware security features are disabled, local VALORANT files are damaged, or Riot processes are stuck.
Driver Easy has documented reports of the message appearing on Windows 10. That means you should not jump directly to buying new hardware or replacing Windows. Confirm the machine’s actual configuration first, because the wording alone cannot identify the failing component.

Use evidence in this order: Microsoft’s published Windows requirements, the installed Windows build and architecture, Vanguard’s security checks, then local game-state and process troubleshooting. Community workarounds such as compatibility mode are lower-confidence and belong at the end of the process.
Which Windows and hardware requirements should I check?
For the current baseline described by Driver Easy, VALORANT should be checked on 64-bit Windows 10 build 19041 or later, or on Windows 11 with the required security configuration. Microsoft’s Windows 11 minimums add hardware requirements that are independent of the game’s graphics performance.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Check | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Windows edition and build | Windows 10 build 19041 or later, or a supported Windows 11 installation | An older build may fail launcher or Vanguard compatibility checks even when the PC is otherwise powerful enough. |
| System type | 64-bit operating system | The current VALORANT baseline is 64-bit Windows; a 32-bit installation is not equivalent. |
| TPM | TPM 2.0 available and enabled when required, especially on Windows 11 | Vanguard can use the platform security module to validate a trusted boot environment. |
| Boot mode | UEFI firmware with Secure Boot enabled when required | Secure Boot prevents untrusted boot components from loading before Windows. |
| Processor | A compatible 64-bit processor for Windows 11 | Windows 11 checks CPU compatibility separately from RAM or storage capacity. |
| Memory | At least 4 GB RAM for Windows 11 | This is Microsoft’s minimum installation requirement, not a recommended gaming specification. |
| Storage | At least 64 GB available for Windows 11 | This is the operating system minimum; VALORANT and updates require additional free space. |
Microsoft recommends using its PC Health Check utility or consulting the PC manufacturer when Windows 11 compatibility is unclear. Meeting the Windows 11 minimum does not guarantee that every VALORANT launch issue is resolved, but failing it explains why a security-dependent configuration may be rejected.
How do I verify my Windows version and 64-bit architecture?
Start with Windows itself rather than the game launcher. This confirms whether the installed system matches the baseline before you alter firmware or delete files.
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Read Windows specifications and note the edition, version, and OS build. Windows 10 should show build 19041 or newer for the stated baseline.
- Under Device specifications, read System type. It should identify a 64-bit operating system.
- If the build is older, open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update on Windows 10, or Settings > Windows Update on Windows 11, then install pending updates and restart.
Do not confuse a 64-bit processor with a 64-bit Windows installation. A computer can contain a 64-bit-capable CPU while still running 32-bit Windows; the installed operating system is the value that matters for this check.

How do I check TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot?
These checks are most important on Windows 11. A TPM 2.0 chip is not the only way to satisfy the requirement: many desktop and laptop motherboards provide firmware TPM, commonly labelled Intel PTT or AMD fTPM.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck TPM from Windows
- Press Windows + R, type
tpm.msc, and press Enter. - In the TPM Management window, check the status. It should say the TPM is ready for use.
- Read Specification Version. The required value is 2.0, not 1.2.
If Windows reports that a compatible TPM cannot be found, the module may be disabled in firmware rather than absent. Do not clear the TPM as a troubleshooting experiment; clearing it can affect stored keys and encryption recovery.
Check Secure Boot from Windows
- Press Windows + R, type
msinfo32, and press Enter. - In System Information, find BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State.
- For a modern Windows 11 configuration, BIOS Mode should be UEFI and Secure Boot State should be On.
Changing from Legacy or CSM boot to UEFI can require a correctly partitioned system disk. Back up important files and confirm your manufacturer’s conversion procedure before changing that setting. A firmware mistake can prevent Windows from booting, so this is not a casual first step.
When is a physical TPM module relevant?
A discrete TPM 2.0 module is relevant only when the motherboard supports a compatible header and firmware TPM cannot be enabled or is unavailable. Module connectors and pin layouts are motherboard-specific. Buying a random module is not a universal fix for this error, and it will not repair an outdated Windows build, corrupted files, or a stuck Vanguard service.
What should I do first when the message appears?
Use the least disruptive sequence first. Each step has a clear purpose and an easy rollback.

1. Restart and finish Windows updates
Restart Windows even if the launcher appears to close normally. Then install all pending Windows updates and restart again. The Windows Club places these actions at the start of its troubleshooting sequence because incomplete servicing can leave security components in an inconsistent state.
2. Close stuck VALORANT and Riot processes
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- On the Processes tab, end any remaining VALORANT, Riot Client, or Vanguard processes.
- Reopen the Riot Client from the Start menu and launch VALORANT.
Ending a process removes a stale session; it does not prove that your operating system is unsupported. If the same message returns, continue to the configuration checks instead of repeatedly killing processes.
3. Update the graphics driver
Install the latest driver for your GPU from its manufacturer: NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. Use the maker’s normal driver package for your exact model and Windows version. An old graphics driver is not the only possible cause, but Driver Easy lists driver updates as a relevant check because launcher and game components depend on current Windows graphics interfaces.
How do I clear VALORANT’s local configuration safely?
Corrupted local state can make a valid installation behave as if it is incompatible. Clearing the configuration and log folders resets local settings without immediately removing the entire game.

