How to get Cosmog in Pokémon GO
Niantic announced additional chapters of the Special Research story A Cosmic Companion during the Astral Eclipse event in November 2022. That establishes the research as a historical way to encounter Cosmog, not as proof that it is currently available to newly created or returning accounts. The announcement is specific to that event: Niantic’s Astral Eclipse announcement.

The official material cited here does not establish a present-day way for an account without Cosmog to obtain one. A later event announcement should not be treated as evidence of Cosmog access unless it explicitly lists Cosmog or its research as a reward. How to evolve Cosmog into Solgaleo or Lunala
The final evolution is performed from Cosmoem, not directly from Cosmog. Niantic’s official instructions specify a cost of 100 Cosmog Candy for either outcome. Before confirming the evolution, check the game’s displayed day or night state, because that determines which Pokémon you receive.

Niantic describes the requirement as “during the day” for Solgaleo and “at night” for Lunala. Its announcement does not give an exact clock time or timezone cutoff, so there is no supported universal hour to quote. The game’s evolution screen is the practical check before you spend the candy. These instructions and the 100-Candy cost come from Niantic’s Astral Eclipse announcement.
What to check before you evolve
- Make sure the Pokémon selected is Cosmoem; the documented final evolution is not a direct Cosmog evolution.
- Have 100 Cosmog Candy available for the final evolution.
- Check whether the game currently shows day or night, and confirm the intended result on the evolution screen before proceeding.
The cited official information does not state the candy cost for evolving Cosmog into Cosmoem, nor does it confirm the current unlock status of A Cosmic Companion. Those details should not be inferred from the final-evolution instructions.