- Exit VALORANT and the Riot Client.
- Open Task Manager and end any remaining VALORANT, Riot Client, or Vanguard processes.
- Press Windows + R, enter
%localappdata%VALORANTSaved, and press Enter. - Open the Config folder and delete its contents.
- Open the Logs folder and delete its contents.
- Restart Windows, launch the Riot Client, and test VALORANT.
This removes local preferences and diagnostic logs, so some in-game settings may return to defaults. It does not change your account, inventory, or cloud identity. If Windows says a file is in use, repeat the process after confirming the game and Riot processes are closed.

When should I reinstall VALORANT and Vanguard?
Reinstall only after verifying Windows, firmware security, updates, drivers, and local folders. A clean reinstall is more disruptive, but it is appropriate when files remain inconsistent or Vanguard did not install correctly.
- Use Windows Settings > Apps (or Apps & features on some Windows 10 builds) to uninstall VALORANT.
- Uninstall Riot Vanguard as a separate entry if it remains installed.
- Restart Windows. Vanguard is a kernel-level service, so the restart allows its driver and service state to unload fully.
- Download the current installer from the official VALORANT website and install the game again.
- Restart whenever the installer requests it, then test the launcher before adding overlays or third-party tuning utilities.
Reinstalling does not fix an unsupported Windows architecture or disabled firmware security. If the same message appears on a fresh installation, return to the build, TPM, Secure Boot, and UEFI checks rather than repeating the download.
Should I use Windows 8 compatibility mode?
The Windows Club suggests trying Windows 8 compatibility mode, but this is lower-confidence secondary guidance. Treat it as an experiment only after the requirement and update checks have passed.
- Right-click the VALORANT or Riot Client shortcut and choose Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Enable Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 8.
- Apply the setting and test once.
- If launch behavior worsens, return to the same tab and clear the compatibility option.
Compatibility mode does not add TPM 2.0, convert a 32-bit installation, or upgrade Windows. It can also introduce different permissions or graphics behavior, which is why it should not replace the primary checks.

| Observed condition | Best next action | Risk and evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Windows build is below the stated baseline | Install Windows updates, restart, and recheck the build | Low risk; directly addresses a documented requirement. |
| System type is 32-bit | Plan a supported 64-bit Windows installation after backing up data | High disruption; a normal update may not convert 32-bit Windows. |
| TPM is missing or disabled on Windows 11 | Enable compatible firmware TPM in UEFI; consider a motherboard-approved module only if firmware TPM is unavailable | Firmware changes carry boot risk; a module is hardware-specific and not a guaranteed game fix. |
| Secure Boot is Off or BIOS Mode is Legacy | Confirm backup and manufacturer instructions before moving to UEFI/Secure Boot | Moderate to high risk because an incorrect boot-mode change can stop Windows from starting. |
| Requirements pass but the launcher still fails | End stuck processes, clear Config and Logs, then update the GPU driver | Low risk and reversible; addresses local state and runtime conditions. |
| Fresh files or Vanguard appear damaged | Uninstall both components, restart, and reinstall from the official installer | Time-consuming but more thorough than repeatedly launching a damaged install. |
| Everything above passes and symptoms began after a shortcut change | Try Windows 8 compatibility mode, then remove it if behavior changes | Lower-confidence workaround; not a substitute for requirements. |
What should I avoid while troubleshooting?
- Do not disable antivirus as a guaranteed fix. The available evidence does not establish that security software is the root cause on every machine.
- Do not edit the registry at random. Registry changes can create new boot, service, or permission problems without satisfying Vanguard’s requirements.
- Do not install unofficial “optimizer” downloads. They can bundle unwanted software and have no established ability to correct TPM, Secure Boot, or Windows architecture.
- Do not clear TPM data casually. TPM reset operations can affect encryption keys and recovery workflows.
- Do not assume a new TPM module is necessary. Firmware TPM may already be available, and a hardware purchase cannot repair software corruption.
What if the error persists after every check?
Record the exact Windows edition, OS build, system type, BIOS Mode, Secure Boot State, TPM specification version, GPU model, and whether the error occurs before or after Vanguard loads. This information separates a requirement mismatch from a launcher-state problem and gives official support a reproducible configuration.
If the computer cannot meet Windows 11’s processor, TPM, or Secure Boot requirements and you are attempting to run a configuration that depends on them, the practical solution may be a supported Windows installation or newer hardware. Verify compatibility with Microsoft’s PC Health Check and your motherboard documentation before spending money. For a machine that already meets the baseline, continue with the software cleanup and reinstall sequence instead of replacing hardware.

Can I play VALORANT on Windows 10 without TPM 2.0?
TPM and Secure Boot requirements depend on the Windows and Vanguard configuration being used. Windows 10 users should first verify the documented build and 64-bit requirement; do not buy a TPM module unless the motherboard and the specific security check actually require one.
Will enabling Secure Boot erase my files?
Enabling the setting normally does not erase personal files, but switching a system from Legacy/CSM boot to UEFI can make an incorrectly prepared installation unbootable. Back up important data and follow the computer or motherboard manufacturer’s conversion instructions before changing firmware mode.
Why does VALORANT still show the error after I updated Windows?
An update may leave the launcher’s local configuration, Vanguard installation, or graphics driver in a bad state. Close all Riot processes, clear the Config and Logs folders, and reinstall Vanguard and VALORANT if the files remain inconsistent.
Is a physical TPM 2.0 card compatible with every desktop PC?
No. Desktop TPM modules use motherboard-specific headers, pin layouts, and firmware support. Check the exact motherboard manual; firmware TPM such as Intel PTT or AMD fTPM may provide the needed function without an add-in module.
